I don't get this stuff?

If he was a a total loser as a manager he have never lasted this long. We would have been a shitshow the whole time he has been here. He's done well in the league since he came in. Most consistent since Fergie regards finishing high up the table.

This season has really brought out the venom.
Some of the stuff I'm reading from fans towards him is f##king shocking to be honest
One of the most expensive squads in the world finishing in top 4! how is that an achievement? What did he achieve that LVG and JM did not and they themselves was sacked deservedly?

I’ve come to accept the fact that he’s staying until at least Christmas, but having said that and looking at the bigger picture, I’d actually be extremely concerned if we lost to Watford and he got sacked. That would just prove upper management is beyond incompetent.

Show consistency in the league for more than a single season

What was that other season ? In his first season we scrapped into top 4 in literally the last 2 weeks of the season. We were shit in the first half and only played well in the last few weeks post COVID, finished top 4 with 66 points. Hardly "consistency".

Those LVG Zealots were absolutely bonkers.
Every time Jose won a match, one of them would pop up their head and say that the reason why we won that match was because LVG's foundation (which had to be ripped out when Jose arrived).
Used to drive me mad, the shit he left for Jose

70 and 66 points for LVG vs 69 and 81 points for Jose vs 66 and 74 points for Ole.

I don't see much difference except for Mourinho in his second season, the final position with Ole is a result of our rivals getting weaker (Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs) more than anything else. People here celebrated 3rd when we finished on the same points as Chelsea who had a transfer ban and Lampard as manager. The standards have been lowered for Ole, there's no doubt about that.

Am I wrong in thinking that he's our only manager post Fergie with back to back CL qualifications?

I'm firmly of the opinion that Ole has taken us as far as he can and needs to be replaced, but let's not pretend everything was shit under him and that he did a terrible job throughout.

Enough with this back to back CL thing. We got back to back CL under Mourinho, regardless of it being through the league or not.

Anyway, we were talking about him having United being consistent in the league. That's not true. His first season was shit mostly except for the last few weeks post COVID which saw us scrapping into top 4 with 66 in the last 2 weeks alongside Leicester having a complete free fall.

Consistency means that we were a persistent top 4 throughout the majority of the season which the reality is we weren't in his first season and we're not now. We were only that in his second season so hardly anything different from the previous managers.

He did a terrible job indeed considering the amount of money he splashed on the squad with nothing significant to show for.

If we lose to Watford I don't see how he can continue. They'll have to sack him.

We'll defeat Watford and get a draw vs Villareal which will ease the pressure again around him till the next loss against Chelsea. Rinse and repeat.

Either replace him or have the balls to come out and say he’s got the season. The club have no respect for the fans, the players are all over the place and the manager has lowered the clubs’ standards to his own pathetic level. Please don’t tell me his job hangs on Watford. Fecking Watford my arse.

Its a business and you are a customer.

When you accept that you will see it for what it is. Football doesn't matter to them

So I come into the thread, see there's been 7 new pages, got my hopes up, got disappointed...

It seems enough fans have already accepted this, the Glazers and other board members probably can’t believe their luck in how passive this fanbase is. Manchester United have all the resources to be consistently challenging at the very top, yet if fans demand that they may be labelled ‘spoilt’ and ‘entitled’ by fellow supporters.

Correct. Does anyone listen to Whitwell and Mitten on the Athletic Man Utd podcast? They epitomise the lack or urgency being shown by fans.

Well yeah....any set of fixtures is alarming for us because we could get humiliated by pretty much any team.
The only team we have convincingly beaten recently was Spurs and they were so bad, their manager got fired immediately after the game.
We can't keep relying on playing a team so bad that they fire their manager straight after.
What I mean is that those teams are not exactly the hardest group like they were claimed to be in the post I replied to, they don’t need singling out

Yea, he ain't going anywhere is he. 2nd week of the international break, not a peep from the board. They're clearly hoping all the noise quietens downs and to be honest, other than the United fans on social media, it really has. I haven't heard much from the media, the little I've seen seems to be a load of balls.

So desperate I am for change I'm even warming to the idea of Brendan effing Rogers!

Says how desperate we are that we are counting the number of pages.
I've come to accept that he's here for the season tbh. Club would look absolutely idiotic if they decide to sack him within the next two weeks when they just had a 2 week international break to do the dirt.

Wonder what page this will reach before he is finally sacked.

I'm going to plump for 650.

We are currently one of the worst teams in the league. Not in terms of playing personnel but in every other aspect we are. We probably have the worst manager in the league.

Class of our players will probably see us through those fixtures, thus buying him even more time

Yup, playing Norwich away with Dean Smith who beat us with Villa. Playing Newcastle away with Eddie Howe who’s no mug at all. And Newcastle actually gave us a game before a couple moments of brilliance saw us through. Playing Brentford away who are brilliant. Brighton who have been playing great and Potter is a really good manager.

That after playing Villarreal away, Chelsea, and in form Palace.

You can’t just look at the names, you have to look at the managers were playing.

Heck, we could even lose to Watford, we’ve done it before. I’d fancy Villarreal and Chelsea to beat us. Arsenal and Palace could potentially too. He’s going soon I think. I don’t think players will put up with it. And the board will have to act.

I agree, but that would then be presuming out board have common sense.

Hannibal has been injured half the season. He’s spoken about him being groomed for Pogba’s position.

the others, just because he bought them doesn’t mean that they are ready for right now.

yes I’d question some of the decisions taken by him, the coaches and the club especially this season. I personally wouldn’t have kept mata, Lingard or grant.

Last year United spent the entire summer trying to get what was thought to be Ole's no 1 signing ie Sancho. He was supposed to be one if not the most expensive player during the Covid summer irrespective whether we bent to Dortmund will or vice versa. The two clubs dig their heels, Sancho wasn't signed and we ended up with Diallo and Pellistri instead.

We were told that Diallo was scouted for half a year but our bid took Atalanta by surprise. In fact he was a step away from signing with Parma which lead with both clubs (ie Atalanta and Parma) burning bridges because of pulling the loan deal in the last minute. So we can safely say that if Ole had his way then we would have signed Sancho which in turn would probably have lead us not signing the other two.

Pellistri was immediately sent on loan while Amad barely got a sniff. The kid scored an important goal against Milan only to vanish in the reserves once more. This summer Ole signed Sancho, he begged Mata and Lingard to remain with both handled contract extensions for them to sign and he sent Pellistri on loan again. That means that we've got 3 English internationals (Sancho, Greenwood and Lingard) and a former Spanish international ahead of Diallo and Pellistri. So I very much doubt that the pair has a future at least in short-mid term especially when the manager in question is known to play the same few players again and again even if that means running them to the ground.

Ole speaks about kids, about attacking football and the United DNA. After Liverpool's game he spoke about him being very close to something only to have Pep's City toying with our team and him. So we can safely presume that what Ole says is very very different to what Ole does.

A lot. Ronaldo made fun of the manager on live TV. What if the players refuse to train under him or worse come out with public statements of discontent? It's just a matter of time.
Didn't happen.

However you cut it Ole does not have a fecking clue about how to build or manage a squad at this level. Two windows and £73m chasing Sancho and yet has no idea where he's even playing him.

Overplay 'Ole's guys' to the point of chronic injury, and alienate all the squad players. Textbook.

I don't think they have common sense at all, but they do have a fear of media backlash and a fear of looking like they have no common sense which would happen if they fire him within the next 2 weeks.

You're not necessary wrong but that's not the scope of that particularly conversation.

He's not going anywhere guys.
We'll beat Watford and Ole will be at the wheel again.

Then in the summer we'll face a player exodus and he'll describe how we have to rebuild again and he needs 3 more years.

Posts like these - This is why I talk about patience around our youth players. Most of them aren’t ready for PL or Manchester United first team. The players will get their chance when they are ready
And who would judge them ready, if Iay ask? The same manager who thought it prudent to waste £80m on Maguire, the same guy who led us to the most humiliating defeat at OT in a century?

Thing is I don't trust Ole or any decision he takes, for all we know Amad was as ready as Sancho when he came in but was held back even after scoring an important goal in Europe and I suspect that move was more cynical, why would the board approve spending on Sancho if Amad doing the business?

Yes you are wrong, Jose also did it.

I just really don't get why he doesn't atleast try something different, give different players a chance and not play players who aren't in form.
It's just baffling.

the problem is he will just throw random shit out there and see what sticks. just like the recent switch to a 3 man backline. He just is tactically clueless and has no idea how to train a club properly to implement anything close to a system.

He has limitless support by the board

If the alternatives are two eternal losers like Poch and Rodgers, I can’t disagree

Well the people who see them play every match. Not just their coaches but also most fans who are regular watchers could tell you. That’s why some have gone on loan. Some are killing it on loan, others not so much.
sometimes players get unlucky or lucky such as Wilson and will Keane who were both ahead of Rashford according to LVG but both got injured as did fellaini etc so he had no choice but to play Rashford who took his chance and kept his place from them on.
i suspect we might see Hannibal a bit more after Christmas if he comes back well from that injury. Maybe elanga too. Diallo I suspect will go on another loan

fook knows why they bought Diallo and Sancho.‘I’m guessing Sancho was the long term target but the chance to get Diallo was there before he went elsewhere. We might still see both if we go 442 or 433 as both can play both sides
