No doubt Mbappe's more efficient and has better decision-making at this stage, but that's not often a strong predictor of potential - the same was true of Rooney vs. Ronaldo at that time. If Dembele matures to become more efficient and effective then, combined with his raw talent, it's entirely possible he could be a Ballon d'Or winner. Though I agree with you that Mbappe looks better.
I completely agree with you. It COULD happen. BUT it doesn't make any sense to rate Dembele higher than Mbappe at this moment. Mbappe is way better and younger now. Potential? I would say Mbappe got higher ceiling. It's a concern that Dembele is so ineffective and generally poor decision making at this stage of his career.
Forty years of behavioral science research into the psychology of probabilistic reasoning have revealed the surprising extent to which people routinely base judgments and forecasts on systematically biased mental heuristics rather than careful assessments of evidence. These findings have fundamental implications for decision making, ranging from the quotidian (scouting baseball players and underwriting insurance contracts) to the strategic (estimating the time, expense, and likely success of a project or business initiative) to the existential (estimating security and terrorism risks).
The bottom line: Unaided judgment is an unreliable guide to action. Consider psychologist Philip Tetlock’s celebrated multiyear study concluding that even top journalists, historians, and political experts do little better than random chance at forecasting such political events as revolutions and regime changes.
A body of research dating back to the 1950s has established that even simple predictive models outperform human experts’ ability to make predictions and forecasts. This implies that judiciously constructed predictive models can augment human intelligence by helping humans avoid common cognitive traps. Today, predictive models are routinely consulted to hire baseball players (and other types of employees), underwrite bank loans and insurance contracts, triage emergency-room patients, deploy public-sector case workers, identify safety violations, and evaluate movie scripts. The list of “Moneyball for X” case studies continues to grow.
I think Dortmund is going to sell him for 80m, that's a good business for them.I believe 12m.
I'm always a bit curious how a club can quickly 'agree personal terms' with players before having permission to negotiate with them. Isn't that the definition of tapping up? If everyone does it, what's the difference compared to what LFC and Van Dijk did?
He'll either stay at Dortmund or go to Spain, we have no chance unfortunately.
He would absolutely perfect for us.That's a real shame.
That's a real shame.
He has 10 goals and 21 assists last season.I find it quite amusing that people rate Dembele over Mbappe. Dembele isn't even close and hasn't proven anything yet. He's like a headless chicken out there. No end product. Mbappe is effective and smart, Dembele isn't and thats the BIG difference.

Except they must still have some power or else LFC wouldn't have issued a groveling public apologyI think the tapping up laws stopped being enforced quite some time ago.

It would weaken their team so it would not be.

We need to blow Barca and Real out of the water in terms of wages for this guy, him and Mbappe are going to be taking over from Messi and Ronaldo as the best players in the world.
Maybe. But how many people might have thought similarly of martial and coman in the previous couple of years? We need to blow Barca and Real out of the water in terms of wages for this guy, him and Mbappe are going to be taking over from Messi and Ronaldo as the best players in the world.
Dembele and Mbappe are the biggest two U21 talents in the the game, we need to try to get one of them, both are special.

Maybe we should try to convince these kind of players rather than the only focusing players that only want United.I'm sure we've tried, but it doesn't appear that either one wants to come here. Not much you can do about that.

If we can get Dembele or under 100m, we should do it now. Massive upside potential imo.
Exactly, and I don't think there's anyone on a comparable level that's going to be available anytime soon. Unfortunately it looks like they'll both be heading to Spain.
Sadly all the three top talents going around these days seems to be Spain bound.
Mfappe
Dembele
Dybala
Sad both since it means we can't get any of them, plus it will probably stop RM and Barca from going after Coutinho and Hazard.
It does seem that way, and Real are going to offload one of their older shiny toys that has some cracks in it, in order to pay for one of them.
That's exactly what I was thinking in regards to the "We need a Game Changer" thread, the best options out there all look like they are about to be gobbled up and with those 3 plus Neymar going to PSG it looks like Coutinho, Hazard and Sanchez will remain in place as our rivals game changers.
Rashford, Angel Gomes, Martial and hopefully Sancho will be our game changers.
I just don't see it with them except maybe Martial, it'll be a few years before Gomes is even a factor IMO. Sancho from City's youth team? I thought he was going back to London when he moved on.
