Is Ole a good appointment?

There's so many things to say about Solskjaer that I'll sum it up with two words: Thank you.

Let's hope so.

Someone who can pass and play with Matic and in his position would be good. Think we need five - a CB, a DM/CM, LB, RB & a versatile attacker.
Agreed. The football is exactly the correct football we want to play. It's just personell in few key areas .
If the board give Ole the signings we can compete with anyone.

Today: Spurs 0:1 United - 8 shots on target (13 total)

2018/19
Chelsea 2:2 United - 4 shots on target (7 total)
City 3:1 United - 1 shot on target (6 total)
Liverpool 3:1 United - 2 shots on target (6 total)

2017/18
Liverpool 0:0 United - 1 shot on target (6 total)
Chelsea 1:0 United - 2 shots on target (10 total)
Arsenal 1:3 United - 4 shots on target (8 total)
Spurs 2:0 United - 3 shots on target (6 total)
City 2:3 United - 4 shots on target (5 total)

2016/17
Liverpool 0:0 United - 1 shot on target (7 total)
Chelsea 4:0 United - 5 shots on target (16 total)
City 0:0 United - 1 shot on target (3 total)
Arsenal 2:0 United - 4 shots on target (10 total)
Spurs 2:1 United - 2 shots on target (8 total)

2015/16
Chelsea 1:1 United - 7 shots on target (17 total)
City 0:1 United - 4 shots on target (5 total)
Spurs 3:0 United - 1 shot on target (5 total)

So looks like this was the closest back on the 7th Feb 2016.

Still many aspects of our forward play to improve but that's a great stat. Optimistic again!

It was just Spurs. Still can't forget that he flopped at Cardiff.
Forget about Cardiff.

Most likely it didn’t work because OGS was not used to working with carthorses. A bit like a top jockey riding in a donkey derby .....he’s not likely to win.

Still just another Craig Shakespeare right now.

Second half was poor, like England's vs Croatia. Lots to improve.
Or like many halves under SAF away to a good side...
Enjoy it ffs, if you can’t find happiness in what has happened since Ole’s appointment then I don’t know what to tell you.
Win or lose we’re United again! That’s more important than everything else.

A performance that would've been called a Mourinho Masterclass. Lots to improve but came with specific tactics and got the job done.
Mourinho wouldn't have given attackers license to interchange like we did in the 1st half. We didn't park the bus at all. 2nd half we faded but still had couple of chances arriving to the box with Pogba.

By far the best fun any of us have had watching this club since Fergie retired but he is 'Still just another Craig Shakespeare' ?

Nonsense.

A good win today but it was only Spurs who we should be beating anyway, still yet to play any of the big sides ;).

Fully agree. The old spirit has returned, along with the belief that we can get results in big games. Ole is a lovely guy who gets the United philosophy of good football combined with results.

I really hope this continues and he convinces the board he is the right man for the job going forward.

Happy days just now.

Kudos to Ole for dropping Fellaini, Lukaku, and to a certain extent Mata (great player but not suited to fast counter attacks and pressing football). Its been so obvious to even us amateurs why we were so mediocre.

His interviews are pretty reminiscent of SAF. I wonder if that's conscious or if Fergie just rubbed off on him that much.

 At the people too scared to enjoy this win in case it means their beloved Pochettino won't get the job.

We have the right man in place right now to be our next manager, if he manages to feck it up over the next 6 months Pochettino will be the next man in. Stop worrying and just enjoy the ride will you?

If the club can get Pochettino that's who they'll settle for. If not then why not.

I actually enjoy following the club now. The losses will come, but we'll go down swinging, no more egotistical whimpering post-match about "respect" for past managerial accolades after parking the bus for 70 minutes against minnows.

Ole is United and has given the club some of its lost identity back. This is a special club. This means something.

If we're replacing Ole in the summer it better be someone more inspiring than an Argentinian who did better than expected with So'ton and Spurs. Poaching Poch would be something a club not half of United's stature or the Plastics would do.

For the 1st time in 5 years I can honestly say that I dont know where our next defeat is coming from!!

When will it not be "its only?"

If we beat arsenal? If we beat PSG? Have we literally got to beat everyone before people start giving the guy some credit. This is so much more than "just enjoy yourselves".

If we beat Arsenal and win the other games that are "its only" teams (that we've regularly dropped points to in the last 5 years) , we could host PSG with 11 bloody wins in a row!

First time I have enjoyed watching us in years. Yes we had a period of the start of last season under Mourinho where we won 4-0's and that but this seems different. Different type of attacking and always look to be on the front foot and not just sitting back

Long may it continue, still not on the "Give Ole the job" bandwagon yet but If he keeps this up for the next couple of months and gets us Champions League then it will be hard not to appoint him

I like how for the last half an hour or so I was actually nervous and looking forward to winning. When Jose was here, in games like this I'd either be thinking "Oh we might win, cool", or "We're going to end up conceding and losing and I'm not even that bothered". It was nice to watch a game like this and be worried and/or pleased about the outcome.

I'm almost sold on the idea of giving him the job now. We're playing better than we did in years, and i'd love to see what Ole can do with some good signings.

What's the worst that could happen? We've been through a lot already and I think we could afford giving him another year.

Why, in what possible universe would you want to give him the job now?

He's not going anywhere, it's not like we're going to lose out on him by waiting the full 6 months. If he deserves the job after 6 months it will be very fecking apparent.

I think if he continues good form he should get the job.

Poch would be more like Mourinho relying on Lukaku all the time IMO, than this fluid attacking Ole team using Rashford and Martial.

I think Zidane is a risk and wouldn't sign hin either if Ole keeps doing well.

The club would be as well to just start looking at signings.

The more important signing is surely the DoF. The whole point of that position is to take some of the pressure out of the decision on the manager. Whether we stick with Ole or get Pochettino or someone else, a DoF would guarantee a plan and a direction which would outlast any unsuccessful managerial appointment.

The only benefit would be to allow him more influence (ie more than zero) in this transfer window.

That said, less than a month in I not sure he'd know what he would be after right now. I doubt utd and molde were really focused on the same players.

Today’s squad signals a clear out this month...Fellaini, Sanchez, Darmian, Rojo all to go

Give it Ole,in all honesty he IS the outstanding choice based on philosophy, tactics, knows the club ethos inside out and he is a winner and not overawed by the club, not sure we could say the last 2 things about Poch.
