Ole Gunnar Solskjær | Managerial Watch

Ole is about to make his first public appearance since the sacking at a "Evening with" event at the Mercure Hotel in Manchester. Friday, May 12th. The promo text seems a little over the top, but this is how they choose to present him. I think I might actually attend this event and get a "platinum package". Seems like good value for a experience

Yeah that platinum package does seem like a good deal. Especially with the signed shirt thrown in. Prices seem to be going through the roof for this type of memorabilla lately. Do you know how many are attending?

Apparently he's linked to the Club Brugge job.

I don't follow Belgian football so I have no idea if he's a good fit.

Speaks volumes he hasn’t been remotely linked to a premier league job since.

I won’t argue our managers before him were anything but failures either but the gulf in quality from actual football managers in Moyes Mourinho and Van Gaal to Ole is just staggering

Lampard just got reappointed, hopes springs eternal!

It speaks volumes to the hit pieces and piling on he suffered from.

He was, he turned them all down

clubs don’t care about petty gossip. If he was anywhere decent he would have got the job.
Meanwhile Lampard is on his third job and Jesse March is the favourite to take over Leicester.
The man who at least has a great record in progressing through cup competitions and is one of the few managers to achieve consecutive top 4 finishes has been memed into the wilderness as a PE teacher.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about Ole, and everybody's made that perfectly clear, it seems a little ridiculous to suggest that any manager who has a 2nd place PL finish with any club couldn't get another job in the PL. Its more likely that he simply hasn't wanted one.

And got us into a European cup final.

I doubt he willingly will go for a club Brugge job over a premier league one.

And yes actual staff and experts don’t fixate on stats like “finished 2nd”. They look at the context and I think it’s pretty obvious no premier league club sees him as a viable option

People are mocking themselves when they're saying Ole can get a PL job. Brugge is the best he could get.

No PL club will be interested in him, because his experience with United proved he's not good enough for top clubs and his strategy of over reliance on individual abilities doesn't suit relegation threatened clubs, which will be looking at his past experience with Cardiff. He's at a position where he failed to achieve the targets of both a top club and relegation fodders. He's also not English, which does help for Lampard case.

He should take that Brugge job, that's if he wants to continue managing football.

because both Marsch and Lampard are better managers than Ole.

FYI Lampard has been memed as well his recent appointment is a very ole like scenario

That’s a lie and a half right there.

And got us into a European cup final.

That's a nice way to say "got us into a 2nd tier European competition final after crushing out from the group stage of the top European competition".

Relegation fodders and midtable clubs won't care about such thing.

Or he could bring out the individual qualities in players?
Why wouldn’t he stand out with a squad like Chelsea if that’s the case? Would West Ham be where they are with Ole in charge with their individual quality?
Im not saying he’s a great manager but feck me it’s not as if the league is full of these managers playing progressive, team football. 12 managers haven’t been sacked because they’re too good for the job

You would know, with your Insights and everything :)

Dont mind the Norwegian news, with reliable sources saying the contrary. You know best

You don't know what they look at. And the sooner fans stop pretending as if they know what the criteria is, the better

When did that happen ? His entire team was built around Bruno whom he bought and directly installed into the team. He didn't improve and of the existing players, and most of his other players he bought failed.

There's no reason a big club will think of him because considering the amount of spending and investment he did at United, he didn't win anything and didn't challenge for any major trophy. He's not English, not an ex legend at any top club to give him some slack like at United and he's 50 years old who has been managing for 10 years so he's not exactly a young and incoming manager to give him a chance.

Most relegation fodders or mid clubs don't really care about "reaching 2nd tier European competition final and finishing distant 2nd" spending 300m through to get these "achievements". They want someone to carry the squad, improve players and at the very least, grind out result if his football is poor so that they stay in the league. Ole doesn't serve any of these purposes.

It's not about playing progressive football. There're other managers who serve the needs of PL clubs better than Ole, both for the top and for the bottom clubs. He failed to achieve required targets for both of these on the two instances he managed in.

Martial and Greenwood had their best seasons under him. Not even Ten Hag has gotten what Ole got from Bruno. Unlocked a consistent Rashford as well. Imagine that, signing a player that was so successful that he could successfully build a team around him! The cheat!
We had a front 4 that all scored 20 goals in a season with a sub in Cavani that came close behind them.
The quality of this season was worse than those two season yet here we are, touching 5th place.
it’s not as easy as Ole made out.
And you have no idea if lower clubs care about cup competitions or not. Does only the CL count if you want to manage fecking Crystal Palace?

Well if the others are actual football managers then they did an even worse job than it’s clear they already did. They should bury their head in sand that a non-manager could achieve a consecutive 3rd and 2nd place league finish with United whereas they didn’t even come close to that.

That happened in two different seasons and only Martial and Rashford got over 20 goals that season.

Oh and that 2nd bolded sentence is definitely debatable.

Yeah that's my point ? What are you talking about ?

That's exactly what I said. Crystal Palace don't give a shit about him finishing 2nd and 3rd with United while splashing 300m to get these "achievements". They only care about a manager who can grind out results with midtable squad and keep them in the league every year. That requires a manager that can actually work with average or below average players, squeeze the best of them and know how to grind results. Does Ole serve this purpose ? No. Does the likes of Moyes serve it ? Yes.

Meanwhile top clubs also won't give a shit about a manager finishing distant 2nd and 3rd and winning nothing while splashing 300m. That's where Ole is.

Rashford is at his best currently under Ten Hag. I'll give you Greenwood but that's about it. That's 2-3 players he has improved over the course of 3 years. Hardly an achievement for a midtable club with an average squad to look at.

There's no reason for these clubs to think of Ole as a savior who can get the team to safety midway in a season.

Bar getting stronger, Greenwood didn’t actually improve much in his game.

Jesus Christ we're not starting this shit again are we? "He's a shit manager who deserves nothing." "No he's not." "Yes he is." "No he's not." "Yes he is." ad nauseam for another 15 pages until everyone gets bored and pisses off for another three months until this nonsense starts again. Let it go for feck sake.
