Other Wingers?

All massive downgrades on Martial.

Well, no. They are unproven, they could come in and be far more effective than him. They could also come in and be just as effective, which is the main issue. It's not like Martial is pulling up trees at the moment, that's why we even have this issue with the wings.

So we should go for lesser proven players, at the expense of a player who has shown his quality and potential for us? Be interested to know where you drew that list of names up from. If we are bringing a winger in, it should be someone nearing their peak, we have plenty of potential already.

Well that entirely depends. Do you want to buy someone who will completely replace his position in the first team because he's better than him and nearing his peak - or do you want to have someone who can push him for his place and possibly improve or at least be another option similar to Martial who's hungry to impress. The list is just the wingers that aren't at top clubs In Spain that had the same sort of record as Martial last season. Piatti is the exception as he had a very productive season.

Marco Asensio, he's played LW for RM, is young with a world of potential...and has a release clause (72m today...likely being increased shortly).

No way he'd leave Madrid but would be the best signing of the summer.

A muppet can dream, can't he? We could offer him immediate first team starters minutes, access to CL as well as EPL contenders...with a large bump in wages, probably worth a go, no? Especially if RM gets Mbappe, keeps Bale and doesn't move Kroos or Modric. At that point he's not a starter at any position and battling with Mbappe/Bale, Kovacic, Isco and others for back up minutes.

Sorry mate, he's a gem for Real. Not going to happen.

Plenty of potential being Rashford and Martial? Dont we also have these reaching or at peak players though Miki, Mata, Lingard is in his mid twenties

Can we just hurry up and buy a fecking winger please???

It's so obvious that we've needed both right and left wingers for quite some time now. And if we don't address the problem soon, we're going to struggle a bit.

I wouldn't be that worried, if Jose looked like he was going to give Martial a good run on the left, but it looks less likely given the shun in the Super Cup.

I honestly think having an attacking LB would transform our left flank. They could provide the width, the final ball and create space for wide players we already have that are likely to cut inside. I believe if Martial was our starter on the left and had a full back behind him overlapping constantly he'd tear it up. Unfortunately I think Jose is too cautious to play two attack minded full backs and doesn't seem to trust Martial at all.

Lingard shouldnt be starting, mata and miki arent wingers. I think we need a right winger and a left back personally

Fullbacks=failed wingers in my opinion. We do need a decent fullback, but our need for a genuine wide-man is of importance too, and Mourinho knows it.

Demarai Gray has always looked a top class prospect any time if seem him play , doesn't seem to fit into Leicester's style is he still at them?

Maybe he is not the sexiest option out there, but throw the 50m at Chelsea instead of Inter and test if they'll sell us Willian.

Let's get Mor from Dortmund before he replaces Dembele and is worth a bucket load. Actually a player with a lot of talent so surprised to see him linked with Inter as would think they'd want to keep him. Maybe attitude issues. I have faith the Mourinho can make anyone behave.

If there is really a dearth of wingers to buy, I wouldn't mind a punt on Mahrez. I know he's been shit lately, but if we can get him for a reasonable fee, maybe Jose can coax a performance out of him.

I have a feeling Mourinho would be the worst thing to ever of happened to Mahrez if he played for us.

But RM doesn't have a say here if a buyer club activates release clause. Much bigger problem here would have been to persuade Asensio to join us - but theoretically it would be possible given he could play a much bigger role here compared to an occasional substitute at Madrid, and with a much higher wage too

I'm surprised Gelson Martins still at sporting, best winger playing in Portugal but his agent is not Mendes

Me too. Maybe Pereira being considered to change roles? Starting to look a bit risky this season, going in with literally no wingers bar Martial who could be awesome if given the chance.

Nobody can suddenly transform us from 6th place team to a title contenders. Bale, Griezmann, James or Neymar - it doesn't matter, when other attacking players have no understanding, confidence and a bit of freedom.

With Pogba, Ibra, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Martial and Rashford we have already had balanced and diverse attack, yet the team scored less than 60 goals in EPL last season. If Jose want somebody (Pericis, for instance) to add some depth - fine, but to assume that one player can change the whole situation by himself is very optimistic to say the least.

Alll that pointless mind games, micro analysing and public humiliation of your own players will not make players better (as we witnessed with Mkhi and Martial). Instead of doing the team of "warriors", wish Jose would try to inject some confidence and freedom to our game. Let flair attacking players try to create something without thinking about their mistakes, flaws and defensive contribution. Matic, Herrera, Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Jones and Rojo should be more than enough to cover our attackers defensive flaws.

Nevertheless, there is no doubt that Jose knows better, and regardless of his sometimes controversial desicions fans should support him in the process of building his team.

Probably a bit too soon for him. I like him though.

Yes, he still needs to develop and will play regularly in Bordeaux. I hope we get Perisic now.

Malcom though, he could reasonably be brought in during the January transfer window instead, since he would also be eligible to play for us in the Champions League, which can otherwise be an issue when doing business in the mid-season market.

Bordeaux didn't even get past the third round of the Europa League qualifiers, crashing out against the mighty Videoton almost two weeks ago. Which perhaps doesn't bode well, but that was a collective failure, not Malcom's individual shortcomings.

We need a RW more than a LW imo. Martial and Rashford, if they keep their early season form, are excellent there

Rashford and Martial are very direct - they will run at defenders and look for a one-two to get behind.

Perisic would bring something different in that he doesn't need to beat a man and can deliver the ball really well from what I've seen

hard to sign someone decent so late in the window

Rumours that Chelsea are preparing to bid for Perisic, although whether they actually want him or it is just to spite United after losing out on Matic and Lukaku is another story...

Going out on a limb here but Oxlade-Chamberlain. He's in the last year of his contract I believe (about 5 first team players ran down their contracts as Wenger is frankly crap)
