OT EVACUATED | Device signed as having been recovered, could NOT be detected by sniffer dogs

Hope the young players get to play, should be nice for them.

Yeah it's a complete dead rubber now so Louis may as well chuck the kids and bench players in to keep the first team fresh for the cup final.

For fear of being officious, I'll be short with this. If you don't see my point or agree, well, cheers then. :)

The Blitz clearly had a larger scale than either Basra or Helmand. However, the guard has changed several times in the last 70 years. Furthermore, those were military munitions--which are vastly different than suspicious packages and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Yes, there are fundamentals that invariably passed down as part of modern British bomb squads' birthright, but I wouldn't get carried away with the association.

NI, Basra and Helmand were different and more modern animals. While not as busy as the Blitz, ritish military bomb squads faced plenty of IEDs. Especially in Basra and Helmand, these were often concealed or disguised. They had to identify, approach, assess and deal with them. IEDs are never exactly the same; they tend to vary quite a bit. There were to manuals available to tell you exactly what it was and how to deal with it as there were for German bombs.

I get your point that the Blitz was formative and still evident in British bomb teams. There's no arguing that, but your argument just ignores too much.

This is something I've researched and dealt with in my professional life. So yes, I am being serious. If you still reject my conclusion, no worries. We both have bigger fish to fry than this argument. :)

You really couldn't make this stuff up. Redcafe always seems to attract them.

I have a feeling he will put out a full strength team.

I actually think the reception will be worse for LVG now we haven't qualified.

It'll just be a dead, near to pointless game, in a half empty stadium.

I feel very sorry for all those fans faced with the huge expense of either driving all the way back again,2 days on, or those who have to consider if it's worth it booking another 2 night's hotel, and re-arranging flights.

At least start that way. Otherwise you run a slight risk of losing a bit of game mode from the players, although with West Ham midweek, less of a risk.

He'll want a point at least so the bench players should achieve that goal especially if Bournemouth reciprocate and rotate a fair bit themselves.

The cynic in me says this has saved LvG a potentially awkward day today, he could have been in for a rough ride, especially if we hadn't won, but now the fans know and will have accepted us not getting top 4, and will want to show up and be defiant on Tuesday, and fair enough, but I just hope LvG and the board don't mistake it for something it's not.

Late midweek game so the stadium will be empty as feck in the end when the players do the lap of honour and LVG gives his speech. That'll be fun.

Just caught up with the news and read most of this thread. Safety first, the way it should always be. Looks like they moved fast and decisively. Well done to the security guys etc.

Bottom line is the only thing that mattered today is the safety of people in and around the ground. LVG being saved an awkward today is just a footnote - which I'm sure you agree with (post not intended to sound like you don't, just emphasising it). As long as he gets sacked I don't care if he didn't get some more boos or got to see @Andy_Cole 's sign.

It's good that it's before the cup final, LVG would probably have rested players on Saturday otherwise.

The Palace game was a bit dead to say the least, so another midweek re-arrangement, with 2 days notice, can only be worse!

Wonder how full it'll be? 3/4max?

I imagine after the city result these guys would just forget it and go home. Missing a United game even if it's their first might just be worth it than seeing a game where I expect the atmosphere to be the worst in my lifetime at old Trafford.

Yep. Sometimes you have to cut your losses.

So probably they take the view that they are where they are now, money has already been spent, so not worth spending another few hundred quid and few days here, not to mention having to sort work out too.

It's sad really. But that's what I would do. People dream about being a match at Old Trafford and I can't think of anything worse than their first experience being as torrid as it will if they are there. I mean, I can't even describe how I think the atmosphere will be. Can't put into words.

There are no bets with LVG. He probably will play the strongest squad 'cause fans deserve a good show for the last match at OT' to only rest the main players in the Cup final because 'you have to conshider players ash humans, and they have to go to EUROs and so risk getting injured here'.

Of course, but s**t like this doesn't want dwelling on, it only boost the impact of crime, United dealt with it fantastically, no one was hurt, job done.

Now the focus returns to the football, win on Tuesday, the FA cup, and LvG gone, no misguided delusion on the boards part in the meantime please.

I'd lost all faith in the board making sound decisions long before this, so I'm not holding much hope.
