This keeps being mentioned a lot, but how exactly? We spent absolute fortunes under him, in what way is he easy going for the owners?

People are claiming our owners only care about money. If that's the case, why would they be happy with a guy that needs a ton of investment for not so great results?

Under SAF they had a great manager who didn't get anywhere near the investment - so why not go for a top quality manager? It doesn't make sense.

Its a bit rich from the club saying the man they want is not available. Well, there are rumours Poch is first choice and the board like him, he was available for a year and we didnt get him. Tuchel was available, Klopp was available, Conte too

When managers are available, they don't act, then they come out with no one one available

They are playing the fans and us fans need to see through that crap.

Exactly.

We can easily get someone like Favre for example as Interim/Caretaker till the summer, to steady the ship a bit. And then target Ten Hag/Pochetino whoever. Surely Favre is a better manager and coach than Ole at the moment.

The problem is, rational decisions like that will be taken by football people. None of our board has any football people. When you have the likes of Woodward, Arnold and Joel Glazers calling the footballing shots, you realise why we are still coached by Ole, have passed on Conte, and are targetting Brendan Rodgers and Pochettino.

Yh I wasn't expecting him to bring in only 20 year olds but this is maybe a better representation of why it's so disappointing. Average age first team signings:

19/20: Maguire, Bruno, AWB, James, Ighalo = 24.6
20/21: Cavani, VdB, Telles = 27.6
21/22: Ronaldo, Varane, Sancho = 28.3

That makes even worse reading when you factor in VdB and Sancho don't play and those averages leap up.
Sign of a bad hands on coach is that their younger players struggle & they become more and more reliant on big names.

I think it's just reaching the conclusion they want to.

We signed young players and then made signings who were available for cheap to add to squad.

Also the player who is keeping Sancho out of the team is a player who is younger than him.

Damn you, you don't know how close i came to spilling my coffee all over the laptop.

For what it's worth, i think that there's only one person that's keeping him in the job, and that person's surname isn't Glazer. I also think that the main reason Woodward retains a hands-off approach in this one is because the Mourinho fiasco had his name written all over it. Joel does what every billionaire, who's not an expert and only cares to make money, would do: He consults a right-hand man of the family and someone who's considered one of the best in the field.

The saddest thing is that our main rivals drop points too, they don't look unbeatable (unless they're playing us, of course). City often struggle to move up gears when they have to, and Liverpool have slipped on all potential banana peels thus far (except OT). There's a 15/16 feel to it, when we could have even won the league, if we had been more decisive.

I sort of agree. I am tired of hearing that the Glazers are happy with Ole. They are not. Sure getting top 4 will probably mean that the manager won't get sacked. However that's probably because the benefits they achieved from top 4 would probably go straight in paying the manager off. Irrespective of that, no one spends 415m on transfers on to be thrilled with a trophyless season, a top 4 position and fans calling up the owners because 'they set the manager to fail by not getting him Sancho or a DM'. United's business model rely heavily on good PR and they also know that the only way to close our gob is to bring United back to glory.

Well Ole's sacking will look bad on Woodward's CV (4 managers sacked since SAF retired) which in turn is a problem for Woody who seem to be negotiating a way back to United by becoming a consultant. However for this incompetent board Ole is pretty comfortable to have around. He never complains, he never make the board look bad, his matey to half the pundits in the UK and fans are eager to celebrate his 'achievements' while forgiving his many many many blips.

Does it look like DVB and Sancho will play any role in us reaching top 4 or not? If I was a money pinching dickhead like the Glazers, I surely wouldn't be very happy about needlessly spending 100m - and would consider the person rendering my investment pointless quite uneasy.
If they knew football then maybe they would figure out our manager is crap and unlikely to play these technical players but they have no clue which is the problem to begin with. The people in charge have no scooby how to make football decisions.

Totally on board with that statement. Just disagreed with the notion Ole was easy or comfortable for them if he needs so much investment to achieve so little.

Couldn't have said it better myself, it's a joke and they're blatantly insulting everyone's intelligence

Yet everyone is like oh no one is available, who can we get that is better.

The best teams don't give a crap about that, they sack him then get someone. People talk about waiting till the end of the season, that only works if we can agree that in Jan.

Otherwise, theyll sack him at the end, take 2 months finding someone, who will take 2/3 weeks finding about the squad, then we wont sign anyone because the new manager wants to give everyone a chance.

There is always another excuse, and another. We should not fall for this. This is the United job, one of the most prestigious jobs around, one of the best squads around.

I keep seing why managers wouldn't want the United job but, everyone says this about Chelsea, will they get another top manager knowing how ruthless Roman is? Yes, and they keep winning.

Every top manager would want United because:
1. A big club
2. A very good playing squad
3. They give managers time - relatively compared to others
4. Managers get money to spend
5. Attraction of top players

Simple as that really. I don't buy this no one available nonsense.

There are alot of coaches better than Ole, even young boys are better coached than we are.

That is the single biggest problem at this club, there is no footballing intelligence at board level.

My take is that no one wants to come here.

Yeah it's very odd. The Glazers must have some business acumen to be as wealthy as they are presumably. They may be happy with just top four, but not the level of wasted investment.
The 'they don't understand football' argument doesn't wash to the extent they won't realise over £100m has been pissed away on benchwarmers.

My take is that no one wants to come here.

I don't buy that. We have seen top managers hired by PL clubs. Carlo to Everton, Conte to Spurs, Hassnhutl to Southampton.

The club are trying to push the agenda to make it seem like that when the reality is this job is very luring.

Totally on board with that statement. Just disagreed with the notion Ole was easy or comfortable for them if he needs so much investment to achieve so little.
For all we know they think Ole is a risk taking maverick. They're fecking morons!

I'd take Rodgers if he came now but surely if we are going to punt away the season under Ole there are better candidates at the end of the season.

This shitty board, ex players, bankers, whoever are more interested in looking smart than they are in making an easy choice. They're all pathetic

This is what we're led to believe.. Think for a moment, a club with Ronaldo, Bruno, Pogba, Rashford, Greenwood, Varane, DDG .. there's surely a lot of managers who would happily switch clubs to manage us.

Even Villa will manage to get Gerard from Rangers mid season.
Conte was willing to until it was made known they had no interest in him.

My take is that no one wants to come here.

High pay, high prestige, low requirements in terms of results, lots of money to spend. The board and the press are negatives but the United job is hardly a poisoned chalice. Ole got a fecking extension and he had/will won/win feck all. Also Conte was reportedly interested.

The most damning piece of the article:

ROgers 'won't demand the structural shift of Manchester United becoming a football focused enterprise once more '

There you have it. MUFC as a money making machine for the Glazers. Its not a football club. Why these things should be seen as diametrically opposed I dont know. We waste so much money but dont help idiots like Woodward accountable. We will sadly continue to be a joke. The Utd way would be to bring in a new broom like Fergusion and boot all the useless muppets out.

Seriously? We are taken Liverpool rejects now?

Not sure about 'cheap'!
Good point on Greenwood keeping Sancho out (as much as I disagree with him doing so) but then he also picks Matic over VdB at every opportunity so there's a definite trend to rely on old players.

It’s Marca so highly likely it’s bollocks. The more worrying thing for me is not the fact we’re eying up Rodgers but the fact we’re sticking with fecking Solskjaer for the time being. We’d be better off just forfeiting the next few games as we’re basically just flushing points down the toilet anyway keeping him at the helm.

Sure, but they probably all suck. Competent managers look at this club and the managers we've buried in the last 7 years and say, "nah, my career is more important."

I think there is some kind of rot in the set up. People close to the game must see this and don't want any part of it.

But do they? They've inherited Avram's ventures and supposedly only Joel takes an interest in this one. His actions - and seemingly blind faith in Woodward - do not scream that he could come in and settle things down with a hands on approach even if he wanted to.

Have they [Glazers] expanded or improved on anything they've had gifted to them? Genuine question as I have no idea.

How he handled de beek is very poor. Not sure what was the point of wasting 35 million on the player who barely starts.

Also McT and de beek are around same age, one plays every game. So its not just age. It's weird tbh, the way de beek is treated.

Yeah I was wondering if it was inherited from Malcolm? I've always taken little interest in the family structure.

Maybe I'm assuming too much that they'd give more of a shit about a prime asset or understand Woodward's shortcomings.
The commercial side ostensibly appeared to improve around the time of the Glazers, with all the tyre partners etc...but the mushrooming Sky TV deal must've accounted for a lot of that.

Don't think so, any quality manager at 2nd tier club probably looks at us and thinks he could get us challenging for trophies within 6 months. We have a ridiculous squad atm. That's without even mentioning the prestige and the money that comes with the job.

If they were looking for someone to make the step up, wouldn't Potter be a better candidate? Also, the chances of him having a portrait of himself in his living room is much lower.
