Is Ole a good appointment?

Right. I will put my neck on the line and say that i want OGS as our next permenant manager.

It isn't just a reaction to 6 wins on the spin it is so much more than that. It is the was he conducts himself, his man management. The way he sets us up, the way he speaks. He is exactly what we need. He just gets the club, the fanbase and the culture.

One thing I find strange is that we have had 2 of the most decorated and celebrated managers of all time yet a big part of this improvement has been common sense.

How could Van Gaal and Mourinho not figure out that happy players playing in the right positions and in a system that suits them will offer better results than a team of square pegs in round holes who are terrified to misplace a pass?

yeah I'm not disagreeing that Lukaku didn't do what we needed - I wouldn't blame Ole for that, though

Your right, and probably in the wrong thread. I’m sure he will be furious with Lukuku. We were lucky to get away with it, should have brought on a midfielder for Martial. Total lack of application from Lukuku will disappoint OGS, given he knows what it’s like to be a sub.

Was very interesting the interviews with Ole, and another with Pogba. Both talked about how they set up to hurt spurs, which we did well in the first half.

Pogba went into specifics about how it was no accident we scored from the right. Basically he said Spurs would know our strength on the left, so the plan was to congest the middle and release it on the right. Ole just commented on how the plan was great for the first half, but the adjustments they made caught us out.

Oh god I remember Van Gaal's first few games well. After so much excitement heading into that season we couldn't buy a win culminating in the 4-0 loss to MK Dons.

That 4-0 MK Dons day was probably in my top 2 worst days as a United fan. The entire world was laying into us for it too, which we deserves

think it's a combination of old age / stubbornness that says I will change you into the player I want in the position I think you can play vs someone who to be fair has nothing to lose and is doing the complete opposite and making players happy. Don't get me wrong, there's a heck of a lot he's doing behind the scenes that we don't see and Ole is not just a "keep players happy coach" but I think perhaps Jose came in an had to put his stamp on the squad which you have to do at £10m a year. Ole doesn't have to do that so instead goes the route that makes player feel loved - with good tactics etc too of course.

I have to wonder now how far we can extend this winning run. We have Arsenal in the cup and Leicester but both are winnable, if we can get to the PSG game with 10 wins in a row the players will feel unbeatable.

He has entered into my top five. Pochettino is still number one. But Ole has me thinking that might be a more fitting choice than my other favorite in Zidane, Marco Rose and Erik ten Hag at the moment

For all that Pochettino is, doesn't really impress me. Never won a trophy, and if I'm not mistaken, lost 6 games already this season in the league. Keep Ole, guy has been a beast so far!

No need to take a decision now. He needs to show he can consistently develop tactics to beat the big sides. But tbf so far his record on that front is 100%. In 6 weeks we'll have played Spurs, Arsenal, PSG and Liverpool. Let's see how we come through that.

Give him a couple of top defenders and see where he takes us. He deserves a chance to prove he can be our permenant manager.

5 consecutive wins and we're still 6th! Mourinho I hate .

Seriously I was impressed with Ole today. This team look like a team, not a group of individuals. This guy deserves this job, no doubt about it; we don't need Poch or Zidane.

Really liked how he handled the post match interview, very quick on his feet.

He says all the right things, never missing a chance to talk up the club or our players. A real breath of fresh air.

I think PSG is a lost cause with this defense. Ole can't work miracles, it will be all we can do to restrict the number of goals we will lose by.

Think I saw somewhere that on 22nd December we were 12 points behind Arsenal and now we're level. Says it all.

On Ole, I felt we massively jumped the gun last year giving Mourinho a new contract. Let's wait till the end of the season and see what everything is like.

Completely disagree. Dalot could have covered down the left like he did on the right later on. We needed energy and pressing from Lukuku, he gave us none of that, he had absoubtly no impact, which is what you need from a sub when under pressure.
It annoyed the shite out of me watching Lukaku jogging back after having been on for 5 minutes and we're holding on by a thread.

Honestly the board should give him funds to spend on improving the defense this window and see what happens with a more solid backline and this playing style.

Ole's passed all the tests in front of him with flying colors so far,he's earned the right to show what he can do in the transfer market in my opinion

We had eight shots on target against Spurs. When was the last time we did that against a top4 rival away? For all the tlak about De Gea saves let's not forget that they did absolutely nothing in the first half.

Not a single shot on target.

Any good home team who is 0-1 down at half time is going to attack in the second half. If spurs score, Utd would likely get back on the front foot.

Yeah, I'm not expecting wins. If we're competitive, then he's delivered a massive improvement.

Sadly, I have to agree with this. Our biggest problem is Matic; a good DM could cover for our defensive flaws, Matic offers nothing in that area, a complete liability and the reason our defenders are always on back foot.

And who's that manager who consistently beat big teams? Even Pep Barca couldn't manage it. Ole has convinced me that he deserved the job full time.

The feck? A dopey loss in the league cup was one of your worst days as a United fan?!

We need to see what happens when we go behind or lose a game. What manner do we respond?

I want Ole as much as the next person but everything is great at the moment, we need to see what Ole looks like when things aren't great.

Give him the job.

Poch always bottle it in the big games, every single season. Why do we even want him? Let's not become Arsenal and become content with top 4

Just give him the job now and invest in the defence this window. The guy can't win, he wins his first five, people say we've played nobody, we beat Spurs and people want to see how he reacts to a defeat!!

Why are we disrespecting the guy so much, he's passed his interview stage with flying colours. He's got the fans back on side, he's getting the best out of our attacking players and he's even getting a tune out of our average defence.

No one will come in and know the club like Ole does, United is in his DNA.

He gets the United. He learnt a lot from the boss.

So, it would not be so wrong to think his team would response how united would.

If things are going great for a long period of time, he must be doing things right.

I certainly don't want to wait for when things goes wrong while I can enjoy things being right for a long time.

Players seem to like him too. Bar any serious nosedives between now and the end of the season, we’d be utterly stupid to replace him. Let’s just not start filing out lengthy contracts.

We are seriously weak in the air at the back without Smalling. So, it was a bit easy to see why we kind of struggled with all the crossing and long balls in this match where they have quality forwards. It is not exactly easy for him to fix it with what he does not have unless we put the tree man as back 5.

The only thing that made me wondered with this game is Ole not doing much to stop Eriksen in the 2nd half once he started pulling a lot of strings.

Anyway, we have to be fair on Ole. He is working out a lot along the way and we can only judge him at the end of season as a whole. He didn't have his pre season, his playing plan with his type of players, time to train his way etc. We can't really expect him to hit the ground running perfectly against top teams in the table at this point.

So far, everything is positive and much better than what we could have hoped for.

Eriksen dropped so deep that marking him would have been next to impossible without pushing the whole team forward. Its pretty clear that Poch won the second half in terms of the tactical battle. Lukaku on for Martial was a waste of a sub as he did feck all. Imo, Fred and Mata would have been more sensible as could have gotten an extra pair of legs in MF with Fred and someone with a cool head to keep the ball in the team with Mata

If we can't land Pochettino then absolutely why not give it to Olé? Anyone else would be as much a risk, if not bigger.

Obviously this is on the basis we continue with the impressive performances until the end of the season.

Give it to him. I don't want anyone else. This just feels right. First time in 6 years it has felt like the club is managed by someone who is there out of love for the club and football rather than to do a job. I want him in charge at least for the next couple of years even if it means that we don't win a trophy in that period. I want to enjoy football again. And these 6 games are the most fun I have had in 6 years.
