Give me a thousand year reich of Ole over either of these, please.
Rodgers would do alright, not ideal but a clear upgrade on Ole. Southgate would have us playing at the same level, the only difference being he's less likable and more negative. I will drive to Manchester and protest if he is appointed.

The most damning piece of the article:

ROgers 'won't demand the structural shift of Manchester United becoming a football focused enterprise once more '

There you have it. MUFC as a money making machine for the Glazers. Its not a football club. Why these things should be seen as diametrically opposed I dont know. We waste so much money but dont help idiots like Woodward accountable. We will sadly continue to be a joke. The Utd way would be to bring in a new broom like Fergusion and boot all the useless muppets out.

That is incredibly damning. Not just of the owners and board but Solksjaer. We already know the former bunch are solely interested in turning a profit. Ole is at the wheel because he willfully accepted this direction and priority and likely why it's taking extraordinary pressure to even consider sacking him on disastrous results and general form that has been gradually worsening from the end of his tenure as caretaker.

Cute PR spins but if they actually had a plan he would've been let go after Liverpool drummed us at home without breaking a sweat

Their reported ‘patience’ nonsense is transparently because they hope that it either gives them time to find someone while Ole most of the blame/public beating or that we limp to 4th with him

How can they 'try' to give him the opportunity? Either they are or they aren't.

Seriously? We are taken Liverpool rejects now?
We have had Chelsea and Everton so nothing new,

If you're backing him then make a public statement saying you're 100% behind him you cowards. How is Ole supposed to work when he knows the board are losing confidence and waiting for one more slip up before pulling the trigger?

They're hoping we limp to 4th and a lot of the noise coming out of the club keeps harping on about the 3rd and 2nd place finish, completely disregarding how markedly worse we've been this season.

It's purely as a result of us trying to play on the front foot, something Ole and his coaches have no idea how to do in practice. We've been badly exposed by moving away from counterattacking tactics. They can't do it and we should look for a manager and coaches who can make us play like a big club with the quality players that we have.

I have no problem with a manager demanding success and backing from the owners. The Glazers deserve to have their pants pulled down.

As for Conte, he comes into a ready made squad ready to challenge. He’s a proven commodity and I could care less if he flips two fingers to the glazers before he leaves. This fear of hiring someone difficult is just so odd. It’s far less stupid than holding out for Pep and Klopp to leave. Again I only wish our rivals had that limp mentality at our peak under Sir Alex, but they didn’t, they tried again and again to match us.

It's probably what the captain of the Titanic thought...we are sinking but if I just give it enough time may be the ship will magically rise and be buoyant again! Good grief.

Mark says a lot of stupid shit but he is 100% spot on with this.

Ole is close to unsacakable. He will have to impossibly bad to be sacked.

Not acting now will ruin our season and future seasons because the players won't be happy we just wrote off another season.

They will want out.

It's madness what we are doing

And the funny/depressing thing is that it's Ole who is unstoppable. Not SAF, not Pep, heck not even Klopp but an average manager that only we alone believe is genuinely good.

Realistically, Cavani, Matic, Mata and Ronaldo won't be with us long anyway. Pogba and Lingard are leaving, question marks over DVB, Bailly and Martial having not played much. We're going to need replacements, top 4 or no top 4.

Shows you the biggest myth of Ole's apparent rebuild, it's not a rebuild if you need to rebuild after 3 years.

No replacements in of decently quality and we're hardly a top 6 team.

Extremely worrying for our future.

why would the owners be all that worried about fans? The whole super league BS is pretty much blown over. They prob just assume with ole being a club legend as a player things will prob just blow over again until end of season.

Yep , sounds exactly like our beloved club. “Trying to give Ole the opportunity to improve” reminds me of the times we were “considering to monitor bids for players” in every transfer window. Whatever the feck it means, I’ve given up trying to comprehend how our club is run.

Writing this season off could do irreversible damage to the club for the seasons ahead.

The board need to just come out and say they’re backing him. Pointless leaving it ambiguous when it’s obvious they’ve no thought of giving him the boot.

It's emotional blackmail by appointing Ole. The only fans they really care about, members of the fan groups and match going fans wouldn't dare demand his sacking, and so it won't happen - the Glazers know this. The same fans were happy to turn on Jose, are happy to slate Pogba and Fred week in, week out..

We're sinking into obscurity and a wasted season. Very frustrating.

If the plan is that schmuck Rodgers then I don't really care about when they sack Ole, it's just a continuous circle of shite.

I feel like the club never expected this, and were shocked and caught unaware despite the signs being quite obvious. In my opinion I still think they're coming up with a plan, I think there's probably a bit of a power struggle going on now based on reports. Some saying keep Ole till we replace him in the summer and some saying get rid now to salvage the season.

Woodward is definitely a major factor, not wanting to look like an idiot by sacking a manager he just gave a 3 year contract to and passing on Conte when he was available only to sack Ole a week later would just show how incompetent he is. Fletcher also being a fan of Rodgers and Poch is probably another factor in waiting till the summer.

I think, unfortunately for us they are still of the opinion that keeping Ole to the end of the season is better than sacking him and getting in a caretaker replacement, I think the names that are available in terms of managers right now aren't significantly better than Ole in their opinion to make it worth spending the 30 mill or whatever to sack him.

Really, would have thought he will be first out the door in Jan if Ole is still here

Absolutely. Probably our biggest cause of concern right now. We're on a knife edge.

I still think he’s gone by the end of the week, or maybe it’s just wishful thinking

Don’t do it to yourself mate, if he was going he’d be gone by now. Unfortunately he’s here to stay for the time being, unless of course we lose to Watford but I think it’s more likely he’ll go after we suffer yet another embarrassing defeat this time at the hands of Chelsea.

I’m there as well.
The fact that we have no official backing by the board, or no briefings to the major journalists that he’s safe, just the odd one’s opinions, together with the long, weirdly placed holiday, makes the hope live a while longer.

Villarreal game is 2 days after Watford. You're telling me it wouldn't be 'on to the next one'?

He's not getting sacked this season fullstop.

Sad thing is, Ole is not average, he is way below average, not even close to matching seasoned professionals like Dean Smith and the likes. That’s who is average, not Ole. Luckily, not many believe he’s good anymore, but you who did will have lost all credibility when rating a new manager after a while.

Out of curiosity how much worse can it realistically get? Of course our results are going to improve, that doesn't mean that Ole is learning or getting better. We shouldn't be basing our manager's success off of Watford away. It's a pathetic stance. They have no standards whatsoever.

If we get top 4 I guarantee you he stays on. We will lose 4 or 5 players who will force moves away when this happens and we will ruin the careers of young stars like Sancho in the meantime. The board is more interested in looking smart than fixing a mistake and they will keep this stance forever

The worst thing will be we will beat Watford and he will be there 'we turned a corner' I am absolutely sick of this rinse and repeat crap we see under Ole.

Time to write off the season. From here on, I am hoping we lose until he's sacked. Him winning helps only the Glazers and their wallet. feck em all.

Then it' defeat to Villarreal and Chelsea within a week. The board will point to the Watford win as a sign of progress.

We're basically letting down our players and wasting a year of theirs, in particular Ronaldo, an ace up the sleeve, who we're actually going to pick Ole over.

If you're going to keep one from the two for a season, it's an absolute no-brainer. You can say what you want about any other regime since Fergie left, but this absolutely the worst I've seen the club 'in all my life'. We are an absolute shambles, and I think there'll be a lot of disgruntled players chewing the ear off their agents to get them out of here.

We have a world class squad who we're going to waste. This is absolutely not the season to be in a meagre top 4 'race'.

Cavani, Pogba, Lingard, Telles, VDB, Martial are gone in the summer. Ronaldo will not be here if we are in the Europa League next season. We cannot win the CL next season if we aren't in it.

Goldbridge has changed his tune. I think just yesterday he was saying there’s no need to protest because the club was trying to tie down a replacement for Solskjaer.

A complete spoofer, and a twat on top of it.
