I agree with this. The Olympics should be about minority sports, and those where the althletes do not earn 5 million quid+ per year.

To them the biggest event in the games is the basketball, and they revel in winning. Don't they understand its a 2nd rate sport in every other country and they are beating amateurs.
The thing that really ticked me off the other day was they decided to show the US basketball team live in a preliminary game, instead of the Mens 100m. They just don't get what the Olympics are about.

Of course the Americans are gonna favor the American events(or at least the ones the US are doing good in), doing otherwise would be anti-American. It would be like me complaining about not getting to the NFL games I want to on tv in Britain
That is total Bollox M8. The Mens 100m is a blue ribbon Olympic event, it trumps national interest. SO they couldn't delay the basketball 30 seconds to slot the 100m in live. It wasn't a medal match, just some irrelevant prelim.
The US coverage has been absolute crap, and many Americans aren't happy with it either.
I'm not saying it hasnt myself, it's been worse than fecking awful. I had to wait an hour til 100 Fly was posted on youtube to see the race.
That said usually the 100 meter champion is decided post race after the drug testing results are released
So why wait 13 hours to show the semis and final? In all fairness the champion only failed a drug test once in 41 Olympics. My guess is if Gay had made the final and looked good enough to win gold they would have showed it live, which is sad IMO.

Daft thing is they have about 5 channels covering the Olympics, and most team sports are on two special channels. They could have showed the basketball on one of those, and had a flash screen to tell people where to watch it.

i kinda got a clue that US tv coverage was poor when the beeb got michael johnson as a pundit same goes for the tennis when the beeb get mcenroe for it all except for the final.
McEnroe sometimes get in the way tbf, he is great in the studio. As long as Enberg is doing the tennis I am fine, especially when he is drunk and freaks out continuously throughout the match
The quality is OK, decent presenters and some good filler stores but the timings have been crap.

We have a great chance of 2 more golds tmrw. The girl from Crewe in the BMX and Phillips Idowu in the triple jump. They are both favourite for gold.

- Women's Pentathlon (two decent Brits)
- Taekwondo
The Russians look good for golds in:
- 50km walk
- Men's Pole Vault
- Rhythmic Gymnastics (Should get one, might get two)
- Women's Handball (They are in the final against Norway)
- Team sync swimming
They also have a chance in:
- Men's Volleyball (In the semis - Brazil are favs though.)

Thanks for that summary. Looks to be a close one. Gutted Phillips must out on the triple jump, thought it was going to be his time.
We could also get one in the horse jumping. One of horses was one of eleven to manage a clean first round in the final.
On reflection. I reckon Russia will just about squeeze us out for third. The russians should manage at least 20 fairly comfortably. If they get 20 we would need 21 to stay ahead in the table and that looks very tough.
We could have done with Phillips getting a gold. Oh well, his time will come in 2012.
