What reserve games do we have coming up that he could potentially play in?

I almost can't believe it.

Let him get through an entire reserve game before we truly consider him as back. I still wouldn't offer him a permanent contract this summer, but it's up to him if he get's a pay-as-you-play deal though.

I think this option would best suit both player and club. Id love to see him get a pre season under his belt and who knows. Great news though..

Owen Hargreaves arrives for manchester united training

I'm not excited at all about this. He first needs to complete 90mins without breaking himself before I will get excited.

So was it actually a long term hamstring injury? Nothing to do with his knees? If so I'm going to let myself be a little more excited.

No, he healed from his knee injury but came back to soon and fecked up his hamstring because of it.

Yeah I know that's what he did against Wolves but I just assumed that the reason he wasn't back sooner was because of his knees flaring up yet again. People are usually over hamstring injuries much quicker than this, but I suppose it is Hargreaves so who knows?

He is 30 and was out of the game a long time, and wasnt training enough until that hamstring. So, maybe that's why he is taking longer than usual.

I would be ecstatic to see him back. I doubt we will though, and even if we do, he may not be half the player he was. I must admit I was still delighted to hear he was back training. There's always hope. One must presume it's now or never for him.

Any word on Ando? Seems everyone's back except him

If Hargreaves can remain healthy after this, it's quite a shame if he can't be involved in the latter stages of the CL

Nothing about Anderson. Hopefully back after the internationals but who knows. We were quick to deny claims about Michael Owen's injury being long term, saying he'll only miss Crawly, and then it took him an extra 3-4 weeks till he returned to training. We did the same with Anderson so I'm not holding my breath for tomorrow or Saturday anyway. Just hope he is back for the final push.

Imagine him coming back now after EVERYONE writing him off, even some of his biggest fans.... like a Phoenix from the flames!!

I'm one if the doubters and have always said I'd believe it when I see it

I still don't think he'll play a major role, if any but what a bonus it will be if we can get 10 games out of him

Assuming he does actually get through at least a whole game for us before the end of the season and IF we are going to offer him a pay-as-you-play deal could anyone explain how it works? I appreciate either scenerio is extremely unlikely but just wondered if he gets paid at all if he doesn't play? Anybody know exactly how these contracts work? Also, who's gonna pay his medical bills next season? Even if it costs us nothing to take a punt is he worth a PL and CL place?

I understand basic and appearance bonus Sharky but I wondered what the ratio is? Only bothered because we have spent £30 million so far and I'm uncomfortable with more money being spent with no guarantees.

Pretty easy to argue that Hargo is due a notably extreme contract too. £2K a week is a bit of an insult though. The academy lads must be on more than that.

Yeah but the academy lads earn their wages.

How great would it be if he played against arsenal and scored to winner to get united to number 19

I really cannot believe how many would throw a man on the scrapheap, incredible.

I won't throw him on the scrapheap but I would open the door for him at the end of the season and thank him for the season and a bit he gave us and wish him well. We just can't offer him another big contract in the hope that he will one day return to his former glory.

Making him leave is throwing him on the scrapheap...

Do you really believe that after a show of faith such as a contract offer when he hasn't played in 2 years he would request 90K a week?

He should be given every opportunity to see if he can fully recover from his knee injuries.

I'd be sick if he left and then he started playing regularly for somebody else.
