Probably one of the biggest disappointments over the last 3 years.

You can't fault the lad for commitment/effort, but by the looks of things, it will take a minor miracle for him to ressurect ANY sort of football comeback, let alone his United career. :sad:

Great attitude and spirit though. We could have used the battling and leadership qualities of OH during the course of this season.

We need someone who can play as right winger just now too :)

I'll give up on him when the club give up and he gives up, not a second before. It's been a nightmare for the boy and fair play to him for battling on.

Love his fight but I think this is his last chance.

Also glad this thread was bumped for an update.

I think he's not taking the hint from his knee's. Well I presume it is knee's that are gone again. I haven't heard of a 4 & 1/2 month hamstring injury.

Perseverance = Admirable

Hope = Minimal.

(except, of course, the Black Knight had better knees than Hargo)

Wish some of our players had the same lion heart as Hargreaves has shown over the last few seasons...

You can almost gaurantee that Hargreaves after being released by United in the summer will go on to play 20 odd games next season for Bolton or Wigan or West Brom or some such club.

Not liking the source but as that is some form of good news I'll take it. If it is true then I'd like to believe Hargreaves will have a part in our run in but really doubt it as he'd still need to get back to match level fitness, and when he's been out as long as he has I doubt that will solve itself in a week or two.

Valencia was in training for what, 6 odd weeks?

Can't really see him featuring that much.

Exactly. Unless something amazing happens I honestly can't see him doing much for us on the pitch this season or ever, assuming he is moved on. There is the possibility he was training in Germany or wherever he was for a bit so that might help but its just wishful thinking.

Best cast scenario now... he trains well for a few weeks injury free (maybe appearing in a behind closed doors game or some ressie football) and shows enough to earn a pay-as-you-play deal , then trains consistently through the summer to get fit for 11/12 season.

Sadly, I'm not confident of this.

I'm not so big on keeping him here tbh. With his age & injury history he'd never be the same player. Best case scenario is he gets fit whilst still with us and plays enough reserve games to get a contract at another club and continues playing football for a few more years.

From skysports:

The United boss told The People: "Yeah, we have missed him. He's a very good player but he's been missing so long.

"From what we're told he's coming back from Germany and he's going to start training on Monday with us so we'll wait and see.

"He's been a loss but there's nothing you can do about it. Up until the last couple of weeks we haven't really needed him.

"We've got a big strong squad with plenty of midfield players like Carrick, Anderson, Gibson, Scholes, Fletcher, Giggs who can play in there.

"We've had plenty of options in the middle of the park but we've coped OK. Antonio Valencia's been out for most of the season but Nani has progressed because of it. He's been terrific.

"Sometimes that happens. You lose a player and someone else steps up."

One of my favorite players.

Hope he comes back miraculously.

Very very good player.

Hope this time we give him some reserve matches first, SHOULD he come back to fitness.

The thing is, there was nothing explosive about the play leading up to his injury against Wolves. It's a bit spurious to suggest that he did his hamstring because it was a first team PL game. It's fully conceivable, and quite probable, that he would have done exactly the same thing in a reserve team game.

From the official site:

10:34 I'm down at Carrington and I'm pleased to report Nani is training with the first-team ahead of United's Champions League clash with Marseille tomorrow night. Encouragingly, so is Owen Hargreaves, although he's not part of the Reds' European squad. I'm afraid Rio Ferdinand isn't anywhere to be seen, though. And Ji-sung Park's training separately, away from the rest of the lads. (NC)

Nani AND Hargreaves, now that is wanktastic!!!
