Ole may well look out of his depth. But the lack of investment is the key problem. For me that lies with the board. Why would a manager not want better players? Were a mid table squad.

I need more proof than a vague tweet from Simon Stone to believe that OGS didn't want more signings. He's probably been fed this information from the board.

Yes let's believe what we think is right ahead of a clear piece of news from a relatable source. Why didn't these sources say last season that Mourinho was happy with the squad and didn't want new players as well?

Irrespective there's been numerous reports from valid sources that Solskjaer and Phelan oversaw ALL transfer dealings. Woodward is perfectly capable of making last minute signings, it's highlighted most of his transfer dealings which is a negative. I believe that when Dybala fell through Ole / management had no alternatives. But it doesn't matter, I don't see anything in our play to indicate that Ole is after the attributes of a player surrounding the teams ethics that's why we made no central midfield signings despite having an entire window. Ole to me seems like one of those Sunday league managers who tells players to express themselves without giving any specific instruction towards penetrating the opposition. That's why despite 9 months in charge, the team cannot create clear chances and fail to score goals. It's not as simple as insert striker here and suddenly we are top of the table.

The most irritating thing G Neville spreading the myth that Lukaku wanted out and then Ole sold him. When the truth is that Ole made it clear that Lukaku wasn’t part of his first team and then when Lukaku decided he might aswell accept offers in Italy.

Don’t get me wrong yes Lukaku and Fellaini should have been sold, but it shows that Ole is incredibly naive or was just playing for the applause by getting rid of two effective players without suitable replacements.

The style of play is pretty similar to Mourinho's: the idea is to be solid in defence and to exploit mistakes of the oppositions by hitting them with fast counters. The only difference is that Ole is more willing to use high pressing. But high pressing without having a lot of possession is not sustainable.

We don't really press. We are capable, but we were capable pressing under Mourinho when he called for it too. We play Mourinho football, just run around pointlessly a lot more.

Despite the claim he was happy with the squad, it’s obvious that he’s been hamstrung with a lack of quality investment.

The problem is that he’s not a good enough manager to make up for that - looks totally out of his depth, the team looks flat , totally devoid of ideas/energy and if they really sent pre-season working on fitness and a high-pressing game, then it doesn’t look like time well spent.

I’m not even saying he should be sacked - the club is poor in pretty much every area (bar generating revenue) but he’s only in a job because he used to play for us.

Unfortunately, this might be true. Some were thinking that fitness and running alone will dramatically improve performances. If it were that easy, Bournemouth and Everton would be top 6 teams. They ran a lot last season, without much success though.

We need to replace both.

I'd replace most of the below

Ole
Young
Periera
Lingard
Mata
Matic
Bailly

Just demote all above mentioned players to a reserves team. Officially. Explaining to the media that we are no longer going to tolerate shite performance.

That is standard quote for most players. Ole is the one who forced Lukaku's move. It was not other way around.
I am not saying that Ole is right or wrong there, i am just saying that Lukaku wasn't in his plans and Ole gave green light for thst transfer.

Maybe and giving you that can you not reason that he expected at least a replacement never mind an upgrade?

Before signing Harry Maguire, he said that he hope to sign one or 2 more players. Then a lot of rumours was about us signing a number 10 either Eriksen and Dybala but they didn't want to come. So I think it's fair to assume that Ole was not looking for another striker.

Another thing, even after Pogba, Martial and Shaw got injured, he keep saying we have a big squad. I think he didn't want to sign another striker because he thought that it would be difficult to keep Rashford, Martial, Greenwood and another striker happy. He misjudged the situation badly.

Or you have misjudged it, lower league clubs don’t roll into a season with 2 strikers and a rookie and expect good things.

19 games:
Won 4
Drawn 5
Loss 10

Let's be realistic another loss and Ole should be heading for the door.

That gets quoted a lot, but that was a United squad that had to change tactics because when Ole tried his brand of pressing with them, they started dropping like flies. We also didn't get what we deserved at the end of last season, though I won't make any excuses for our play.

I reckon it makes far more sense to start the clock at the beginning of this season. If we look at the table right now and talk about points tally, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs are all doing as poorly as we are. It's so premature to start talking about firing.

I think they care where we finish, as long it's in the Champions League places, l think they spend just enough to get into a Champions League place but not much more.

It got 'toxic' with Jose because they were perfectly happy with a Champions League place every season and to give Jose 60m or 70m a year transfer budget, a more generous version of the Arsenal model under Wenger.
Jose wasn't having it.

I also think that's a lie Mourinho spent almost 400 million in his time here. To give you a bit of perspective, Poch has spent around 30 million NET each season in the last four years. The problem was not money with Mourinho, it's the identification of who was coming in. His biggest summer and additions Bailey, Zlatan, Pogba and Mhiki. Fell out of favour with the majority. Got Fred the following season who then looked garbage in our 11. The problem with the glazers is they chose to give a dinosaur resources and were surprised with the reality of the result of it.

I think that Ole wanted Rom out and yes, i think that he wanted replacement but only for backup( Mandzukic?) because he was happy with Rashford as main striker and Martial. Also when Rom left, he could have insisted for some quick fix. And lets not forget that his call was Alexis transfer which was after deadline.

You're basing this on your assumption and opinion, but really, you don't have any evidence Ole was frustrated with the summer business. Everything points to the contrary. If you think it looks unbelievable, it means Ole was dumb, not that it's not true.

Lukaku was negotiating with Inter for the entire summer and we had far more than enough time to get a striker, any striker. However, we were only linked to Mandzukic by the end of the market and we didn't go for it. If Ole really wanted a striker we would have tested the water with other options, but that didn't happen.

I will bet you every penny in my pocket verses every penny in your pocket it will come out that we went scatter gun after replacements this summer.

Can someone tell me what Ole has improved since he came. Honestly I would love to know. If people start talking about removing deadwood, then fine but Herrera and Lukaku were hardly deadwood and were not replaced. Seriously I would love to know what people think he has improved on. I watch the team this season and it looks no different to last season no improvement. We dont create chances, we dont score enough goals. We concede too many goals. Our tempo is slow our pressing game has vanished. What has he improved on?

Did you see the stat that even after that horrendous finish last season since he took over we are only 3rd to shockingly city and Liverpool on points won?

The 3 signings have been our best 3 signings for god knows how long

He’s got rid of so many of our deadwood

Is he even improving players? There's no one who seems to have upped their level from last season.

Attitude and desire trophy is ours.
Is it?

If Ole had actually got the team showing improved attitude and desire, fans would be far more forgiving. At least under the otherwise dreadful Jose we had sufficient attitude and desire to make some decent comebacks.

Thing about Ole today is that he went with an unchanged team from the Leicester, he must have thought that was a good team performance when in reality Pereira, Mata and Matic were absolutely pathetic. Playing Mata again was just crazy as he was appalling against Leicester. Last week we got away with it but this week a good goal from Yarmalenko and a DDG goalkeeping mistake led to a tight game being lost. We are going to continue to see up and down results if something doesn't change and we create more chances. Obviously we need Pogba back for that but even with him in the side we are still too insipid. I think that Ole only has the choice to be brave and involve some of the youngsters more because Pereira is terrible in that position and Mata in particular looks completely washed up.

He got rid of Valencia (deadwood) Fellaini (not Utd quality) Herrera (good player) Lukaku (proven goalscorer) Sanchez (shite) Smalling (too many CB's)
The 3 players that have come in have been successful yes.
We are currently 8th in the premier league. 8th. Since March we havent won a game away from home. Since March we are averaging 1.19 points per game which is relegation form.

I also want to call out Carrick and Mckenna, What the feck are these two guys doing? They are supposed to be coaches and yet we look like one of the least coached teams in the league

We all know that Ole was hard done by in the summer, regardless of Stone trying to cover Woodward by spinning that its Ole that declined another signing, but for me the biggest disappointment is his inability to make the best of what he has at his disposal. He is sending out teams hamstrung by semi retired players like Mata and Matic or bang out of form players like Rashford and Lingard whilst playing them in a formation that demands the most of that out of sorts quartet.

By playing Mata and Matic in midfield you basically have one player in midfield and can't move the ball or shield the defence. Why not just chuck them out to the stands, use Tuanzebe at CDM for now and play a 4-4-2 diamond for now with Tuanzebe at the base, flanked by Fred and Mctominay with Gomes at the top? At the very least you are hard to beat and have a semblance of control of proceedings. Rashford and James as the strikers to hassle and run the channels.

The most irritating thing is Ole going whilst insisting on using the players that got his predecessors the sack. I am disappointed that instead of planting the seeds for the next great side he is still placing much faith on players like Matic and Mata who are semi retired, Pereira and Lingard who arent good enough for this level and Rashford who looks out of sorts and burnt out.
I think we spent about £300m in 2 seasons trying to get into the Champions League places, once we got in we spent £60m.
Whilst the Glazers are to blame for failing to see the obvious I don't think they can be blamed too much for the amounts of money that has been spent. A club shouldn't be spending £800m just to become an established top 4 team. The fact that we have spent so much and not come close to challenging for the CL is an indictment on Woodward and the managers.

Neville and some "DNA" fans seems to think that because 2 big names failed we should not go that route ever again. If Klopp was willing most would jump at it

It’s kind of mad that, 6 years after Fergie’s retirement, we STILL haven’t hired a manager that ticks the two most basic of boxes. Recent top flight success and no track history of spectacular fall-outs with players/owners. Not a lot to ask, surely?!

I agree with this, you can’t have a rookie manager and rookie coaches and expect success.

Klopp was the manager to get, we weren't just ruthless enough when he became available. Now we have to scout the next great attacking manager and lure him, hopefully he will have an appetite for a rebuild otherwise we are looking at decades in the wilderness.

We tried for Klopp but he didn’t fancy a shit Manchester Disneyland.

The fact that we lost 3 first team regulars and didn't replace one in addition to needing reinforcements in defense and midfield. We didn't sign anywhere near the players we needed to compete.

General mood. People are laughing, tea ladies love going to work and he is not parking car on managers spot because it is Fergie's spot.

Nice guy but totally wrong man for the job, this much was evident after the shite run we had towards the end of last season.

Exactly, we have a manager who has little chance of succeeding but at least still acting with class and humility, something our previous manager didn’t and has never done never mind our own “fans”
