Ole Gunnar Solskjær | Beşiktaş J.K.

Whats he trying to mimick? A tiger? Making pizza dough with both hands?
Eagle, the official "Animal"/mascot of Besiktas. Seeing how much I love OGS(was one of my childhood heroes, growing up here in Norway as a MU fan). I'm loving this, because Besiktas is "my team" in Turkiye, or at least I follow them.

It's a shame Besiktas have moved away from their policy of giving high profile players a last pay day.

Could have sold them Casemiro, Antony, Shaw.

I dunno, they've still got Immobile, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joao Mario. I feel like all the big Turkish sides are always going to be open to a bit of that.

Yeah, I was kind of expecting a mid-table Bundesliga team or something like that. That would perhaps have been better for him too. But this beats a mid-level national team or a PL relegation battle I guess.

I'm also curious to see how he does.
That was never going to happen. They don't pay managers much and and Ole's wage expectations vs managerial promise ratio isn't especially what mid-table Bundesliga clubs go for.

Honestly didn’t think I’d see him back in another club job that wasn’t Molde. I thought he’d do the Norway job otherwise.

Was expecting more posts on this when reading the forum this morning.

Hope he makes a good go of it how can anyone not like him?

I don't see a scenario where this works out. Weird choice for him and kind of runs counter the narrative that he was swatting away all these offers all this time waiting for the right job.
Agree. Risky project.

By the way:
For which international manager has Turkish football been a good springboard for a further career?

I love Ole but this is a truly bizarre move. The man just needs to coach his kids teams and enjoy his quiet life because he just isn't a football manager. And why he thinks he can have any success is a rigged league like Turkiye that even Mourinho is having a hard time in is beyond me.
Didn’t do much worse than Mourinho at United, so I think saying he just isn’t a football manager is a pretty weird comment.

This is a nice short term project while waiting for the national team job to be available after the world cup, when his contract ends.

My guess is that he is waiting for the Norwegian NT job - working in Turkey won't be an issue in that case.

Post too stupid to think of a reply to

And yet you can't resist. Looks like there is nothing substantial you could come up with.

A United manager that became a club "legend" under SAF said "trophies are for egos", that is objective reality.
If you cannot comprehend why other people will never accept such an attitude, you might have just redefined "too stupid".

Why does it say (sack watch)? The disdain for a club legend is disgraceful, he wasn’t even that bad at Man Utd. The only manager post Fergie to have 2 top 4 finishes in their first full seasons.
He started all this mess at first place with dropping all standards about results, trainings, mentality and expectations. Also spent shit load of money on expensive flops. So yeah, he wasn't that bad. He was disaster.
Also; based on his qualities, he WILL be sacked in 12 months. So sack watch is perfectly valid.

Nah nah nah he was not abysmal appointment. He had has go like 28 games unbeaten away from home, was a penalty miss away from us winning the Europa. Consistently beat Man City, and actually had us being one of the most effective counterattacking teams in the world and had us finish 2nd something only Jose Mourinho has managed to do post Fergie

His signings barring over paying for Maguire also made sense. He left the team in a far better shape than Ten hag ever did. He gave us Varane, Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, the latter 2 players are still key members of our club 4 years after Ole's departure.

tried his damn best to bring in Haaland before he made his move to Dortumend as well as did everything to bring in Bellingham from Birgminham. Even his cheap punts like Dan James brought more to the table than the hacks ETH brought in like Antony mount

Had our attack looking fluid and interchangle between martial, rashford and greenwood where we scored someo the most devastating orchetrasted counter attacking goals since SAF days

So for people to disrespect him and say he's not a football manager AND should be managing kids without taking into consideration the good work he did here is a disgrace. Was he qualified or good enough for the job? No but he didn't isn't our worse ever United manager and he never disgraced himself or ever kept making up excuses for his failings, he conducted himself with class and humility and I believe he can definitely make his mark at a small club
I completely agree and as time passes I am starting to appreciate his work more and more.
He will never be a world class manager, or even a top manager but for us, he was quite good, I mean look at where we are now and where we were back than.

Preach.

If he won that ridiculous penalty shootout he would be remembered more fondly. Also the Ronaldo signing, while a no brainer on paper, put a few noses out of joint.

the Ronaldo signing was a pivotal moment - had we signed a playmaker/defensive midfielder - say a Declan Rice who knows how we would have ended up

was nothing wrong with a front 3 of Rashford - Cavani/Martial - Greenwood

pretty sure that season we reached the final against Villareal our front 3 outscored Mane, Firmino and Salah

little did we know back then how everything would fall apart.

They're playing their Europa League game this afternoon, just gone 3-1 up against Athletic Bilbao with about 10 minutes left. Athletic are unbeaten in the competition so far and beat Fenerbahce 2-0 away in their last game so this would be an excellent result for Besiktas.

Up 3-1 against a Athletic Bilbabo side that have gone 5-1-0 before today. Immediate new manager bounce for a struggling Besiktas

They are also 4th in La Liga with the same amount of points as Barcelona.

Good start for Ole if they can avoid bottling this!

Great start for him, was really worried as this was his first match and these Besiktas players aren't exactly known for their stamina and pressing(which imo I thought would be an issue against Bilbao). But I am pleasantly surprised.

Edit: This might end 4-1, just got a deserved pen.

Really pleased for him, he promised fast direct football and seems he’s delivering already. Hoping he does well there.
