I think we're setting Ole to fail. I mean take AWB as an example. This guy is known for one thing ie tackling. Guess what? His tackle was as clumsy as can be. Then there's Maguire. The guy got burned by the Young boys striker just as he was burned by Newcastle which lead to their goal. That's 130m talent brought by god knows who. Not to forget that we simply had to play Jesse as the guy he was playing was clearly shit. I said it multiple times and I say it once again. Unless we've got 35 WC player in their prime then we're setting the guy to fail.

If he wins a trophy this year he stays.

When he doesn't, he goes.

That's the situation, he's earned that.

Given everything I've seen to date, he won't win a trophy. So we can start looking at options around March I'd say.

He's done an excellent job of turning around the mood, squad and so forth, and should go with our thanks.

Would you think he'd survive being knocked out of the CL group?

I know to might sound mad but the fact we cocked last year up and this year we are off to a Even worse start.

It's not just Ole, it's Carrick and McKenna too, they're all way out of their depth and get found out in situations like tonight. You'd think we'd had two or three players sent off the way we went about it.

I'd be happy to keep Ole but he needs experience around him and not a pair of yes men.
This. Ole needed to be ruthless and upgrade them but he is too sentimental for that. Having not one experience training ground coach when Manager strength lies more in management and team building is ridiculous.

Just look at the way Chelsea plays (watching them right now), no player takes more than two touches in their own half. Our coaching compared to theirs is night and day. No amount of signings make up for coaching this deficient.

It's sadly something our fans ignore

Ok, he needs to build his squad. Can't beat (or have patterns in play) without dmc.
Kidding aside; his tactical knowledge is non existent. His style is to throw players in and say; improvise.
I bet that if he is a manager of any of bottom 10-12 teams in PL, he would relegate them.
I really don't have words anymore to describe how awful manager he is.

I said it before and I'll say it once again - we're never gonna win anything with him. Tactically clueless, his decisions are baffling, ideologically an underdog manager, his subs... well, you know them well. AWB laid the coffin, but Ole was the one who buried us. Again and again and again. Absolute legend as a player, but was never fit to be our manager.

This game was the perfect example of his management. Players can't pass, have a hard time defending the ball, when we go back players just hop it forward with long balls like we're Stoke or something, he still picks his favorites (WHY TAKE DONNY OFF? Fred was a calamity the entire game. Why play AWB when Dalot, albeit not a better option, was preferred here? Why the feck does he persist with Lingard? Where was Mason... Jesus I don't even want to go on with the amount of things he fecked up today). And you know what's my biggest gripe? We still have no identity. We still have no style of play. If City and Liverpool lost a man here, they'd still have battered them. We made them look like Pep's Barcelona. Why? Why are we so shit at everything despite the quality of the side? We always have to rely on individual brilliance like Bruno's pass in order to do anything of note. Do we press, do we play tiki taka, are we the brilliant counter-press team of Sir Alex in 07-10? What are we? I see nothing. In attack we are toothless, in defense we are a calamity... It's just terrible all around.

He needs to go. Get Zidane in before he goes back to Madrid. I'm sure he'll love it here given the amount of backing and hands-off approach from the management. Otherwise we're fecked with this experiment.

Answer me this. Do you think if Liverpool or City came here, they would have cowered like us and made Young Boys look like prime Barcelona? No, they would have enforced their style, 10 men or not. That's the simple difference between a manager like Ole and managers like Pep and Klopp. fecking hell, Chelsea didn't look any worse when they played with 10 man against Liverpool. I mean - that's disgusting, no matter how you look at it. And it's all down to Ole.
If you have tracked my record you would know, that I am one of the critics of Ole so no need to convince me. I said I think, he made a mistake by going fully defensive so early and to such degree. It shouldn't happen. I also don't understand, why we stopped trying to play our style, especially as we are way better against teams that attack us. All in all, I see the issue, I hope, Ole identifies it as an issue (getting way to defensive only to concede late was an issue in his early days already but he overcame it to some degree - until today) but all about cowering and sacking, I don't think, that's necessary. Its a CL match, away from home, you are one player down. It isn't a sackable offense to try to hold on to it. I think, he overdid it, it can happen.

We are faced with having to put a shift in to beat villareal and atalanta. Its gonna be very difficult.

Of course. It's the Champions League, not Sunday league football.

Young Boys, 21 points leaders in 2021 Swiss league, they must be a champion for a reason, right?

Have some respect, AWB fecked up.

Thanks for memories and few moments of magic like vs Paris in CL, thanks for being our legend, big thanks for building a great squad and not being a miserable cnut like our previous manager but it’s time to go. This squad deserves a better manager with better tactical skills and more flair in adapting his game plan.

Chelsea had man down at bloody Anfield. And could have won the game. Because manager knows his job.

We needed to take control of the game after the red card. Bring on Varane for Lindelof and squeeze the game in their half. Get Dave to stand on the edge of his box and sweep up any out balls on the Astro. Play to the strengths of our best players. We’re only short of a forward ffs. Make the pitch smaller not bigger Ole you clown. He went another way of course.

For me, the biggest factor is the lack of game control, even the games we won. Too many last ditch tackles, too many misplaced passes. Things you don't see other top clubs in Europe. The team is fantastic now, no excuses for Ole for me.

Agreed that his in-game management subs which many of his critics tend to focus on aren’t the biggest issues. It’s the absence of a robust enough structure that allows our players to control games with any consistency. The way we play would probably have brought success in the past, but not in this era of football when even coaches of mid table sides micromanage how their teams play to this degree. We are seriously handicapping ourselves by persisting with this approach.

Our squad is now good enough that it will probably make up for his incompetence over the course of a season. Ronaldo, Varane, Bruno and a hopefully resurgent Pogba should have enough individual quality to see us make Top 4 comfortably this season, and maybe even carry our team to a trophy somewhere. Which just means more Ole. He showed he wasn't good enough 2 years ago but we waited too long to remove him and now we're stuck since sacking him means the Ole cult portion of the fanbase are going to go nuts.

So, has he made any excuses to the press yet?

Will probably moan about the referee not giving Ronaldo a penalty or some similar bizarre excuse

Damn, excuses are getting better and better. Yeah, lets blame AWB.

That last 10 minutes before the half time was a ticking time bomb.

I can understand why we're going defensive. Was it the wrong choice? Of course it was because we lost, but nobody can predict the kind of luck the goals we conceded.

Let's be honest here, Young Boys were very lucky to score today.

I think the change at half time was a bad call. It set the tone for the second half and we just could not get on to the ball in midfield.

Hopefully it doesn’t cost us.

saf would have done exactly this. and to be fair it should have been a pen and game over

It would be very interesting to see what Tuchel could do with this squad. Or Conte... those are the some of the very best best managers in the world.

Then we would finally have the question answered if Ole is really as bad as some think or if it is the players. Too bad we cant find out without actually firing Ole...

Wait Wumminator started with his Billy big Bollocks routine and United lost again? No way. Never seen that before.

Can anyone logically explain the rationale behind his changes tonight? I can't.

People talk about critisicm being knee-jerk based on this loss, but it's not true at all.

His CL record is played 11, lost 7. Yes, seriously. He's just comically out of his depth at this level.

My issue is that after the 10 minutes I would want a United manager to take his team in to the dressing room and give them confidence that don’t panic and we should be able to still control this . Instead he went in and came back with a defensive sub which lead to a second half where we couldn’t get 2 passes together

11 versus 11 for the full match. What would have been the scoreline?
Think we would've won it comfortably, something like 3-1. I was only able to watch first half and we looked comfortable until Wan Bissaka's red card.

On Ole: Not getting through group stages this time would be unacceptable, therefore October and November should tell us what is his fate as our manager, with lots of difficult games in PL and CL coming up then. We cannot affort to get out of CL in group stages again, so few crucial months coming up. Villarreal and Atalanta are not top teams obviously but are good enough to give us problems.

Mayswel of pulled his pants down and bent over when we went down to ten men, cowerdly approach, no idea...Got what we asked for. Pathetic management of the situation.
