One major fact of his past:

When he was at Rennes, I think he was nearly 18 or 17, don't know his age, when this happened, but he denied going to training, because Rennes didn't let him go to RB Salzburg.
He threatened Rennes with retiring from football and going to Senegal to live there.

It's quite strange, but I think this shows his character traits, because he is still very young and sometimes very naive in games - in his decision-finding as well as in his behaviour, because he discusses every decision of the ref.

Which is also very funny: In pre-season, Dembele put his mobile phone into his socks to get some kilometers for his developing eggs in Pokémon.

F*ck sake haha, he'd fit in with Rashford and Lingard then.

Few times I have watched him, his dribbling and general control looks up there with the best, superb talent. At the same time and it is probably just his age and a development thing but the end product is not there yet. I would love us to sign him but Mourinho has been complaining about the end product on several occasions this season and lack of us being decisive. Dembele wouldnt solve what Mourinho sees as the problem, doubt he is on our radar sadly.

It's mesmerizing how he glides past his opponents with little to no effort, a superb talent. Ceiling on this lad is sky-high.

Why weren't we all in for him?

Think all sorts of clubs were after him last season (us included) but he chose Dortmund because of their tendencies to play youth and by the looks of it, he made the right choice.

Dembele is potentially the hero we need but don't deserve, in all seriousness though I can imagine him being for us similar to how Ronaldo was before the World Cup in 2006 where there'd be flashes of genius and obvious potential but not the finished article that's needed especially right now as we're in worse shape than we were back then.

He's destined for Spain! Unless the money we offer is so ridiculous he can't possibly turn down, having Pogba is probably an advantage but not enough to get him here!

Hopefully in talking out of my ass.

Let's get Mbappe and he will another mate here.

There was a story as well that Dortmund had identified him much earlier than anyone else. It was in a story I was reading about their head recruiter and how he is considered more powerful at Dortmund than Tuchel.

Anyway a few big clubs including us were enquiringly but he'd already made up his mind to go to Dortmund months earlier due to the relationship with the recruiter and so on.

He is a fantastic player, would have loved to see him at OT but I just don't see how his style of play translates across in to Joses system.

France have some serious frontline with Mbappe,Martial,Coemann,Dembele, the kid from Marseille, Lacazette. Soon it'lol be hard for Griezmann to get in that team.

But Griezmann is better than all of them. So how u came to conclusion I don't know.

It's pretty obvious how he came to that conclusion no? He said "soon it will be hard" I.e. If those players reach their potential. If they do they will / may be better than him. Can't make it much clearer than that. Ain't rocket science mate

Yeah the same guy is responsible for bringing in Pulišić and Mor as well.

He's brilliant tbh, but as you said I just can't see him working out in Mourinho's system, which is a shame as he's a superb talent.

Yeah and also that Celtic Dembele is great as well, France are set for the future very well.

Dembele is the type of attacker we should be targeting this summer, old fashioned winger. Enough of these number 10's

I haven't seen all that much of Celtics Dembele. I'm a bit weary of his true quality as I'm from Scotland and honestly the quality of the league is suspect and that Celtic team is far superior to anyone in the league. Patrick Roberts who is on loan from City I think is also there and he scored two cracking goals last week I think it was.

I'd actually really like to see some sort of Martial,Mbappe, Dembele trio. I prefer Dembele off the wing, but he has looked ok centrally in behind Aubemyang. Maybe some sort of 352 formation or a 343 a bit like Chelsea with less defensive duties. Not sure how Martial and Mbappe would do as a duo. Seem quite similar.

He was very good in CL as well tbh, talent is definitely there. He scored quite a few goals outside of 16 yard box as well.

Dembele can play everywhere across on the opponents half. Seen him play as part if MF trio, LW, RW, LAMF, RAMF, number 10. I reckon with his speed, close control and dribbling ability he can even play a SS.

Dembélé isn't a winger.

He has been playing through the centre a lot to maximize the benefits of his tremendous vision but he has played most of the season as a wide forward for Dortmund in a 4-3-3 alongside Auba and Reus.

Playing wide doesn't make you a winger, to me when he plays wide he is more like Ribery, a wide playmaker.

Unreal. Ballon d'or in few years.

Not sure it's good idea to compare but Martial scored 17 goals and 11 assists in his debut season and that was playing for Van Gaal team which struggled to score goals.

That's chances created.
His goals created number will be his assists which i think was in single figures.
You are right, just noticed I forgot to put the "chances " in my 1st post, apologies!

My thinking was that if Martial did play with forwards like Aubamyang, his number of goals created would be as ridiculous. It dose not help playing with a past it Rooney as your striker partner.

Martial isn't a great creator though, he doesn't have Dembélé's dribbling, vision and not even his passing.
