Omar Berrada | Man Utd CEO

Quite clear we've been trying to find a replacement behind the scenes for some time and once confirmed they sacked him.

The fact it wasn't in the media spotlight happening is the best thing.

The media had no clue, they tried to link managers to the job and hope it sticks, I didnt see many, if any linking us to Amorim in the last month. The media kept pushing its Southgate agenda and the caf lapped it up.

Its clear that they do things that are not in the media, from hiring Berrada to the manager.

The Telegraph and Mirror tried their best to guess but got it miserably wrong.

Absolutely mental that all the media are going with the 'United have FINALLY signed Amorim'. It was a few days, done and dusted. Very efficiently done!

It's cause the absolute weirdos posted an article about him every hour. Made it feel like a long time for them

Because they made so many pieces on it, any normal media coverage would have simply been:
- United rumoured to be interested in Amorin
- United officials travel to Portugal
- Deal believed to be agreed, finer negotiations happening about things no one really cares about
- Done deal

He was THE plan otherwise this couldn't have happened so efficiently. Wonder why he wasn't appointed in the summer!

Arguably it should have happened in the summer.

Laurie Whitwell was on Talk of the Devils saying that they had discussed appointing Amorim in the summer but because of a combination of his release clause being higher in the summer and them being a bit uncertain about Amorim, decided not to go for him.

If you wanted to give Ineos the benefit of the doubt, I'd say that because of the uncertainty around the Ashworth gardening leave situation, they were/are treating this season as 'Year 0'. Essentially, that Ashworth will come in this season and build the recruitment, sports science, medical etc. departments over the season and then have the targets for next summer lined and ready to go for the new manager to come in and hit the ground running. Keeping Ten Hag then allows them to keep a bit of stability while Ashworth rebuilds the club. Plus, gives them another year to assess the managers, like Amorim, Hoeness, McKenna, Marco Silva, De Zerbi etc. i.e., managers they clearly like but are unsure if they are good enough to be United managers. Also gives Ten Hag room to show that last season was because of injuries and he can fix the problems and turn it around.

But I think because we've started the season so badly, and because Sporting have started the season so well (9 wins out of 9 in the league with 30 scored and 2 conceded, 7 points out of a possible 9 in the Champions League), it's essentially made up their mind on both Amorim and Ten Hag - Whitwell alluded to this (the Amorim part) on the pod. Also said that the Amorim pursuit was led by Berrada.

Seems to me the whole summer situation with the manager stems from the Ashworth gardening leave fiasco with Newcastle. Have to wonder if Ineos might have been better off just going for a different Director of Football once it became clear Newcastle were going to be difficult. Might have saved them 14 games worth of trouble.

Now you'd have to hope both Amorim and Ashworth are worth the wait.

Taking Omar from City
Ashworth from Newcastle
Wilcox from Southampton
Now Amorim from Sporting
Ineos are leaving a trail of distruction in their wake and whole lot of pissed off clubs.

Good post and makes sense

Under the old stooges we would only just today be getting briefs about how they will take their time to conduct a full process with due diligence and high tech just to end up with a name anyone could have polled on reddit.

We can all wish that the sacking happen sooner but Omar did what needed to get done. A few weeks earlier would have been preferable but here we are now and we are digging ourselves out of the Moyes/VanGaal/Jose/Ole/ten Hag hole the Glazers put us in.

Yet Ineos are still getting criticised

Did they have to choose the dopiest looking photo of him?

To be fair, that’s the face of a man who’s just told a room full of Portuguese blazers that he’s poaching their entire coaching staff 9 games in to an unbeaten season.

It’s the same face I pull when trying to tell my wife I’m going playing golf the morning after a night on the piss.

This guy is a baller. He gets things done. He clearly has a vision and he goes for it full throttle. The way they sacked Ten Hag on Monday and by Friday had tied up a complex deal, mid season, for one of the most sought after coaches in Europe is impressive, to say the least.

Omar "Big Balls" Berrada. Huge set on him.

You have to remember that a lot of media criticism comes from journalists less interested in football than they are in millionaires, billionaires and the cosy life of luxury they can suck out of the shag in their carpets. They love being wined and dined and the special feeling they get from the money thrown their way in the name of sports washing. They get nothing from people trying to run a club that doesn't need their megaphone to succeed. Nothing. It's a nicer life enjoying the warm embrace of a despot using them to make-believe their new money nothing club is something it isn't.

Omar’s coming

he's got a big decision today if the result stays the same

the name to replace EtH is Amorim.....we need to bring the lad in before Pep steps away from City and Viana tries to bring him to City from Sporting
You must be soon happy, calling it in 2 weeks before anyone else.

This is a perfect post. Just an exceptional expression of truth, that so many of us know but would struggle to put into such concise words.
