Is Ole a good appointment?

beanyman should have a better version soon

Love Ole's face when the interviewer mentions putting smiles on faces. A perfect encapsulation of a 'FFS' expression, and the tactics questions :wenger:. It's as if the interviewer is surprised he uses tactics and doesn't just walk into training, beam at them for a bit and wander out again. Maybe people will stop underestimating him now and treating him like he's a cheerleader and not a manager?

Give it to Ole, it’s Poch (never won anything) who’s the risk.

Also, not having to give £40 million to Levi is also an added bonus.

First half was great, second half was a throwback to Mourinho. Wonder if there's still a hangover from his regime though?

If we can't land Pochettino then absolutely why not give it to Olé? Anyone else would be as much a risk, if not bigger.

Obviously this is on the basis we continue with the impressive performances until the end of the season.

I am not even sure I want Pochettino - this is their 4th home defeat of the season, and they have actually managed to lose more games than us, despite being such a "wonderful" side. It's worth noticing that we have scored 2 goals less than Spurs, with us having Mourinho as manager for 17 games.

He's so much more suited to us than any of the other dour managers we hired. He gets what it means to manage United. He actually talks enthusiastically about our players and he talks about attacking and getting the best out of what we have. None of this shit about stopping the opposition, or aspiring to be like anyone else. It's a breath of fresh air after years of misery.

Eriksen dropped so deep that marking him would have been next to impossible without pushing the whole team forward. Its pretty clear that Poch won the second half in terms of the tactical battle. Lukaku on for Martial was a waste of a sub as he did feck all. Imo, Fred and Mata would have been more sensible as could have gotten an extra pair of legs in MF with Fred and someone with a cool head to keep the ball in the team with Mata

In an ideal world Fred would have replaced Pogba at around the 65th minute mark when the Frenchman started looking tired. However, Fred so far has not shown anything to suggest that he can deal with the pace and intensity of such a game. Neither has he shown any quickness of thought that would make you believe that he can be a useful sub in tough game situations.

I think we need a Cb who can play on the left and another midfielder in this window to be able to finish the season on a high. None of our 4 CB's (Not counting Rojo as he is useless) are comfortable playing as LCB's & our midfielders outside the top 3 are either poor or young ot both.

I like the look of Poch being United manager. But, I feel he lacks something extra bit to become a winner at United at this moment. Like some kind of ability to win tough matches or in matches like today. You could call it 'luck'.

For some reason, I think Ole has that extra bit with him. And, I would put both managers in same category as the right fit for United in areas like playing attacking football, giving youth chances and improving players.

Pochettino is hugely over achieving at Spurs in my opinion.

100% the right choice for us.

It was just Spurs. Still can't forget that he flopped at Cardiff.

I'm sick of people referring to Cardiff. He was a hiding to nothing with Cardiff, the bigger mistake was accepting the role at a club certain of relegation.

Certain coaches are more suited to coaching better footballers, maybe he couldn't get a tune out of the Cardiff players because they just didn't have the ability to play his system.

WTF is that?

Talking about what we had available today. I dont know about Fred yet, right now he seems like a dud but i doubt he could be worse sub than Lukaku was. Mata is slow as feck yes, but hes one of our best players in small spaces and usually manages to keep a cool head in intense games like this was.

That being said though, i agree on the bolded part. Our first XI is pretty strong, but the replacements are sub par and then some. Fellaini has his uses, but McTominay is just not good enough at this level and Fred looks out of his depth.

A performance that would've been called a Mourinho Masterclass. Lots to improve but came with specific tactics and got the job done.

Got it spot on tactically today having Rashford/Martial play as inside forwards.

Slowly but surely coming round to the idea of him getting the job.

Pochettino is still who I want, but it actually feels like we are Man United at the moment.

Mentality wise in the second half, yeah but first half was totally different. Also lingard playing false 9andRashford and Martial drifting out wide to exploit space on the sides would be never seen under Jose.

Fred will come good. He needs a bit more time like Lindelof before him. We need CB, RB, RW to really become serious team . In midfield we need mobile DM replacement for Matic but not as urgent as other three. Which I don't think all will be sorted this window but it's not far off from becoming really good team.

Let's hope so.

Someone who can pass and play with Matic and in his position would be good. Think we need five - a CB, a DM/CM, LB, RB & a versatile attacker.

He never got us looking like we looked in the first half today

At this moment, I'm struggling to think about any other manager who I'd really want in. Unless things really go tits up by the end of the season for some reason, no matter who we'd bring in as a permanent manager, it would still sting and leave a bittersweet taste.

In a fantasy world, I'd love to see Ole get the job and have a Fergie-like era.

Man I really don't want this Ole high to come down, send him a contract on the way back to Manhester

We had eight shots on target against Spurs. When was the last time we did that against a top4 rival away? For all the tlak about De Gea saves let's not forget that they did absolutely nothing in the first half.

Today: Spurs 0:1 United - 8 shots on target (13 total)

2018/19
Chelsea 2:2 United - 4 shots on target (7 total)
City 3:1 United - 1 shot on target (6 total)
Liverpool 3:1 United - 2 shots on target (6 total)

2017/18
Liverpool 0:0 United - 1 shot on target (6 total)
Chelsea 1:0 United - 2 shots on target (10 total)
Arsenal 1:3 United - 4 shots on target (8 total)
Spurs 2:0 United - 3 shots on target (6 total)
City 2:3 United - 4 shots on target (5 total)

2016/17
Liverpool 0:0 United - 1 shot on target (7 total)
Chelsea 4:0 United - 5 shots on target (16 total)
City 0:0 United - 1 shot on target (3 total)
Arsenal 2:0 United - 4 shots on target (10 total)
Spurs 2:1 United - 2 shots on target (8 total)

2015/16
Chelsea 1:1 United - 7 shots on target (17 total)
City 0:1 United - 4 shots on target (5 total)
Spurs 3:0 United - 1 shot on target (5 total)

So looks like this was the closest back on the 7th Feb 2016.

Still just another Craig Shakespeare right now.

Second half was poor, like England's vs Croatia. Lots to improve.

Erik ten Hag, really? He's not up the standard. He's managing the most talented group Ajax had in 10 years, of course he's getting decent results. Couple of months ago Ajax fans wanted him out.

Yes, I m a fan of his footballing aesthetic and bringing total football 2.0 to United will benefit our football almost similar to the way Guardiola has done to City. With the ten Haag way, we will be beating teams often with five or more goals ala City.

Top 5?!
It's surely a straight top 2 v Poch.
And the way it's going, Ole's incredible start, and a mix of Poch having doubts in the big games, and taking a hell of a lot of money, surely makes Ole the favourite.

Yea, i m not jumping to conclusions yet. Spurs was the dominant side today with Ole first real test. I need to see that Ole can consistently keep these players motivated and also has an eye to know where our weakness lies. Pochettino has done this for three season, so Ole has a way to go for me to be considered first choice over Pochettino. It was easy to motivate these players after Mourinho but let see what happens later on in the season.

For all that Pochettino is, doesn't really impress me. Never won a trophy, and if I'm not mistaken, lost 6 games already this season in the league. Keep Ole, guy has been a beast so far!

Pochettino has impressed the most in the way he has developed Spurs over the last few season from an Europa league team to title winning contenders/ champions league team. His man management is unrivaled and he knows how to get the best out of mediocre players and check the ego of his top performers. It is like a manager coming to Everton right now and transform them into a champion league team with little hardship along the way. In this league, that feet seems almost impossible.
