Omar Berrada: Manchester United aiming to win the title by 2028

They kept him only by default though. I’d have been worried if they handed him a brand new contract a day after the FA Cup win and we’re seeing what’s playing out now. It took them almost a whole month before deciding to activate the one year extension on his existing contract. Hardly the most ringing endorsement and that’s not even including all the stuff that happened in the buildup to the FA Cup Final.

ETH is just a placeholder as they decide who they actually want in. He’s pretty much the last football-related figure in power from the Glazer regime.
Yup. I agree with that. He definitely doesn’t seem to be the one they want to lead their project and that fills me with hope.

May 2028 is in 27/28 season, so two seasons after this one. A big ask considering the shape of our squad, and profile of players we're buying.

We’ll play close to 200 matches before the 27/28 season starts, and have gone through 7 transfer windows.

After 150 matches and 5 transfer windows we should be able to look like a top team again in the 26/27 season.

It feels far more realistic to look that long term. Refreshing.

Why do get the feeling this super backroom team that's been assembled aren't all that super.

You watch a half of football like that and it makes you think we're more likely to have established ourselves as a perennial mid-table club by 2028 than we are to establish ourselves as a perennial contender for the title.

Woodward mk2 can feck off with this cheap talk. Action speaks louder than words. He has wasted an entire season backing someone anyone with functioning brain cells knew was a clueless clown.

Nice thought, Omar...but maybe you shouldn't have kept a failing manager for another season and given us a head-start.

So far the major sign of incompetent of Ineos Team is keeping ETH.

They did attempt a replacement but there was nobody available to take us forward.

What truly terrifies me is Berrada suggesting we go for a title in 2028.

That's code for a yes-man to arrive and cock it up for three years. Potter fits the bill but so does Southgate. 'Give them time' and such. Whilst we continually fail, this Ineos lot coin it in, turning our club into a marketing wing of their master's company.

EtH is a goner. I gave him my backing last season due to injuries and the late cup win, but this season has been simply absymal. The players can do one, also. Not up to it.

But the replacement within the remit of appeasing Jim Ratcliffe with PR feelers in media feeding us 'jam tomorrow' is more terrifying and ominous than another ten years of ten Hag.

As a chance to save our season if he doesn’t wait till after Christmas to sack him.

Losing faith in Ineos little by little the longer they keep Ten Hag.

I refuse to believe that there is no coach better than ETH. McKenna just outplayed Villa with a team build with shoestring budget compared to us.

Ineos Team supposed to be a team of best in class football people. If they can't find a better manager than ETH, then I am very worry. So far is all talk and no action. They way the handle ETH situation is very very incompetent.

Woodward had better standards. He won't keep a manager that finished 8th

Brighton have a better shot at winning a title by 2028 than we have.

Needs to move today and show intent if they are serious.

No doubt that senior management must now find a new manager for the summer.

Give it to Ruud in the meantime.

Massive cock up to stick with ETH, then another cockup to buy more Dutch players.

Feck! I've set up alarm everyday for 2028 as well. It's all ruined now.

C'mon now. Focus his ire on EtH yes but we've hardly had much of any players set the world alight at United regardless of national origin. Even players that came in with much higher expectations/stature. This is on the club and manager. We have a decent squad with a few remaining who have been given way too long of a leash

In fairness he didn't specify which title he meant.
The title of biggest underachievers should be odds on.

"Most likely to be shat on by an angry Scotsman wearing a feathered ghillie suit with cardboard wings on his arms" is likely to be an option as well...

Maybe the CEO should focus on the here and now instead of making empty promises for the future?
