I honestly can't believe AVB took Lennon off. Evra shat himself every time Lennon got near him.

Evra is a legend and still a great player but he plays way too often these days and is sadly backed up by Buttner instead of Fabio.

I really hope Moyes isn't 100% set on heigh at RB and having a left foot at LB. The Twins are simply too good to not start most games.

Based on what? Fabio has done nothing to prove he is even close to Evra. Granted he has had little chances but he hardly set the world alight at QPR. Rafael has been brilliant but to claim they are both too good to start is just crazy.

He's clearly far far better than Büttner.

talking about buttner:

He was a bit rubbish at times against Lennon, but he did contribute a lot in both defense and offense. However, he struggles with Lennon's pace - he always has, even when he was arguably amongst the top ten quickest players in the league. That said, when Lennon is on song, as he partly was on Sunday, no fullback can keep up with him. He more or less starts at top speed - not even Walcott is close to that kind of acceleration Lennon has. Evra had no difficulties with Walker, who is lightning as well (Valencia clearly outpaced him though - always fun to see).

He was bad on Sunday, but he has been good this season, but the haters are always there when he plays a bad match, but tend to keep their mouths shut when he's playing well... is that the definition of being a supporter?

Andy Carroll (@AndyTCarroll):

Seeing Evra getting groped by a women fan made me wonder if he did the same to her in her workplace would it be deemed sexual assault???

He's been appalling today. Out of position at all times. He's never in support on attack or defending when he should be. How does Fabio not get a game?

Had a very bad game, but do still think he is an excellent fullback who has had a good season

Cost us the match by heading the ball when it was going out of play.

Stupid decision.

Reminds me of Gary Neville when he was finished. Get a LB in January. One who is awake preferably. He is truly the definition of liability.

Must drive Moyes crazy since he identified this problem in the summer but couldn't do anything about it.

Why the feck can't Fabio get a game?

I refuse to believe he's worse than Evra and Buttner in training

He's so slow to react defensively. He walks/jogs back in a casual manner, has a pointless oversensitive response when the ball doesnt go exactly where he expected and takes ages to get over it and start getting back, he falls to sleep when opponents are looking to pass the ball in behind him. He still does stuff, but its meaningless if he doesnt do the basics right and costs us points

He could've cost us more goals today. Appalling display and it's not the first time. He'll still have good games but we should be looking at other options at this point.

As bad as he was defensively there was a moment towards the end where Januzai had the ball out left and was holding it up facing a defender. Rather than create and overlap Evra stood 5 years behind him watching him. Defender eventually got the ball and just tore away from Evra.

It just summed up his season so far for me.

I think Evra needs a little break from the team. His position is the only one that hasn't had any sort of rotation and it shows. Mentally, physically, something's not quite right. He was becoming a liability at times with his lack of concentration. Moyes needs to take action and give Fabio/Buttner a go. Ideally we're in desperate need of a new signing if he won't trust what we've got in reserve.

Moyes doesn't rate Fabio. He'd probably give Lindegaard a game at LB/RB before him.

Shocking from Paddy today, he is done as a defender. We need Baines/Coentrao/Shaw or someone else in January.

Don't know if it's the same time you're talking about but when Januzaj had the ball with 2 defenders on him. Had Evra come to support him he would have been in a great position to get the ball and whip a cross in.

Again, people are going completely overboard in here. If Evra had scored, which was the closest we came and he hadn't been unlucky hitting Sissoko's face when heading, then we would win 1-0. He was double unlucky and had a decent game besides that - not good, but not bad either.

Yeah think that's the one. Just stood still 5 yards behind him and was then caught out of position when we lost the ball.

The 'never wear the shirt again' loons are OTT but he was very poor today (not that he was alone).

You can say he was unlucky for the goal, he was but he also should have done better with the header.

Towards the latter stages he couldn't get back to defend at all.

Towards the end he was knackered.

That's no excuse. He's a professional athlete. If he can't play 90 mins it's a bigger concern than anything.

Personally I've thought for a while that he's close to past it. Shades of Neville, although not quite as obvious, yet.

If you think his defending is fine: you're wrong
If he's being asked to stay high up the pitch and not bother tracing back: Moyes is wrong and it's hurting us
If he's not being told to do that but is choosing not to do it anyway: Moyes has to address it. If that means selling him so be it

Something needs to be done. As well as he does going forward, we can't be playing without a LB for long stretches.

I think his defending goes from bad to terrible but I honestly think he's being told to stay high up the pitch (he's never gonna be told not to track back obviously). I think it's too obvious for it not to be a tactical decision.

Did you miss at the end of the first half when he literally watched the Newcastle player run in behind him for what should have been a goal? He didn't even move.

Terrible again

Out of position so many times..........he is not a winger ffs!!!!!

Evra was amazing so many years for us and on a legend status level with Irwin............but sorry his time is over at Old Trafford

Can't believe it's only now he's getting put under the scope...
Defensively he has been utter shite since the 2009/2010 season in which, I thought he was magnificent.
I can't believe people lap up his interviews about "the United way" when he is one of the main culprits of being below standards expected.

And sorry but as much a I loved Evra between 2006-2010, he was never at Irwin's level....Dare I say it, either was Ashley Cole. Denis Irwin was one in a million

Can still work as a left winger. Buy a left back. He's probably better than all the other wingers bar Januzaj.

No! Can't beat the last defender and can't cross-prerequisites for winger.

Can do a job as a sub while a new LB is bedded in but only in defensive capacity when the game is won
