BVB are just saying they want more money. He'll join Barca for the right amount.

Dortmund surprised?

Wasn't the deal that brought him to them already pretty shady?

Well, funny how life works.

2 of the top young attacking talents in the world may be moving this summer and we are nowhere in the conversation as possible destination for either of them.

It's frustrating when we need the talent way, way more than the clubs that will get it do.

I think that our position in the transfer market will be back inline with the Fergie years now.

We simply will not compete at the prices quoted for Neymar, Mbappe and Dembele.

Our day as the moneybags was short lived.

I have no idea how we are going to get to having a CL contending team again anytime soon.

Here we go again. Barca doing the same shit as always, even after crying for PSG doing this with Neymar

It is not really the same

Barcelona has made huge financial investments in securing Neymar, paying his club, paying his father and paying Neymar and later going through all the court cases to defend the transfer. They paid themselves through the nose to give him a contract renewal.

In essence they can't be disappointed about the outcome as they got his release clause of 220m but I understand their discontent about how PSG have handled it. They have set up a construction so Qatar (their owners) pay Neymar 220m for being the face of the upcoming world cup, Neymar uses the money to buy himself free from his contract and than signs as a free player for PSG. I have no problem with PSG signing a 220m player but not like this, there should be FFP consequences, they should have to balance their books to fit in a 220m investment instead they are going to go a step further and sign Mbappe for 180m aswell. That is crazy and altough I can't stand Barca, this upsets me aswell how PSG just doesn't play by the rules to get 2 footballers which would never even dream of playing for PSG if they weren't loaded with money.

In regards to Neymar's role, he is just a prime example of a player wanting to leave for money and greed, he is not loyal to the club that did huge investments in securing him on top of that he never communicated fairly about his plans, pretending like everything was ok and he was a Barca boy when a transfer was on his mind for a long time. He just dragged out the transfer so he would get his loyalty bonus off 36m for staying at the club till 31/7. He is just a greedy cnut and PSG are bunch of greedy cheat feckers aswell. I don't like Barca but I agree with them on that stand.

Where did you get that from?
The owner of Rennes is also a shareholder of Dortmund and and the transfer was very quickly concluded for €15m+15m while there were rumours floating around of €60m offers from big clubs.

[Kicker Journo, reliable]

BVB told us: Dembele is suspended from training and games until after the cup match. His misbehaviour will be sanctioned.

Zorc: "Dembele was absent without leave during training today and apparently choose this step deliberately."

But, didn't Dembele choose Dortmund over the other clubs?

Does any club ever rush an outgoing transfer for <50% of the player market value just because the player chose said club?

There were also rumours of a €5m buyout clause "sous seing privé" that is in theory illegal in France but could explain the Rennes board wanting to avoid the legal trouble of contesting it.

You are probably right. What was the point of signing for them if you are going to leave after a year?

He didn't thought that Neymar would leave the next year, like pretty much the rest of the world.

If Dortmund is out to block young ambitious players like that, players who dream bigger than Dortmund will be hesitant to sign for them in the future.

I really hate barcelona and their transfer shenanigans, if you want a player pay the god damned fair price you cheap bastards, really good from dortmund, they should not only punish the dembele but also increase the price for barcelona. Lets see how they like it then.

Fair price for Dembele right now is 100m.

Again, this attitude stinks, I understand the chance to go to Barcelona is extremely tempting but you don't go and decide you're not doing you're job anymore. Look at Mahrez...blatantly wants to leave but still shows up, still trains and according to his boss has been nothing but a complete professional about it.

Would not want him at United if he acts like this to get his own way (and yes I'm embarrassed Rojo did it too).

The fair price is whatever the selling club is happy to let him go for. Why do people not grasp this concept? There is no such thing as a 'fair price'. There never has been and there never will be.

Dortmund and Rennes negotiated and came ot a mutual agreement, Dembele (afaik) didn't go on strike. How is that comparable to the current situation? It's a lot closer to being the opposite of it.

No that is the price you want to pay, if a kid with half season under him is worth 160mn i think it aint unfair to ask 130-150 for dembele. Especially when you got 222mn for neymar.

But he had offers from other top clubs and knew that things could change quickly. I understand that BVB don't want to lose him after 1 year and play hardball

Dortmund are speculating the market, Barca speculate their position in football. Both teams play their hand.
Barca wont get the player without paying up. I think those times are over really. Same for Madrid and Mbappe - they either pay up or wont be sold

He didn't care about other clubs.

Factually it's true is it not? I struggle to think of anyone who's left they've wanted to keep in the last several years before Neymar, Toure maybe? but again went to an oil club.

Toure left because Busi was better and he wasn't playing as much as in the past.

Yes, he's been pretty clear about this for awhile now that his dream is to play at Barcelona. Offer that was initially rejected was 80 + incentives bringing it up to 110 million, there is certain to be a follow up offer

€80M guaranteed. That´s €60M after Rennes. That´s the going rate for Perisic and Sigurdsson.

No wonder Dortmund´s ad hoc release for the shareholders said that a transfer is currently highly unlikely.

Super-talent like Dembele with a clear preference for which club they want to go to in the future (Dembele has always had a Barca hard-on) really should start to include club specific release clauses in their contract.

This transfer market won't get any less silly in the future, what is the point of signing for a club to develop yourself if they price you out of your dream move when the time comes?
