I am past it now. I am not going to be shocked at anything about this club anymore. They could sack Ole today and give Carrick a five year contract tomorrow as the new manager. That's how stupid these people are.

Watford don’t have enough quality to beat us. The sheer talent alone in our squad will see us beat them. Not so sure about Villarreal away though, think we can scrap through with a draw

This is what worries me. Rather than act when they should’ve done, the board are perfectly fine with treating the absolute crunch matches at the end of our CL group as basically an audition for a job Ole shouldn’t be in anyway. “Well if he goes out of the group then we’ll just sack him.”

It’s like they don’t realise how big the last two games are. Why risk them?

They are likely counting on Ronaldo to deliver in the CL again, and he almost always does. As for Ole, I don’t think they want to keep him, it’s just that they probably can’t find a manager right now, or trying to convince someone to take over now before sacking Ole

Yeah, that's how it works. Villa are at the front of a long queue that say hello.

Oles at the wheel
Tell me how shit does it feel
We got Mctom, Paul pogba and Fred
A crap sandwich without the bread

Lads, Ole will be returning to the training ground in about an hour. We go again. This is a fresh start, the past is the past, we are a wounded animal. The players believe in what we are doing, we have excellent coaches. We will compete

What I cant unterstand is how the board didn’t take this chance now. The new coach could’ve had 2 weeks with many first team players and an easy game against Watford. But they still decide to stick with Ole. What if we lose against Watford how are they going to sack him. 2 days later we play Champions League and on the weekend Chelsea I think. No time whatsoever after the Watford game. And whatever coach comes in is going to have it way harder than now.

It's funny imagining the suits at our club running from pillar to post trying to get a new manager. All with their criteria of the new appointment necessarily being a yes man and conformist.

White text?

The tweets from those pondlife sources are hilarious. Folks should just accept Ole is not going to be sacked right now. This could be a good thing long term as it could mean we get Ten Hag, who is the best candidate IMO.

I hope he enjoyed this well deserved rest and everything points and Ole turning it around now, so exciting times to be United fan. I’m sure the players are also motivated and pumped seeing you can give performances like we did in last week and it’s completely fine with hierarchy and many fans, this has to have them playing at 110%.

I’m disgusted and I’m sure so are our players. What a great move for Glazers was hiring Ole, he could be the least tactically capable manager in the league and we’d still not protest against a “legend” humiliating us in front of the opposition, with a smile on his face as he pockets millions and continues a job he’s completely unqualified for. Grim days, can’t really imagine how actually ambitious players of our squad must feel now. Ole + Glazers killed all the passion and hope I had for this club this year

It's not a good thing in any circumstance. Should get a temporary manager till the summer if we have someone good lined up

I disagree. Decent managers would not accept the temporary role so we'd have to get someone in that will once again not be good enough, either way the season is a write off.
Then get a coach in who will coach the team. Lots of teams elect for head coaches these days as directors of football run the day to day club duties

Wait, so that Zidane tweet was a load of balls? :(

I was so giddy this morning when I saw it.

I disagree. Plenty of interim managers have had relative success.

We just need to get someone who is tactically astute.

The season will be much more salvageable with s New Temporary manager than with Ole.

Keep Ole for the season and the damage it will do will be massive

Who do you think is good enough that would be happy to come in for half a season?

You can’t expect people running a multi billion dollar company to have that kind of foresight

I'm not in Football so have no idea who would come. None of us do

We replaced Jose with Ole....

Replacing Ole should be a simple enough task considering he is not qualified in the first place.
Neither are our owners, they're even more clueless than the average fan which is why I think getting rid now for some temporary manager would end up even worse for us.

I think we will get beat by Villarreal. People will then realise that qualification is not in our hands and if Atalanta beat them, we are out regardless of our final group game result.

What you wrote sounds awfully like a strong indication that the board won’t sack him, even if he massively underperforms in the next few games, or goes out of the group stage. Because, as you pointed out, the beginning of 2 weeks was indeed the best time to sack him. Getting rid after that would put unnecessary pressure on the new guy.

You may laugh…but it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if we get dicked by Watford, the board sack OGS and we end up with Micky Shorts at the helm until May.

As a manager he is known as Pantaloon Mike.

Even if Vilarreal beat us we can go through with a win against Young Boys as a result for any of the other 2 or a draw in the group {Atalanta V Villaareal} will see us through with 10 points. So I think we will hold onto Ole until group stage finishes next month.

Worse than the Leicester, Liverpool and City performances? I'm not sure that's possible.

Ole himself came in as caretaker and the bounce that the squad got was instantaneous. And we all now know that pretty much none of that was down to in-depth coaching, it was just down to changing some basics and improving the atmosphere around the place. Those players must currently have little to no faith that their manager and coaching staff have what it takes - you bring in a guy who's been-there-done-that, maybe with a trusted right-hand man, and suddenly those players have a bit of hope and belief again. Players who have been sidelined are suddenly busting a gut cos they see that they have a chance again, and you have a motivated squad again. I mean, you even see it with relegation candidates from time to time - a new guy comes in halfway through the season, and whilst they are still pretty shit they just seem to have a bit more belief, and often end up avoiding the drop.

I see Hiddink retired in September - he's already done the caretaker thing successfully in the PL, if he's fully recovered from Covid I imagine he might be tempted? But that's literally off the top of my head, there must be a few out there that might fit the bill for a few months.

We might get a bounce yes, but how long will it last? What is important in this is who would actually take the job temporarily? Not heard any decent candidates yet. Rangnick maybe but would he really want a temp role?

My fear is these clowns would bring in someone totally unfit for the role and we end up 10th or some shit.

This is the bigger problem IMO. Ole might not be good enough, but I am sure as hell sure none of the coaches are good enough either. If Ole gets sacked, everyone in coaching set up needs to go.

I agree, 100%. If we are to have any chance of getting into top 4, It must start right now. A temporary manager would be the best idea if we cannot get who we really want until the summer.

Will be interesting to see if they release any pictures of the coaching staff back in training today. Surely they can't hide away forever hoping it all dies down

Oh yeah, I agree with all of that - I have no faith in the board either, am just daydreaming rather than working tbh. From a fan's perspective it's a horrible thought to imagine the rest of this season - given the squad we have - just turning into a tumescent procession to get to the end so we can reset for next year. The thought of mixing things up with a different guy - anybody at this point tbh - at least gives a chink of hope for this season, and promises a bit more drama and excitement.

The vibe around the club will go to complete shit if we stick with Ole.

We'd be risking multiple of out best players wanting to leave in the summer
