Outgoing Players

If Carrick doesn't get/want a one year contract, where would he go?
Experience on the bench for Leicester? Finish back at West Ham? If he wants to end at a team in Europe, those are his choices along with an extra year here.

Otherwise, he's looking at lower table sides like Sunderland, West Brom, maybe help out one of the promoted sides.

Not hard to see why no coach at Chelsea is bringing through young players when Abramovich is putting that kind of pressure on the managers. Morratti wanted the CL to be won asap not for Mourinho to come and develop young players for him. Perez isn't a man who is going to give managers time either and wants trophies.

Convenient excuses, we'll see how he does here (I'm not holding my breath).

I dont think there will be a huge amount of exits, especially in his first window. We actually have a decent SQUAD, the problem is we only have half a decent TEAM. De Gea, Shaw until his injury, Smalling for the majority of the season and Martial are the only players deserving a first team place. Rashford and Rooney will find places for almost entirely opposite reasons. The big problem for me has been the majority of players signed post Fergie just havent been good enough. I never wanted Mata, Schneiderlin, Blind or Fellaini as none of them seemed like Utd type players to me, although I like some of them (hate Fellaini though), they still dont seem like Utd players. Then the likes of Rojo, Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Depay have not really cut it. I think Mourinho will keep the majority of them though and maybe get the best out of a couple. I think Rojo, Mata, Fellaini and YOung will be the only major players possibly leaving, but expect several more by the end of the season to follow. Add in youngsters maybe like Powell and 4/5 big arrivals cb, cm, 1-2 attacking midfielders/wingers and Ibrahimovic

No matter how much people on here want him gone, Rooney will be here next season. He isn't finished yet. His importance to us has definitely decreased, but he can still offer us a lot - more so than the majority of our midfield.

Senior players: Fellaini, Mata, Jones, and Rojo.

Fellaini - no place for him in a Mourinho side. Offers nothing other than a chance to play with 10 men.

Mata - Mourinho got rid of him at Chelsea and barring a change in his tactics and formation I see no place for Mata.

Jones - the embodiment of injury.

Rojo - not a good centre back or left back, it will likely depend on how many defensive players he can bring in.

Others likely moved on will be Varela, Blackett, McNair, Keane, and Powell.

Also, would not be surprised if Herrera was sold - he has little defensive aspect to his game which Mourinho likes in his midfielders and isn't good enough to play as a 10.

Definitely out

Mata (Mou can't use him and we still don't what he has to offer but goals. Maybe some key passes and that's all. No defending, nothing to offer in attacking build-up play, useless when counter attacking)
Fellaini (enough said)
Rojo (out of form, injury prone)

Possibly out

Carrick or Schweinsteiger (both of them offer experience in the backroom and calming-down effect when they play, but having both of them in your squad is rather expensive)
Jones (loads of potential, but his mindless bravery wrecked him)

Mata has been linked with a move to Barcelona, reportedly by an article coming from his agent. I think a move back to Spain would suit him and he'd be very lucky to get a move to Barcelona.

Those saying move Jones on, who the hell is going to buy him?

Personally I don't think we should move many on at all. Some of the deadwood like Powell, McNair but that's about it.

I want us to have a squad with decent depth I honestly don't care if it means we pay Young/Fellaini/Rojo to sit on the bench most of the season.

Varela is the one I worry about, hopefully he gets a loan as of think he's good enough to make it.

Why are people making lists of 10+ players to be sold? Our squad is thin enough as it is. Make enough signings first, and then we can focus on player sales.

The Mirror are reporting a mass clearout of 6 players as Mourinho transforms the squad: Mata, Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo, Memphis Depay, Sergio Romero and Antonio Valencia. That's three full backs, so expect us to be linked with a right back. Romero is an unexpected name here but we are being linked with a new reserve goalie. Seen Depay's name a few times, think it's awful harsh and personally hope he stays as I think in a few years time he'll be a very good player. Presumably Young is the other backup to Martial.

I think Mata, Fellaini, Januzaj, Powell, McNair and Valdes will be sold. There are others such as Rojo and Jones that might get sold, but as many have pointed out, we’ve got a thin squad as it is and we’d need to sign a few more players than we’re going to let go. So I think the clearout will happen during the next three windows instead of a huge turnover this summer.

Jose will probably stick with Young & Valencia as they are reliable and will work their socks off for the team, which I appreciate too. Memphis should get another year, really needs to step up though.

According to Sky we can add Blind to the list. But still no sign of any clubs being interested or offers being made on any of our players.

Maybe it would be better not to offload more than 3 players in this window. The coach should give a chance to players like Blind, Darmian and Depay. And if they are no good to him, then he should sell them in January.

I just wonder if Mou will be the third coach who doesn 't sell Young and Valencia. At least one of them.

It would be much better for him to go to a club like Villareal, Valencia, Sevilla

He could be a star at those clubs and play almost everything. They have a very good chance at getting CL football aswell. Would be much better for him and his chances of getting into the spain national team again than being a benchwarmer at Barcelona.

If he wants to go to a top club in spain Atlético also wouldn't be a bad shout.

Both have been better and more usefull than any of Blind, Darmian and Depay have been

I would happy to see them six go.

According to Sky, Mata and Blind are for sale.

I would like to see Fellaini move on. I would think of the coined up Mid to lower table PL teams would pay £15m for him.

Axing too many at once, regardless of quality could be a mistake - it definitely hurt LvG when the injuries hit. This will probably be more evident as we're in the Europa League from the start. Regardless, these are the players we should phase out over the next two years:

This Summer:
Out: McNair, Young, Fellaini, Rojo, Powell, Valdes
Loan: Januzaj, Pereira, Wilson, Keane, Blackett

I think Carrick will be offered a one-year extension, which he might take considering having Jose gives us a great chance at another trophy. Phil Jones is someone I'd probably try to sell now really, but expect him to be given this season to try and prove he can stay fit. Darmian, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, and Memphis all have something to prove and should get another season or two to do so. I know Rojo is in the same boat but nah, just feck him off.
Total agree with this. I hope we don't see Blind and continue with Rojo.

Mata will go. He never lived up to my expectations but I'll be a fan of his wherever he goes.

Fellani HAS to go. He is terrible and for me really symbolizes everything wrong at united the last few years.

I'd love to see Rooney shipped off to China but we all know it will never happen. Maybe a club like Leicester could make it work with Rooney. That's probably wishgull thinking too.

Other than that I would try to keep most of the rest. Selling Blind seems crazy to me. Hes the perfect squad player. Can play CB, LB, LWB, And as a holding mid. Love his versatility. The great united teams always had those types of versatile squad players.

It is, they just gave Vardy a new contract worth £80k a week to make him the highest paid player in their history. So i don't see them being able to match what we pay Rooney.

Rooney is here to stay.

Romero, Rojo, Fellaini, Bastian, Mata, Blind, wouldn't be a surprise if they all went.

Also think one of Valencia or Young will go, don't think we'll sell Depay though.

In all honesty I completely forgot Schweinsteiger played for us. I remember him starting off well, along with Schneiderlin. He seemed fairly fit and when we weren't playing him we just didn't seem as controlled. Then he got injured and it all went downhill from there. A couple of years ago if someone had told me that we'd one day have Ibrahimovic and Schweinsteiger playing for us I would have laughed at them. Now it is actually likely to happen, unfortunately Schweinsteiger seems to be going. We wouldn't miss him that much.

It'd be downright stupid to sell Blind. Intelligent, technically capable player who's been one of our most consistent players in his time here, despite people constantly berating him for his lack of athleticism.

I don't quite see the logic in letting Blind go, who has been one of our most consistent performers at a non-favored position, instead of Jones/Rojo. I'd much rather see Rojo leave.

To sell Blind or Schweiny ahead of the likes of Fellaini will be a grave mistake.

Don't think that BFS rumors are true though, Jose understands the importance of leadership and experience in the squad and we don't have enough of it even at this point.

we will be thin in CB position if we sell Blind, even if he's not a natural.

Smalling, new CB (Bailly?)... Jones, Rojo, McNair, TFM?

Jones is always injured
Rojo performs better as LB

I believe Memphis will be sold.If I have to guess,Memphis,Bastian,Mata,Rojo and one of Jones/Blind.Probably Romero as well but not too bothered about no.2 GK.

Football Manager time

Personally I would move on Mata, Herrera, BFS, Romero, Valdes, Blind and Felliani. Blind is a harsh one as he played well last season and done a job for us, same with Felliani he came in and done what was asked of him, but hes not a Man United type player. Think Valdes is out of contract anyway and Romero is a liability.

Bring in Ibrahimovic, has to be done hes a World Class player that will transform the team.
Bailly haven't seen much of him but looks strong and quick and very versatile playing across the defence, just lacks composure on the ball.
James Rodriquez - Brilliant player and would be welcome in the team providing we aren't held to ransom for a hefty fee or in a swap deal with DDG. Hopefully as a No.10 role, but would Mourinho want him if his tracking back isn't up to scratch.
Manolos/Benatia - We need another CB if Bailly is confirmed. Bailly can play as a RB, but needs to improve with his ball control first. Either Manolos or Benatia would be excellent options to have beside Smalling as they are strong and quick and would be a major upgrade on Blind.

We would still need another backup goalie and another RW, don't trust Lingard out there all season, but with the other squad players we have in the club I think it would be all that's needed to push on next season. The tactics employed by LVG are the reason the team struggled so much the last 2 seasons and not entirely the fault of the players.

I dont think Jose will sell many players unless he has absolutely no intention of using them and they want to leave. He has no need to as i expect the purse strings will again be loosened and we don't have a large squad so he'd probably be quite happy just to add some new players.

There are people we should consider letting go if we get a decent offer, but there are few players in our side who are so poor that we have to let them go just for the sake of it.

The players we should contemplate letting go: Blackett (not good enough), Mata (simply because he may not be a Mourinho-player anymore), Rojo (not good enough at left back), Fellaini and Romero

Valencia is one of the best RB in the country - should not go. Blind has been really good for 2 years, should not go and Memphis is a lot better than what he has shown - give him one more year.
As for McNair - after what he has shown in cm for Northern Ireland - maybe we should try him there a few matches in pre-season. It turned Dier from mediocre to an England-international.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has decided to offload Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera.

This has been reported by El Confidencial, who claim that the self-proclaimed Special One has told Ed Woodward that Herrera does not a have a future at Old Trafford.

So now that's:
Blind
Mata
Herrera
Memphis
Schweinsteiger
who are allegedly up for sale. Still no offers though.

Although reading a Google translate of the article it would seem that everyone is up for sale!

Would keep these three as all have shown they can play at a very high level in the right system, I believe Jose can massively improve Darmian and Schneiderlin. Schweinsteiger's leadership will be invaluable if we move on Rooney/Carrick. Also, whether you like him or not there's no denying since LvG Fellaini has become a better player and once again this season (he took his time) he has been one of the better performers, he certainly plays for the shirt which is more than can be said of some others.

Would sooner keep carrick. More reliable, had a better season and is united through a f through, which will help more than BS.

Agree with morgan and darmian though.

Expect the clear out to happen late in transfer window once Mourinho knows who he's got coming in. Would be mad to sell first team players before buying replacements given the squad is quite small.

Of the established players I think it's only Mata and Blind who are likely to be sold this summer. Rojo, schweinsteiger, Valencia, Fellani, Herrera and Young may not be first choice but I can't see us dismantling the squad to that extent.

It's the younger players who haven't progressed who are most likely to make way for the new signings - McNair, Wilson, Powell, Varela, maybe even Adnan.

Apps are fine, starts and long development? He has been at 5 Big European clubs in the last decade and you have given me 8 names. Half were signings, when i'm concerned with academy players. I'm talking about the development of young players through our academy. He was at Chelsea who have the best young players in country and none came through the academy under him.

His attitude towards youth is definitely something that fills me with dread because we have a lot of young academy talent. Let's see how he does. Fantastic manager i'm happy to have him but of course I have reservations.

How many players have we actually brought through into the first team over that period?

Evans? Welbeck? Cleverley? They've all been cleared out.

I read an excellent article by Daniel Taylor of the Guardian:

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...an-gaal-manchester-united-players-near-mutiny

Somewhere in there, he mentions that one senior source at Old Trafford suggests "90% of the playing staff need to be moved on".

By all accounts, the board are under no delusions about the quality of the personnel in our squad.

They are fecking shite.

Getting rid of them will be difficult, as they are overpaid and teams that fit their level don't pay those sort of wages.

I only care about keeping DDG, Shaw, Martial and Rashford.

The rest can go. Particularly:

Rooney
Carrick
Damian
Rojo(!!)
Jones
Schewini
Schneiderlin (bland)
Fellaini

I thought the first statement is over the top on first reading. But then we I think about it. I completely agree with the second statement. Although I would add Smalling to it. I like Blind.....but I wouldn't be gutted if he went and Id add a few others to that list.

The problem is finding them a club. Most of them have such a poor sell on value that its barley worth flogging them. We would almost have to force them out by paying them up as none of them would get a decent club and non of them would get a wage anywhere near what they are getting from us.

Id give Herrera, Schniderlin and Darmien the benefit of another season too. Memphis too
