OT ticket price hikes for rest of season

Wow, maybe adjust the adults to £66 but absolutely do not adjust youth prices to the same level - that's beyond insane.

Do any other PL club do this across the board?

I know Villa have done it, but that's only in certain sections of the stadium.
Whilst I agree the youth price is a massive hike, the whole rest of the premier league has hiked prices this season, all teams have had to swallow higher costs across the board, and with their wage structures being what they are the easiest way to recoup extra cash is through match day revenue as it's a conveyor belt of cash.

Football is a business and we are the customers, if the product is still being brought at increased costs why would they decrease it?

I don't think this discussion is neccessarily about the increase in cost, as yes you can make a pretty decent business case for that.

What is totally unacceptable is to do this overnight through the season with zero consultation of the fans, when there are multiple committees which have been set up by the club exactly for this purpose.

Football is a business now but still has a duty to behave responsibly.

It's not broadband, I can't dump Man Utd for a better deal elsewhere.

This is isn't about increased ticket prices - ticket prices went up in the summer, the rise wasnt huge so there wasnt much of a fuss about it and I'm sure they will go up again next summer

this is about changing the way things have been done for years and years in the middle of the season without proper consultation with fan groups - the major issue is scrapping discounts for Youth & OAPs overnight

Fair enough. He's earnt the right to be trusted on it.

Looking forward to seeing how the club try and justify this. I'm really tempted to comment on a Richard McGagh LinkedIn post re FAB positions a few months ago and ask why no fans were consulted on this ...my only issue is I don't want my work colleagues seeing I'm focusing on this during working hours instead of my actual job.

Fan rep Rick?
I was banging on at him in a concourse the other week asking what he does and he just shrugged and said not alot

Couldn't argue with that.

Ratcliffe gonna’ Ratcliffe.

I’m not getting into the whole ‘I told you so’ nonsense. Supporters aren’t to blame. I just don’t think Tory Jim really gives much of a feck about the price of a ticket for the average Joe. I don’t think the club will bat an eyelid at any of the indignation.

I mean the club have shown before under INEOS that they will bow to fan pressure.

If people really want any business to take notice, vote with your wallets. United's prices are generous compared to other big clubs and certainly better value than most of the league.

They should have just put 20% on top of the price for those buying individual tickets.

I think its fair for season ticket holders, who are buying at least 19 games, to be paying less pro rata, than those buying just a few tickets a year.

What is unfair is making kids and OAPs pay £66.

They already do this for members.

Member price £51, ST holder £42 in Stretford end tier two for example.

So let me get this right. He reduces the amount of staff working at the club to save wages and then ups the ticket prices? Outrageous.

£66 for kids is grim. Like fecking utterly appalling. Completely moving the club away from working class kids.

Ì was gonna end my boycott this season to take my niece and nephew for their first matches but I don't think we can afford that now.

If you ever need tickets raise on the ticket thread here. Loads of good lads who are ST holders who can transfer at standard prices (for now!!!)

I’m not sure they have when it comes to the finances?

Ratcliffe doesn’t give two hoots about the supporters paying more money to watch the games. I can’t imagine you become Britain’s richest man by going back on that kind of decision, but I could well be wrong.

This is more important than any other issue at the club at the moment.
And it’s utterly tone deaf from INEOS, given the meagre amount it means to the business in terms of total income but a huge one to supporters who are just about scraping by.

This isn't a new thing, most clubs are doing likewise and did so at the start of the season, United are one of the last clubs left still allowing concession pricing in all games up til now.
They don't need to consult any fans on price rises, yes it's the correct thing do but they don't have too.
It really should be up to the premiership and/or Government to step in to cap any price rises for tickets, but for me the only way it will change is with a salary cap, that way expenditure is kept to a reasonable level and should filter down to the fan going experience.

When I noticed seats popping up for £499, for just one game, I started to have my concerns. If anyone is willing to pay that sort of money for a 90 minutes, then we are all doomed.

It will be the end of any sort of atmosphere, and will destroy the breeding conditions for younger fans to get hooked.

You'll have vloggers and influencers live streaming from the stands, and football tourists in Real Madrid tops.

It'll be like the Etihad, where people fork out a grand to watch the players lining up behind mirrored glass. Embarrassing.

Unfortunately, the salary cap hasn't stopped the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, and even the CPL from constantly increasing ticket prices. I had to stop going to Toronto Raptors matches despite the team being terrible because the ticket prices are the highest they've ever been. Toronto FC are increasing the prices for season tickets held by long-time holders. Even our local top-flight league in the CPL is increasing ticket prices with the exception of one team.

Only a regulator can stop this by introducing a cap on ticket prices.

Someone had a pair for Everton in the ticket thread so I thought I’d find a single so I could go along with two of my mates.

I thought nothing of the £66 price like an idiot as it was in south stand, but yeah now I realise I’ve already been shafted.

Definitely can’t take my little girl again this season which is a shame. £66 each plus food and whatever travel is more than I’m willing to spend going forward.

Unfortunately, as plenty of others have said, and even in my own case, some people will pay whatever and some people will pay in the heat of the moment and these leeches win.

The £499 is for hospitality seats, no? I paid around £150-180 for a Utd vs Liverpool seat but I live abroad now so its rare I get to visit and was a last minute thing. That was in a very slightly upgraded seat in a quadrant somewhere and not worth the premium.

That's partly because in isolation its not a terrible price. If you compare tickets to rugby union, cricket, London teams, theatre or concerts its still pretty 'cheap'. It gets egregious when you are paying an extra £10-20 for multiple tickets or across a season. It feels like a gamble that occasional match-goers like myself will stomach it for the 1-2 games a season we can get to.

They have started selling SHIT seats as 'premium' seats with the worst extras ever. Clubs claim to hold prices (through season tickets) but absolutely fleece members.

Fellow Toronto resident here who pays a minimum of $130 for a Leafs ticket if I go by myself and more like $200 if I'm getting a pair. It's painful and that's before $24 for a beer!

Where did you get this info? How many PL clubs exactly have done this?

And has any other club removed concession pricing in the middle of the season?
