I’m relatively relaxed about us progressing through this group, but that’s not the concern here. The issue is the wider picture — I, and many others, just don’t think Ole has it in him to take us further than what he’s done.

Well that is fair. I'll stop being as supportive when we stop progressing.

The problem is that we've been continiously progressing as a team. This result isolated isnt a concern for me, with 11 men we don't lose.

Next is Atalanta and Villarreal. As if we are going to win it. Both are tactically we drilled teams. Europa , here we come.

It's not just Ole, it's Carrick and McKenna too, they're all way out of their depth and get found out in situations like tonight. You'd think we'd had two or three players sent off the way we went about it.

I'd be happy to keep Ole but he needs experience around him and not a pair of yes men.

Conte says hi

needs to be careful. He’s got to win something this season...
I’d kill for Conte. We’d win the league at a canter. It’ll probably go tits up the season or two after but it’d stop an 8 year period of wilderness.

That performance showed as if we never practice playing 10 vs 11 in training. Those are drills which all managers deploy during training to allow the team to get used to such situations. However for some reason it felt like it came as a shock to everyone on the pitch.
The last red I remember from us is the 6-1 defeat to Spurs, where we again just gave up.

Time and time again he's shown his incompetence. We had enough quality to win that game even with 10 players. This loss is all on the manager really.

Im relieved this is just a group game and not a semi-final or final. But seeing that the same has happened in the past, I reckon Ole doesn't learn from his mistakes and his assistant coaches do feck all.

He is not helping himself now. His in game management is horrendous. Playing like cowards just because you have a player sent off is weird. Poor poor management.

His record in the CL is awful, didn't think it would be that bad.

I don't understand what he was trying to do tonight, subs and tactics made no sense at all.

Can't help but think he is far too reliant on individual brilliance. I hope he proves people like me wrong and wins the league this season, but I just can't see it.

FFS, all the feel-good factor is gone too.
Hes reliant on it because thats his style of play. He doesn't enforce and regulate tactics because he favours expression

No. That was an awful performance. This was 2 stupid incidents that occurred neither of which had bollocks all to do with tactics or whatever other shite people are talking about.

We had zero chances after the sending off. That was down to the manager's tactics, or lack of.

The poor subs cost us a draw. Always a battle a man down for that long. But Martial and Jesse were bloody pointless subs - when we needed to hold up the ball further up and slow down the play.

Martial barely played. He is a poor tactician, if you dont accept that by now then I am sorry.
3 years on, we still dont have an identity.

He hasn't played for about 2 years.

Like I said, he got it wrong. The subs were laughable, game management was non existent.

Martial and Lingard, shouldn't be anywhere near the club, but here they are playing in the CL. Bringing these two on in any game is wrong, tonight it was totally fcuking wrong.

But, identity and tactics means fcuk all if seasoned professionals including 2 world cup winners can't organise themselves on the pitch against one of the worst teams in the CL with 10 men.

What a mistake to put Lindgard on for CR7. He had Martial available. What about Greenwood? Ole needs to be ruthless with players like Lindgard. He should have been sold. Now he needs to be benched. If Ole cannot display ruthlessness after this game, he deserves the sack, and it will come sooner rather than latter.

 The difference in this thread when United win vs when they dont or they lose. I wish the people who are so quick to criticise would be fair and praise too when theres a good win.

Dont get me wrong, I think today is mostly on him (AWB daft tackle aside when YB were hardly creating anything). But his subs and formation changes were just bizarre. He got it wrong (but even so, we were ok at 1-1, and then Lingard does that... ugh).
And yes, I know he was subbed on by the manager, but still, thats very very bad. It wasnt even underhit, cos if it was hit any stronger, its going out wide of the box. It was like the perfect assist.

Ole is going to stand there and take all the blame as he always does. But isolated, Jesse cost us the point here.

Bizarre decision to take off Sancho and not replace him with Greenwood or anyone with any sort of pace. Left us with no out ball and someone to carry us up the pitch, which meant we resorted to hoofing the ball away at every opportunity and gifting them back possession constantly.

We are quick to demand we sell our deadwood players but we forget that the worst of the lot is sitting in the dugout. I have never known a manager so capable of pulling defeat from the jaws of victory.

Much like England with Southgate, the team we now have is far too good to be wasted on a failing managerial experiment.

Judging by some in here- if he goes on to win the next 5 out of 5 is he the greatest since sliced bread? It’s one game, with 10 men. The haters need to relax a bit
It's not one game. We have a fair share of absolutely disgraceful performances, like today, against Wolves and even Southampton it was crap. Quite often we manage to escape with a win because we have top squad but we don't perform anywhere near as well as we should.

His sub didn’t fail tactically? It failed because a player made an error he wouldn’t make 9999 times in 10000. Lingard is to blame for what he did. It has feck all to do with tactics.

Red cards and errors happen. But Explain the total lack of compusure of the team. It looked like we were down to 9. The last time we went down to a big team we got thrashed. Contrast that with Chelsea with 10 men. Tuchel came in and Chelsea shot up the table with the same squad. That's the difference between a poor to average manager and a good one. It's not about individuals and individual errors. It's not about this sub or that sub. It's about the entire structure, composure of the team. It's the coaching and the tactics. Frankly I'm done with him.

Today is the first time I'm saying it, but he needs to go.

People keep saying one game this or that. We literally got played off the park by Wolves and drew with Southampton. We haven’t played a good team so far this season

He’s just not good enough. Put him in charge of any one of Brighton, Burnley, Newcastle, Palace, Southampton, etc. Any of them, clubs who usually stay up comfortably, and I guarantee you he would get them relegated. 100% guarantee.

Ole should have played the above team and bringi in Greenwood at the later stage.

Yeah we should be beating a team with a name like "Young Boys" 6-0 right?
We should because they are very very bad compared to us. We should be struggling against them right? Based on their pitch being difficult to play on? Right?

That’s fine and your opinion but he ain’t going anywhere.
Why? What has he done that warrants more time? He isn't going to win anything major with united and today is further proof that he can't deal with well organized teams. Or are we going to heap more praise on him for beating a shit Newcastle.

Ole is going to stand there and take all the blame as he always does. But isolated, Jesse cost us the point here.

Yep. Im worried about our set up whenever we go to ten men. Seen it against Spurs, and PSG and again tonight.
We look like weve lost three men, and just cant pass. Everybody panics and then we have some weird set up. Instead of being structurally strong, it seems the plan is just try and put on as many defensive minded people, when the one area we struggle in is our defensive midfield.

It really wouldn’t. 1-1 was not a good result.
This is a game we should win and at home. Villarreal and Atalanta definitely won't be easy. Although on passed form we will turn up for those games. Don't you find that when we have a good result we go into the next game with the wrong attitude. Sometimes we get away with it, tonight we didn't.

Chelsea sacked club legend lampard when they realised he couldn't take them forward anymore, brought in a manager that actually has a clue and look at them now.

It's obvious We've reached our limits with Ole and we should do the same or else it's out of Europe, out of domestic cups, hello top 4.
