Absolutely, at a point in this whole restructuring he’s going to be asked “are you willing to work under this new structure?”, and that will be one that involves him having very little to do with recruitment, except maybe being involved in conversations regarding areas to strengthen. Which means he’ll be judged purely on the results and the way the team play. So even if he does accept his role being marginalised, he won’t last long if things stay like this.

Well, he was the CEO, so I guess he managed the club. He would surely have known about what was going on.
And even if just transfers, there were surely dodgy payments involved there too.
Was he in charge of/played a part in player contracts? Hasn't everyone kinda assumed they've been making hidden payments to players for years now?
Perhaps this chap wasn't involved at all, I have no idea, but Man City's dodgyness isn't just sponsorship deals.

It's sad that a good CEO appointment is was constitutes a game changer for a football club.
Of course because CEOs are supossed to be competent but the ones we had were impotent in their decisions making. Things that are normal for other clubs are improvement to us.

Dunno why people are anxious about him being involved in Citeh charges. We use his service to improve he club and if he is found guilty, sack him and find a new CEO. Its that simple. He's never been the CEO of City. He's had multiple roles first at Barca then at City, each one stepping up in responsibility, and appeared to be on course to be their next CEO when their current one left or retired. But he hasn't had that role in the past before joining us.
In saying that, he has been senior enough that I personally doubt he didn't at least know about the dodgy stuff, if not involved personally.

I don’t think there’s been any evidence of hidden payments to players and according to their own figures, City have one of the largest wage bills in football. They also spread it across a relatively small first team squad where they focus on quality, not quantity.
Given that they are amongst the best paid players in the world, they get to work with Guardiola and are virtually guaranteed medals, I don’t find it hard to believe that the official figures for their wage bill is accurate.
What is far less plausible (to the extent that they’re being charged for it) is that their income has been hugely - and illegally - inflated. You mentioned dodgy sponsorship deals, but what they’re being charged for is fraud on an industrial scale.

This kind of decisive move is in stark contrast with the endless delays and prevarication which we've endured over nearly two decades. It's always been clear that the Glazers are awful at making decisions (among other things). They always lacked this key leadership skill.
As much as anything, this appointment, and the manner of it, shows a professionalism that's been sadly lacking before now. I'm hopeful it's a sign of huge change.

I guess the financial incentives and theories about him jumping a ship sinking off the weight of 115 charges aside - if he does manage to spearhead us back into the footballing elite, then that'll perhaps be his crowning achievement to top off an already illustrious legacy. That's enough of an incentive I think.

Head of recruitment is supposed to be a position above the Chief scout and the chief analyst. It can be someone that is independent or one of the DOF's assistant. Basically the position always exist but it's not necessarily formal. Also head coaches aren't really part of this, in the sense that while their input might be valued, it's not necessary.

For context, he was director of partnership sales (Sept 2013 - Jan 2015) and senior VP group commercial director Jan 2015 -September 2016, before moving onto more senior roles at the club, culminating in the COO role in 2020. Its almost inconceivable that he wasn’t involved in the club’s sponsorship deals during this period, and indeed prior to this period, he joined the club in 2011.
We're in a strange era of football where players identities are less important than they used to be. Now it's about the backroom staff, perhaps there will be massive announcement vids for clubs upgrading to Windows 13.
No, but offering him his first chance for CEO is probably one of the big reasons why he agreed to join us. Everybody needs a chance to grow professionally and we will be his chance to grow
