I would love to know what it is about him that's causing him to be completely untouchable, as I'm completely baffled.

If it's purely the ex player thing, we must never go down that route again, as clearly we can't put sentimental aside even in the greatest underperforming instance possible.

I even thought he'd done the job he was appointed to do and had laid some green shoots of recovery but he/ the board are digging us into a deeper and deeper hole. If our good players leave, which is very likely unless he's removed, I'm struggling to see a way back.

I think it purely the club are struggling to find a viable alternative to step in if they were to sack him, is a caretaker going to do any better than Ole is suspect is the question they are asking themselves? So much so that it is worth the relative risk? If Ole manages to steady the ship in the next month and keeps us in the top 4 come season end then the options to come in become easier to get.

Zidane is the only available viable option and is not the perfect choice and he isn't that sold on the idea (if reports are to be confirmed) Rodgers is probably the only in work manger we could convince to come this season and again is Rodgers worth the risk now only to potentially mis out on ten hag at end of season.

It is a question of when not if with Ole going at some point but the lack of immediate viable options is extending his stay for now.

Of course if by Christmas we are still in this slump and are dropping to far behind the top 4 than they may have to take that risk for the sake of making sure this season doesn't go completely down the pan.

Which Ex-united player should take over from Ole if you must choose an ex-united player?

I came on to see if Ole had been spotted yet. Is he still on Oleday? Thread seems to have derailed somewhat. Looks like everyones losing their minds.

Yeah but is it worth the risk? The opening game against Young Boys should’ve been a clue that anything could happen, and last seasons shitshow in Istanbul and group stage exit should’ve served as warning about where it could lead. Why give him the chance to balls it up again?
Yes your right, but we must believe that we can beat Young Boys IF we don't get a result from Villareal game.
Surely that would be the end for Ole if we didn't qualify.

Ten points should see us qualify as Sir Alex always used to say. We now have seven and if we beat Young Boys at home on the last game day, we will be through regardless of how we do at Villarreal. Are there any permutations that we can’t qualify if we get these ten points?

You’d hope so, but he should’ve been sacked already so waiting until we drop out is just a waste - a bit like waiting until we don’t finish 4th.

We lose to Villarreal and then they lose away to Atalanta (who would need to beat Young Boys too). That would put Atalanta on 11 points and then it would come down to goal difference between Villarreal and us if they beat us by only 1 goal (there's is currently 3 better so would be at least 5 better if they beat us although we would have the easiest game last and they would have to lose for this possibility to arise).

I think we can still go out on GD if we lose against Villareal. If Villareal lose their next match, and Atalanta win their both, we might go out.

Off the top of my head I think if we lose by 2 or more to Villarreal and Atalanta win their remaining 2 games, though I might be wrong.

Villareal V Atlanta will be a draw, and we will beat Young Boys 4-0 and Ole at the wheel will ring out again.

I think mods should just lock this thread temporarily. Its quite clear he isn't going to be sacked anytime soon and we're just going round and round in circles talking about the same thing. And now i'm seeing posts about warning points and whatnot.

We lose to Villareal, beat YB. Atlanta win both games.

So Atlanta is 11, we are 10 and Villareal are 10. Comes down to head to head between us and Villareal. Lose 1-0 and we lose the H2H on away goals, if we lose by more than 1 then we lose on aggregate and are out.

So best case lose 3-2 to Villarreal to get Ole out, then beat YB to go through on H2H away goals.

Thinking back in Oles time here his culture reboot was essentially turning us from a club who sometimes win a trophy into one that never wins a trophy.

It's a sack watch thread and hes on the ropes. Weird take.

Eh sure but he did brought the good times back to Old Trafford. You can't put a price on that.

I'll be telling my grandkids, and hopefully their grandkids, about how we were doing cartwheels in the street that day we beat Newcastle 4-1.

Its a bloody strong rope he's holding onto!

My comment was more in relation to the hopeless situation we're in right now, stuck with a poor manager but an even poorer board who are simply incapable of making good decisions.

We aren't just going to discuss when he's about to get sacked. It's inevitable so it'll be discussed. I get what you mean about it going round in circles but at this stage there is nothing else worth discussing over Ole at the club.

It's funny he was brought in to fix the club after Jose and after some highs we are left at the exact same stage - disjointed squad, players looking like they are downing tools, miles off the top and the season in limbo.

Abuse towards our players and manager is expected from opposition fans on social media, just as it is in football stadiums - that's just the way it is - but when it comes from United fans? That's just plain weird.
United fans on social media will be most likely to send abuse, because we're such a behemoth club it will have darker pockets of social media relative to others.

If Ole got abuse in a stadium or in person from public showings then its a completely different matter.

It doesn't sit well with me the shite football and terrible management we see each week. Do we as fans deserve that?

Again personal vile abuse is uncalled for but Mates Rates FC is just as nauseating.

There's been plenty of Prem managers down the years who've got way more abuse than Ole and nowhere near as much sympathy, its all very bizarre

I hope we never hire another ex-player again!

Cronyism at its finest right now at our club.

In the summer, I was certain Ole was a better coach than Southgate. Now I'm not so sure. Still both shite, mind.

This is getting stranger by the day. All these ex players back from the 90ies feeling the need to interfere.

He's only saying what many of us are thinking, the abuse aimed at Ole from a section of United fans isn't right. It's completely unnecessary. You can air your grievances regards his management of the club without resorting to abuse, name-calling.

I legit don't get why that is so hard to understand for some people.

Agree 100%. Some of the comments on instagram and twitter especially are a disgrace.

Any anger and vitriol really needs to be directed at our board for being a complete set of nincompoops.

Spot on, criticism of ole is more than fair and it’s fair to say we should be looking for a new manager. But some of personal and childish attacks on him are ridiculous.

I don't as a managet. As a player yes. As a manager I wasn't sure and thought we appointed permanently too.fast.

The point is that criticism is fine. Childish, disrespectful, emotional toddler strops are not.

The place is hysterical.
