Paris terror attacks on Friday 13th

Are you Caucasian, preferably blonde? Been searched with a drug sniffing dog, once had to strip down to my underwear in front of people waiting in line, also had some spray being put into my luggage that was supposed to show dangerous substances I guess. My personal highlight was when at the gate when we were boarding I was the ONLY one from the whole plane to be pulled out by an air marshal or someone like that and being questioned about the purpose of my trip in an extra room. I was 16 and wanted to visit my host family after a student exchange a year earlier.:wenger: Crazy really.

I am not saying that people of colour don't get profiled. I am only saying that security there tonight will be way beyond the norm. In what country did you have to strip to your underwear in front of people?

Muslim man in Northampton asked what he's doing about ISIS
17-11-15

A 38-YEAR-OLD Muslim working as a land surveyor in Northampton has been asked how he plans to stop ISIS.

Mohammed Rahman, who was born in Kettering and attends mosque around four times a year, has been informed that responsibility for halting ISIS rests with the Muslim community and that means him.

He said: “Tony in marketing came over specially to ask how I was fighting creeping radicalisation in young Muslims. They seemed disconcerted when I said my daughters preferred 5SOS, which I then had to explain was an Australian boy band.

“Pam in the postroom wanted to know if I was going on an anti-ISIS march. I said I would if there was one going on, and she pursed her lips.

“Then I got called into the management meeting to tell them whether airstrikes could be effective against Syria or if we needed boots on the ground.

“I said I didn’t know. They didn’t say anything, but I felt like I’d let them down.”

Rahman decided to make an effort by leaving critical comments under an ISIS video on YouTube, following which he was placed on MI5 and CIA watch lists.

They have those Daily Mash pieces above the urinals in my local. Always make me chuckle.

Just read that the ex-wife of one of the suicide bombers said that he never went to the mosque and only followed Ramadan when he felt he had to. Hardly the sound of a god-fearing man

These people are easier to exploit, majority of these fools get brainwashed online, if you stick to the mainstream it rarely happens. In a way i can see the justification in all these new snooping legislation proposed, i do believe it would help identify the majority of these people at an early stage.

In Abd al-Wahhab's view, these were not Muslims; they were imposters masquerading as Muslims. Nor, indeed, did he find the behavior of local Bedouin Arabs much better. They aggravated Abd al-Wahhab by their honoring of saints, by their erecting of tombstones, and their "superstition" (e.g. revering graves or places that were deemed particularly imbued with the divine).

All this behavior, Abd al-Wahhab denounced as bida -- forbidden by God.

Like Taymiyyah before him, Abd al-Wahhab believed that the period of the Prophet Muhammad's stay in Medina was the ideal of Muslim society (the "best of times"), to which all Muslims should aspire to emulate (this, essentially, is Salafism).

.

This is not what this term means.

Some interesting stuff in the article but also some misunderstanding and inaccuracies about the religion.

E.g i doubt you will find a Muslim that would deny that the period of the Prophet Muhammad's (SAW) stay in Medina was the Islamic ideal.

In Barcelona shortly after the bombings in 2004, some friends and I were going through security. One ginger, two blond hair/blue eyes, and an Indian are going through. The ginger and my blond friend were pulled aside to open their luggage and have it gone through. They had bought swords as souvenirs in their checked bags so the guys with the guns weren't especially happy with that. They saw me and the Indian guy going through but chose them. We were all 16/17 so thought it was hilarious that they didn't profile him.

Sultan (hope you are well)

If you were given a mandate by the government/UN whoever to somehow pro-actively sort this out within your faith, and had all the resources at your disposal, what would your approach be? (and i'm asking you to divorce this from a foreign policy debate, though I know it's a component)

Somebody of your calibre clearly needs to deconstruct/debunk these teachings if there is to be any way forward.

I think I'd spend all my energy and resources on changing the Muslim communities mindset.

Firstly, I'd get a message out living amongst non-Muslims is a blessing and an opportunity to be ambassadors of Islam. This gives us an opportunity to show the virtues of our faith. Our conduct should be so good in our daily dealings it should captivate whosoever sees us and accepts us in a positive way. We should basically leave an everlasting impression on everyone who comes into contact with us in everyday life. A life of piety will immediately attract people's attention.

Secondly, I'd urge Muslims not to live an insular lifestyle, failing to manifest the beauty of our faith. We must earn our place in our host country. Leave an imprint on the host community of our usefulness. We must demonstrate our existence here is more beneficial than that of the locals. We have to demonstrate we are a blessing and mercy anywhere we live. We cannot just live in an enclosed environment with just our prayers and fasting, negligent to our neighbours and society.

Third, we need to strengthen our position everywhere in the world through deeds I have mentioned above. We need to earn our recognition. Display a noble character. Live as you would as a guest. Strive to master the national language and become proficient so that you can use it effectively. This way the world will begin to love us and our faith, we will then see people stand to defend us. If there is the slightest opposition against us, they will be the first ones to argue on our behalf and vouch what a blessing we are for them.

Fourth, don't get engrossed in pointing fingers at other nations. (I need to take note) Don't believe any present Islamic groups are fighting for a just cause. Remember every person that gets killed without faith is a victory for the satan. Our victory as Muslims is to take every individual on this earth to heaven through being exemplary in our conduct. Power and land are always only temporary as history has proved. That's not our goal.

Heading back from the game! Wasn't searched or profiled or anything ! UK rules.
Logic dictates the terrorists wouldn't target events immediately after last week knowing security would be at the highest level.

Counter logic dictates they would very much want to target another event immediately in order to prove that enhanced security won't stop them.

Amazing post, and a bit of an eye opener.

Genuinely - Did you not see what happened in Germany tonight?

Very sage words mate.

Not sure I should post the link to it here, but the IS's English-language magazine Dabiq ran an interview with the guy believed to be the mastermind (Abdelhamid Abaaoud, aka Abu Omar al-Baljiki) behind this back in January, it's vol. 7 of the magazine, easy to find online.

It was pointed out to me that people might not want to be searching for this stuff online, but would still be interested to read the interview so here's a c&p:

INTERVIEW WITH ABŪ ‘UMAR AL-BALJĪKĪ

DĀBIQ: Why did you go to Belgium?

ABŪ ‘UMAR: Alhamdulillāh, Allah chose me, Abuz-Zubayr al-Baljīkī (Khālid), and Abū Khālid al-Baljīkī (Sufyān) to travel to Europe in order to terrorize the crusaders waging war against the Muslims. As you know, Belgium is a member of the crusader coalition attacking the Muslims of Iraq and Shām.

DĀBIQ: Were there any other brothers with you?

ABŪ ‘UMAR: No, it was just us three. Our names are all over the news now.

DĀBIQ: Was it difficult for you to go to Belgium?

ABŪ ‘UMAR: We faced a number of trials during the journey. We spent months trying to find a way into Europe, and by Allah’s strength, we succeeded
in finally making our way to Belgium. We were then able to obtain weapons and set up a safe house while we planned to carry out operations against the crusaders. All of this was facilitated for us by Allah. There is no might nor power except by Him.

DĀBIQ: How did the kāfir media get a hold of your picture as a soldier in jihād?

ABŪ ‘UMAR: A brother had taken video footage of some of us before a battle, but his camera got lost and was later sold by a murtadd to a Western
journalist. I suddenly saw my picture all over the media, but alhamdulillāh, the kuffār were blinded by Allah. I was even stopped by an officer who
contemplated me so as to compare me to the picture, but he let me go, as he did not see the resemblance! This was nothing but a gift from Allah.
DĀBIQ: What happened on the day of the battle with the Belgian authorities? ABŪ ‘UMAR: Abuz-Zubayr and Abū Khālid (rahimahumallāh) were together in the safe house and had their weapons and explosives ready. The kuffār raided the place with more than 150 soldiers from both French and Belgian special
forces units. After a gun battle that lasted about 10 minutes, both brothers were blessed with shahādah, which is what they had desired for so long. I ask Allah to accept them both.

DĀBIQ: If you weren’t with them when the raid occurred, why did you become a suspect?

ABŪ ‘UMAR: The intelligence knew me from before as I had been previously imprisoned by them. After the raid on the safe house, they figured out that I had been with the brothers and that we had been planning operations together. So they gathered intelligence agents from all over the world – from Europe and America – in order to detain me. They arrested Muslims in Greece, Spain, France, and Belgium in order to apprehend me. Subhānallāh, all those arrested were not even connected to our plans! May Allah release all Muslims from the prisons of these crusaders.

DĀBIQ: Tell us about your journey to Shām.

ABŪ ‘UMAR: Alhamdulillāh, Allah blinded their vision and I was able to leave and come to Shām despite being chased after by so many intelligence agencies. All this proves that a Muslim should not fear the bloated image of the crusader intelligence. My name and picture were all over the news yet I was able to stay in their homeland, plan operations against them, and leave safely when doing so became necessary. I ask Allah to accept the fruitful deeds of the shuhadā’ who terrorized the crusaders of America, France, Canada, Australia, Germany, and Belgium.

[Interview concludes with the final wasiyyah (testament) of his friends who were killed by Belgian security forces.

Wonder if Charlie Hebdo will take the piss out of the Paris casualties? Or maybe their 'humour' is reserved for dead Russian civilians.

'They have the guns. We have the champagne!'

IS have a magazine? Dafuq?

Logic dictates the terrorists wouldn't target events immediately after last week knowing security would be at the highest level.

I was worried about it though. If they could pull it off it would have shown they could do what they want, even when security is at it's highest.
That would really cause mass fear and change people's thoughts on doing certain things IMO.
(Just seen Phurry said something similar)

Just read that the ex-wife of one of the suicide bombers said that he never went to the mosque and only followed Ramadan when he felt he had to. Hardly the sound of a god-fearing man

I think a big reason behind certain people wanting to become part of IS is to be part of some kind of brotherhood, a family of sorts where they feel like they've all got one another's backs and get treated as if they're important the more they behave like they're expected to (I think the same about gangs and even genuine religion to an extent, although obviously in a completely different way).
I'd bet half of them weren't anywhere near as 'religious' until they got involved.

Everyone is freaking out. Look at what someone sent me.

UPS Uniforms
Government Warning regarding purchase of UPS uniforms:
There has been a huge purchase, $32,000 worth, of United Parcel Service (UPS) uniforms on eBay over the last 30 days. This could represent a serious threat as bogus drivers (terrorists) can drop off anything to anyone with deadly consequences! If you have ANY questions when a UPSv driver appears at your door they should be able to furnish VALID I.D.
Additionally, if someone in a UPS uniform comes to make a drop off or pick up, make absolutely sure! they are driving a UPS truck. UPS doesn't make deliveries or pickups in anything, except a company vehicle. If you have a problem, call your local law enforcement agency right away!
TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY! Tell everyone in your office, your family, your friends, etc. Make
people aware so that we can prepare and/or avoid terrorist attacks on our people! Thank you for your time in reviewing this and PLEASE send to EVERYONE on your list, even if they are friend or foe. We should all be aware!

Bitch please.

Somebody asked in a different thread how isis were funding themselves. Heard earlier that their black market oil is netting them $50million a month. That's pretty serious revenue!
