The man brought on Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial to see out a game with 10 men, where we were under extreme pressure.

He hasn't a fecking clue. An absolute fraud at this level.

Careful. People here will tell you it was Lingard who lost us the game, and not the actual manager who brought him on.

His sub didn’t fail tactically? It failed because a player made an error he wouldn’t make 9999 times in 10000. Lingard is to blame for what he did. It has feck all to do with tactics.

The tactics were to park the bus for an hour against a team we should be beating easily, even with a man down. His subs were retarded. We deserved to lose. He hadn't a clue what to do after the red card. I like Solskjaer, but that was inexcusable.

Well, todays match gives everything you need to know about him as a manager. He might be a good person. But he is not a good coach or tactician.
I still have the same reservations but there was also a few things that were out of his control. I’m as pissed off with him as the next person on here but it’s still too early to call it a day.

This is one of the most cowardly performances I’ve ever seen from a Manchester United manager. Absolutely pathetic.

His inexperience really showed tonight. He absolutely shat the bed when we went down to 10 men...

He really needs to stop this. Let the players go down fighting at least.

Repeat what I have been saying for ages. To reach the very top, you need a the most talented coaches. I am all for him staying but I accept we will always be a nearly team. Others should do the same.

He's about 1/3rd of SAF. Maybe 2/5ths. He has some of SAF's good traits.

Shambolic peformance. He doesn't seem to know how to set up a team to play high quality possesion play. 3 years and we are still terrible at it.

At this point, one is probably being a bit too kind (nothing wrong with that) using that word. It's really clear he doesn't know.

The sending-off (which obviously wasn't Ole's fault) was the turning point which dictated how the rest of the game went. And you can't really account for Lingard's braindead backpass either.

That said, we regularly see sides play better with ten men than we did, even against much better opposition. And Solskjaer's changes weren't exactly faultless. So he can't escape criticism entirely because of the red. We shouldn't have been that bad following a sending off, especially against a fairly poor side.

A lot went wrong today from our players and staff. I think Ole made some poor calls. Looked very troubled with what to do even after the break.

I understand that red cards early in the game is not exactly what you got a plan for. That said, it is part of the game and it’s important to adjust fast.

He need to take responsibility for this and learn from it. Not remotely good enough.

No execuses. On paper we have one of the best teams in the world. We dont play like it though.

Should have taken off Pogba because he does not have the legs.

Sanchos confidence looks shot as well.

Yeah I wish Ole coach them to play with 10 men starting tomorrow.
A good coach actually drills the team so they can keep possession without panicking with hoof ball when times get tough.

Don't be so daft.

He should be sacked if we can't get through this group stage.

No more excuses.
but why? You think the board will react when half the fans here still rate him very highly. They would happily keep him another 4 years even if he doesn't win a single trophy.

The Martial for Fred sub was absolutely baffling.

It also meant it pushed Lingard into midfield where he ended up costing us the match.

We were 1-0 up when he made his changes. Then when that didn’t work, he went more defensive. Until the last couple of minutes when he brought a midfielder off for a striker and moves the player he did have up front into the position the defensive midfielder was playing in. I mean, you couldn’t make worse decisions without trying. And none of that requires hindsight. We’ve all watched this United team be absolutely shite at defending leads.
If the game ends 1-1 then the rhetoric is completely different. Everyone's acting like Solskjaer played the back pass.

this game has made me firmly think we need someone else if we are gonna progress, he was absolutely clueless after we went down to 10 just headscratching subs, takes ronaldo and bruno off, brings on lingard on, then takes fred off for 2 minutes of martial and guess what happened, lingard having to defend deeper gave them all 3 points

It's terrible game management from Ole again in the CL. So many defenders on but no structure to hold the ball, it's just invites the opposition on.

Should be a 4-4-1 with players in their usual places.

Ole likes to put defenders in other games as well, it's the main thing I dislike about him is his negative approach to get over the line. it ends up cluttering defence and midfield so much we're just pinned back when we don't have to be.

Any remaining balance we had was gone once taking Fred off with a few minutes to go, he's one of the few first team midfielders we have out of a bad lot. That second goal was just inevitable.

Absolute kamikaze list of subs.

Having Lingard in the squad is stupid but that’s not what the problem is here. To be completely outplayed against a Swiss team (being a man down or not) isn’t on lingard. 3 years in and I genuinely have no idea what the coaches train during the week. No progression at all. Just relying on individual brilliance. Not to mention the absolute shambles when we get pressed bu a team who aren’t even half decent at it

Agreed. Half time. Should have had the talk with him that it would have been better to save him for Sunday and let someone on whom can put a defensive shift in. Complete bottle job in that regard. He has to make tough calls where big egos are involved.

Yep. Ronaldo is not the man to have if your tactic is to park the bus. He doesn't work defensively. We effectively played with 9 men.

The game management was an absolute disgrace again tonight. He can't hack it in Europe at all. Subpar manager who rides his luck, but that luck will run out at some stage.

That is true. They are however a moderately better team than ASC Young Boys.

I'm pretty relaxed about this.
I’m relatively relaxed about us progressing through this group, but that’s not the concern here. The issue is the wider picture — I, and many others, just don’t think Ole has it in him to take us further than what he’s done.

Anyone defending the Fred - Martial sub is clueless and should just log off.

This isnt about this one game. Ole has never and will never be a top manager. He never learns from his mistakes and even now he has the same problems. Years have passed and we still dont have a definitive style of play. Wingers dont know whether to beat their man or not. They dont know whether to put in a cross or play back. If they cross, they dont where to put it. Strikers dont know where to be because they cant tell whether the cross will come or not. The speed at which midfielders pass the ball is dead slow. Its all just vibes. Players do whatever they feel as and when they feel. The only good thing is people will realise how fake ole is by the end of this season

Wheres zizou nowadays?

Maybe conte?

I've no doubts they'd get a tune out of this team.

AWB getting sent off and Lingard passing the ball to them in his own box with the last kick of the game is totally on Ole. You agenda pushing shit heads.
Parking the bus & completely surrendering into our own box for 60 minutes against Young Boys of Bern is on Ole.

Ole has rebuilt the club superbly. But he can’t take our football to the level required, given the competition we’re up against.

It’s always been so telling that our ability in possession is so haphazard and inconsistent. This season it’s really starting to show when we have excellent to great players in nearly every single position.

Sticking to the old way of getting the ball to your forwards and letting them work their magic without providing them with a robust structure to do so is just handicapping ourselves.

I have no doubt that if it was 11 vs 11 we would have won the game, but as soon as Wan Bissaka got sent off we had a disaster. That is unforgivable. In the position we put ourselves in, a proper team would have come away with a 1-0 win, minimum. The other top English sides would have controlled this game much better and given nothing away. We almost used the red card as an excuse to go into our shell and surrender possession. The substitutions were dreadful. Just a tactical mess.

Really poor in game management today, he hasn’t got many more of these if he doesn’t want people to think he’s inadequate. I don’t know who he was talking to after AWB got sent off but whoever was giving him tactical advice doesn’t know a fecking thing about game management.

I recall Pep when managing Bayern going a man down to City and they were even with 10 men able to control the game. We couldnt even do it against Young Boys.

I think really the bottom line is Ole is not getting the best out of the players he has.

Judging by some in here- if he goes on to win the next 5 out of 5 is he the greatest since sliced bread? It’s one game, with 10 men. The haters need to relax a bit

Just think about it for a second, so you are down to 10 and you go to a back 5 and are then left with Ronaldo ,Pogba ,Bruno and Fred as the other 4 players on the pitch . Every time Bruno or Pogba touched the ball there was literally no option at all . Seriously what kind of tactics are these . How can a man paid millions to run a club worth billions be so clueless

Ole has been United manager for 3 years now and I challenge you to tell me what his style of play is ? Literally no one knows . Are we a pressing team ? Possession team ? Long ball team ? . No we are a buy big players and inshallah team

His record in the CL is awful, didn't think it would be that bad.

I don't understand what he was trying to do tonight, subs and tactics made no sense at all.

Can't help but think he is far too reliant on individual brilliance. I hope he proves people like me wrong and wins the league this season, but I just can't see it.

FFS, all the feel-good factor is gone too.

 The difference in this thread when United win vs when they dont or they lose. I wish the people who are so quick to criticise would be fair and praise too when theres a good win.

Dont get me wrong, I think today is mostly on him (AWB daft tackle aside when YB were hardly creating anything). But his subs and formation changes were just bizarre. He got it wrong (but even so, we were ok at 1-1, and then Lingard does that... ugh).
And yes, I know he was subbed on by the manager, but still, thats very very bad. It wasnt even underhit, cos if it was hit any stronger, its going out wide of the box. It was like the perfect assist.
