Coutinho scored 5 as an attacking mids/winger and I don't hear much crticicism of him from Liverpool fans

There's plenty of criticism for him too, certainly from me. And Henderson. Both seriously need to re-assess their training and put in some extra shooting shifts. But as they're willing to knuckle down and accept that they're nowhere near the finished articles they're also shown the love.

Sterling thinks he's Suarez. End.

He was played there for most of the season. I know it's not his natural position, but he'd easily have 10-15 if he had a better shot on him. That should come with time, though.

Why try and make him a striker at all?

Same reason we've been playing a CM/CDM at RB/CB - Rodger's is a tit. I wouldn't be surprised if we bought Adam Bogdan in to rotate with Coutinho :wenger:

Sterling and his agent have managed to unite a large chunk of the football community against them - even amongst those who don't particularly care for Liverpool. It's a staggering feat.

I've never seen anything quite so unnecessary.

So he was was played out of position to cover for crap signings who were earning twice as much as him. Hardly surprising that he wants to leave.
Indeed, yet his grievance isn't framed around such terms - instead, it's a scattergun strategy without a clear narrative. Furthermore, Sterling was offered £100k thus rendering any notion of undervaluing him a tad stretched.

This is an odd angle full of accusation. Sterling hasn't shown evidence that he thinks he's Suarez. He's also progressed in such a way that indicates a very good work ethic. Plus, he's shown enough to suggest he's got a very good attitude to working hard on the pitch.

...and here's the rub...Sterling has behaved badly, he's acted unprofessionally. But he's still a great talent who has the world at his feet.

The inability from some to be able to divorce his talent from his antics is a bit frustrating. Call him out for his stupidity and obnoxiousness but don't pretend he's some average also ran.

Not like he was played at centre back.

In fact, he actually complained early in the season that he wasn't being used in an attacking role even though he 'trained to play upfront' every day.

Apperantely Henderson will be officially be confirmed as the new captain tomorrow. Surely the worst captain Liverpool have had for a while?

Just look at the state of him

We've not had a worse captain in my times as a Liverpool fan.

Gerrard
Hyypia
Redknapp
Ince
Barnes

Okay, maybe Redknapp edges him out, but still... I'd want neither as nailed on starters in a Liverpool midfield that's looking to improve. I think he's a good player with a decent amount to contribute, but first name on the teamsheet? Sigh.

Aye, agree with this. His antics, & subsequent lackluster performances in the second half of the season has seen him being severely underrated.

Perhaps the agent is the reason the move is taking so long? As in, City want Sterling to dump the agent before signing him. I reckon Berahino could have similar issues with clubs having reservations about going into business with this guy.

Edit: balls, thought I was in the Sterling thread

Doesn't sit that well with me either, but who else could take it? I would say Lucas but I'm not sure he features in Rodgers' plans for the future.

Skrtel. He's been one of our better players (didn't he win our player of the season in 11/12?) and a certain starter while he's at the club for at least a couple of years.

Assuming Lacazette is a no-go, I'm hoping we wrap up both Sterling out and Benteke in this week.

What's wrong with that? Fronted to Costa who backed down.

Actually Costa was mouthing off all that time and Henderson looked petrified. Imagine if this was Skertl, it'd be fireworks.
Makes you worry for the future of the NT if this wuss becomes captian.

Guess I have to see the whole thing as he doesn't look petrified in that clip.

"so frightened that one is unable to move"

Look carefully he doesnt move one bit. Even his eyes are fixated.

Yeah, it's a stare-down. Is there more footage of him actually shitting himself or is that your opinion based upon that video?

There is no way known he was so frightened he couldn't move.

No this is pretty much it, but he is clearly out of ideas. This reaction would probably be fine if it was a stare down. This wasnt though, Costa was throwing absues at him and hee seems out of his depth to come up with a response.

What a gay fight that would've been. The failed popstar twink vs the rough looking Goldie lookalike bear.

That Henderson / Costa clip is being way over analysed; trying to expose some weakness that isn't there. Costa is a professional wind-up and Henderson decided to eye-ball him. That's pretty much it.

Running out of ideas? Don't think it was an occasion for a repertoire of reactions and expressions.

Exactly - people making something out of nothing.

As regards him being captain, he is the right choice based upon those available.
I think we need to give him a chance.

Ince as captain was taking the piss.

There is nothing worth interpreting from a fecking staredown - that said, he looks ridiculous trying to act the hard man.

For a proper staredown, look at Shearer vs Keane.

Keane losing his shit, "hold me back lads, better hold me back", and Shearer is about a casual as if the in-laws small dog barked at him. You know he would deck Keane if it came to it. Proper hard.

Imagine having your club fall to the level of fans being excited that Jordan Henderson is captain.

In all honesty, I can't see who else but Henderson.

I think it's a good decision, but yes agree there aren't too many alternatives.

Would be a bit harsh to judge him just now anyway, let's give him a chance.

Shearer would deck Keane?
Are you sure about that?

Not a very inspiring choice for captain. Although I guess there were not many other alternatives.

Can't stand the guy, what's he trying to achieve with acting like a hard man? If anything he looks cringey with stuff like this.

So what is he supposed to do when Costa is yelling at him like that?

How well do you know him then?
And what exactly do you want him to do?

Please tell.

In all honesty, I can't see who else but Henderson.

Skrtl is more a captain I think, and much more suitable to be an ever present in the team.

Other than him the goalie. Not sure he is good enough really if they want to push for top 4, but the best they have and no signs of replacing him, and has shown some proper balls to keep going through the criticism to get to a decent level again.

Look at Henerson standing there, His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop bombs, But he keeps on forgetting what he wrote down, The whole crowd goes so loud, He opens his mouth, but the words won't come out He's choking how, everybody's joking now The clock's run out, time's up, over, bloW!
