Omar Berrada: Manchester United aiming to win the title by 2028

By 2028 we MIGHT be able to finish in the Top 6

If I told my boss that I was aiming to meet my goals in three years time, I'd do gone in seconds. twat

Why is he and the board performing harakiri on the club?
Please wake up and do what is necessary asap!

Depends what your goals are. If you said you’re aiming to be promoted from regional chump to area manager in 3 years time he’d be very impressed and eager to see your success plan.

If you then proceeded to turn up hungover to work every day and cry at your desk because your wife left you I think that’s when it’d become clear you’re full of shite

Great, and I’m aiming to become the ultimate fighting champion by 2032.

If one of your objectives is to double revenue/increase revenue by 50%….i think your boss might be okay with a 3 year plan. But yeah, a lot can change in football in a very short space of time. It wasn’t really necessary for him to add a date in there, IMO.

My bosses - nature of the job - want here and now... and sometimes "yesterday"

Aargh yeah, makes sense and definitely varies from role to role, company to company, person to person. Berrada is a CEO, so usually their objectives are fairly mid to long term/strategic in nature. I’d say a 3 year period is alright but I did edit my initial post re football in particular.

And I was reacting to being so pissed off and miserable thinking about the club I love turning into a clown show almost as ridiculous as a Boris Johnson government!

Yeah man, tell me about it. We’ve become a laughing stock, internationally. Here’s hoping the next permanent appointment turns it around….its the hope that kills you

It should not be taking another 4 years. Guardiola won it in like his 2nd in England didn’t he? Klopp was challenging in like 2/3 years.
Guardiola took over a far, far stronger squad than we have now.

Klopp didn't challenge for the league until his third full season, and he'd been Liverpool coach for almost three years at the start of it. And by then they'd struck absolute gold 4 times in the transfer market, managing to sign 4 players that turned out to be world class (Mané, Salah, Van Dijk, Alisson).

Ye but klopp did show signs of his style within 3 years.

This goal feels like a complete fantasy at the minute.

Tbf, even at the time it was described as "ambitious". And that was at a point where they were still backing ETH as the manager, before the season went to shit.

Things can change quickly in football, if United get recruitment spot on over consecutive windows things can change drastically.

It's what's transcended Forest and Chelsea's more recent resurgence.

The bigger question for me is if INEOS have the resources to create that change because it's not just recruitment that will be the financial burden in pursuit of success but also contemplating the new stadium.

I bet forest would say the same if you thought they’d be 3rd this time last year after being 17th. A lot can change in a year. Recruitment needs to be spot on though.

As a CEO he is currently failing. Whilst expectations shouldn't be that we are challenging for a title, the stadium is being built, etc what he should be judged on is whether he is showing leadership. At the moment he is not. The whole issue with Ashworth, extending Ten Hag only to sack Ten Hag, we hear more from Ratcliffe than we do from him. He is coming across as indecisive and weak.

Needs a miracle next couple of windows. The number of players we need to get rid off is incredible.

It’s ridiculous to think this is unachievable.

Look at Chelsea they’ve gone through seasons of being completely mediocre. Now they are a season away from challenging.

There are some teams way above us who are easily toppled in one good season next year. Villa, Bournemouth, Brighton and Notts Forrest.

The cards are also stacked in our favour when it comes to top 4.

City need a rebuild.

Arsenal have hit their ceiling.

Chelsea unfortunately look strong.

Spurs are way out of it.

Liverpool are flying but van dijk is 33 and salah at 32 as well as Trent demanding to be paid as the top earner. This may be their last great season before a rebuild is needed and replacing salah and VDV is not going to be easy.

It’s an equal playing field and with some decent recruitment and a young exciting manager there’s no reason why we can’t get in that mix. We are at rock bottom now so the only way is up.

It is possible to overhaul a lot of things really quickly and have it work - see Chelsea this season, or Arsenal when they came in from the wilderness. Both were jokes.

Arsenal’s wasn’t quick. Chelsea spent £1.2bn in the space of 18 months.

Arsenal bounced from 8th to 2nd in a relatively short space of time, Chelsea 12th to where they are now.

Amorim’s contract is expired in 2027. Who’s the lucky manager or the lucky head coach going to make us winning our first league title since 2013?

Let's discuss this in like 3 months time.
