Ousmane Dembele

I just don't see how this will be a good thing, this the same guy that acted unprofessional at Barca.... Barcelona! The club that nearly every player wishes to play for, if he was not motivated at Barca then what hope is there for a club like ours that has had a terrible record of late of players taking the Mickey out of club and only being in it for the money.

He's incredibly talented, from what I've seen. If you can get his fitness right and get his head down there's a huge potential upside. But as always, buying players who've been injured a lot or who have been on a downward curve for a sustained period worries me.

For feck sakes you’d rather have Bale? Those complaining of Dembele’s attitude seem to be forgetting Bale’s concern about his golf handicap rather than football in Madrid. Bale is an absolute cnut and I’m glad we stayed away.

Yeah I didn't want Bale but signing a guy who's played 3 games last season is an absolute piss take, the man is a permacrock, he didn't wnt to come here, he has attitude issues and it's a permanent deal? A joke

Barcelona are a mess from top to bottom - haven't you realised that?

They're held together and ruled by Messi, no wonder there players are not taking it seriously.

He clearly does have a bit of issue with time keeping but then again Sancho was no angel either.

Massive talent. In some areas better than Sancho. Can score and is great crosser. He used to take corners in Barca. In Barca! BUT... has a horrible injury record. He can be the next big thing or be Alexis 2.0. It's a gamble but it seems we don't have other options and for less than 50mils. Well.. What about his wages?

I seen in one paper he's on 215,000 quid a week, it was the Sun though, so who knows. If we take him on loan Barca want us to pay that in full was the jist of their article

That’s a worry. Hamstring injuries are pretty chronic. Just ask Michael Owen at that same age

It is a worry but he seems to be more Robben/Giggs than Owen because despite the injuries he seems to always comeback with the same athletic abilities. So until proven otherwise I believe that while his fitness will have to be monitored the way Robben was monitored at Bayern, he isn't a lesser athlete which is rare. I also think that he will get injured more often than other players and it's a fact that everyone needs to accept wherever he plays.

Honestly can't understand why Barcelona would do this deal for a loan.

If he did move to us on a loan move, he'd return to Barcelona with 12 months left on his contract. Best case scenario for them is he gets 10 goals, 10 assists for us and we're tempted to pay €50m for him next summer.

Barcelona lose all leverage if they let him go on a loan without an obligation to buy.

I wonder how low Barca would accept upfront, maybe something like the Martial deal, like 30m rising into the 50s I would down with as a permanent deal, otherwise we should only be looking at a loan

Dembele would be a class signing for 50 but Barca aren’t going to let him go for that. They’ll spin the wheel for one more year with him rather than cash out. They’ll get 50 for him next year too. If we were able to get Dembele this summer and go back for sancho next year then that’s a decent approach but it doesn’t change the fact that we are so out of touch that with 3 days left we are chasing a player who doesn’t really want to come and a board don’t really want to sell and another player who isn’t for sale anymore. It’s desperate carry on.

He's legitimately their 6th choice winger/offensive midfielder. Griezmann, Coutinho, Pedri, Trincao, Messi, Ansu Fati all ahead of him.

Which is why we SHOULD NOT go for him. He can't stay fit and even when he does, he's performed way below expectations for years!

This is a carbon copy of the Di Maria deal. Except this guy is way, waay worse.

That part is nonsensical, he has performed on par when on the field. He has recorded a G+A every 119 minutes, for reference Mané's record for Liverpool is a G+A every 121 minutes.

That first paragraph is complete lies.

Last game he didn't come on and Pedri did. It might be due to easing him back in after his injuries but Fati has started the season on fire and Griezmann and Messi are obviosuly ahead of him so he's clearly not starting 11 material for Koeman for the foreseeable.

Last year he scored 1 in 9. The year before, he scored 8 in 29 games in the league playing left forward. It's really not up to par for a Barcelona forward. His only okay season was 18/19 and even that was disappointing, especially his consistency.

His debut season was very poor, 4 goals in 23 games in all competitions and he struggled with consistency, injury and many very, very poor performances.

He has 16 goals and 12 assists in 3678 minutes for Barcelona (Only La Liga + UCL counting) according to whoscored, this is below expectations for you ? He is their biggest talent bar Messi as an offensive option, Ansu Fati is obvious really promising but too early to judge him yet.

Obviously, the big worry is that he has accumulated so few minutes since he joined in 2017. But his assists + goals ratio per minutes played is very good if you ask me.

As I added in my previous post Dembélé has recorded 35 goals and assists in 4125 minutes, if you think that it's very, very, very poor than most top players are very poor. But you seem to not consider the amount of minutes actually played.

Is he even a right winger? Doesn’t he prefer the left?

So he’s an injury prone, expensive, flop of a Left winger? Sounds like a typical Woodward signing...

But you can't compare his numbers with Daniel James or Samuel Chukwueze, you have to compare them with the other Barcelona forwards. Comparing his numbers to Ansu Fati, Suarez, Messi & Neymar, his numbers are exceptionally poor. He would never get anywhere near 35 GA in 4200 minutes for us since we are a much less productive team playing much higher standards of opponents.

His first and last seasons were disasters for Barcelona, from performances to fitness to discipline. He's deeply unprofessional and missed training TWICE already under Koeman, when he is supposed to be working hard and get fit again. He misses training due to late party nights, gaming and just not caring.

Worse than Balotelli and Cassano. With less talent.

No, he isn't a left winger so no need to bold it. He has played as much on either side.

Oyarzabal or Olmo are two players I would look at.

Edit: Throw Draxler in there too,f*ck it.

I didn't compare him to Daniel James or Chukwueze, I compared him to Mané. But the rest of your post demonstrate a lack of common sense, since when does not equaling all time greats means that you have very poor performances?

Ocampos is a good option. Not as flashy as Dembele, and tends to play more inside left, but he's got willingness in his game and is a good link-up player.
likes a dive too.

Barcelona technical director Ramon Planes has categorically denied any negotiations are ongoing with Manchester United for Ousmane Dembele. United are desperate to get some business done in the final few days of the transfer window with reports emerging that Dembele is now their top priority.

"First of all, no negotiations with Man Utd at the moment, completely deny that," he said.

"He's a player we count on, we know his potential.

"We hope this year the team sees the best of him."

I like this to be true but no. Barca will release Dembele if a decent offer comes in. They, Koeman to be more precise, desperately want Depay at the club.

I'm sure he can, pogba will say to him don't worry if you spend half of the time out injured at united, they will still extend your contract and increase your wages along with it, plus if you underperform for 10 games in a row, you will still get a starting place.
