Before the game when people were asking if we lost if it meant he should go, I said not a chance.

The none use of subs is such a massive issue though. Basically saying to 50% of the squad you're not good enough. Had no clue how to change the game and allows players to get away with terrible performances instead of dragging them off.

Rashford looked about 30% fit and even after going down injured still didn't come off. Lindelof plays all season at RCB and then switches to LCB for the final.

Even a couple of his transfers aren't looking great now with James (speculative punt so not too bad) AWB offers nothing on the front foot, DvB can't get on at all, Telles (back up + Shaw stepping up so acceptable).

Besides Cavani and Fernandes I wouldn't say there have been any shrewd signings.

After the rage has died down though, I will say I think he's been the perfect manager for us for the last couple of years, he's got us back to being an actual team again and cleared out so much of the deadwood, but to take us further and progress to the next level I think we're going to have to look elsewhere.

I feel overall it has been an awful season.

When we see the highlights then we have won nothing.
Played 0-0 boring games in most big games.
Bottled stopping City from winning titles
Bottled stopping Liverpool from reaching CL
Seeing Chelsea vs City in CL final and us into Europa league
Not over 80 points thus not being even that close to win it

On the positive we have.
Leeds and Southampton home games.
City away win.
Liverpool in the cup win
Also PSG and Leipzig wins.
Roma first game as well and Real Sociedad first game.

We clearly aren't, I fully agree on that. But at the same time we are not becoming the United of old with Ole in charge. I know it, you know it and everybody knows it even though they want to convince themselves otherwise. Ole would not survive at any other big club, it's as simple as that. But since we clearly have no ambition of winning anything, he will get his contract extended (probably already has, just waiting for announcement). We have the best team since SAF but at the same time the worst coaching staff and we are in this situation where we will be "challenging" for things but never win anything because when you get to the later stages of the cups, coaching matters probably even more than the players.
We have the best team since SAF yet have to rely on Bailly as back up to Maguire.....ok.

You are seriously deluded of you think that anyone of Bailly or Lindelof would get into a SAF team.

He did amazing in Europe. Knocked out Barcelona and the ex champion before coming across the best team in Europe who he outplayed and forced pep team to play on the counter which rarely any manager can do. His double in the league is a good step before he can make signing and improve the psg team over the Tuchel side, which seems like he is doing already

You don't need to explain yourself. Honestly, if United played like PSG did in the CL under Ole, this lot would be purring. I'd be buying into it big time too. But our reality is different unfortunately. He'll, even if we did as well as Spurs did under Poch I'd believe in the rebuild and the progress, not what we've got to try and accept is progress. Worlds apart.

This thread that is full of Ole fan boys spreading their bile and bullying posters who criticize a manager, the thread was made after winning against Rome like we won the champions league and the treble. Defending their manager (not the club). Now we need them here to answer our questions,

We want them here to explain how a full team that cost less than Paul Pogba can win against our team in a final?

Shame them if they cant answer.

on the top of that list goes the
@Wumminator
@ivaldo
@Cast5
@lysglimt
@SirAnderson
@RedChisel
@MyOnlySolskjaer
@Knux
@Leftback99
@TheReligion
@Monks_United
@ClaytonBlackmoorLeftPeg
@Crustanoid
@dal
@Ramshock

Those are only from the first two pages. More will be added if needed.
Ooh i'm in esteemed company there thanks!

I didn't even mention Ole in my one post and was merely pointing out how idiotic and reactionary fans can be, which you've kinda proved with this pointless thread.

He's not getting sacked, so let's cut out the stupidity.

This man needs to reorganize that backroom team, at the very least.
The coaches in the forefront are one who just stepped into retirement and the other stepped out of the academy.
That is not a level to be experimenting with for a club of this stature.

Also, the demands on the players surely need to be much greater. There seems to be too many players getting away with poor mentalities and poor games consistently.
It needs to end.

Give me one difference between the current United and Spurs under Poch whom posters here mock him for being a bottler and not having a winning mentality ?

Absolutely nothing.

Also a team who plays good but at the same time bottlers and don't have winning mentality.

We have become Spursed.
Were happy taking our top 4 trophy and making incremental imorovments.

Cant see us winning a big trophy for at least 5 years if this is our level of ambition.

We simply aren't managed well enough to play the football we need to, to get back to the top. It'll take a long while imo

I don't use americanism like 'boomer'.

But yes age and experience gives you perspective. The good and bad times come and go - believe me this is not the bad times. We are taking the right road map back to success and although you and others have no patience - thankfully those around the club seem to get it.

You don't know the game better just because you've been watching longer. You're not an ex player or a manager, you're a supporter just like everyone else so spare us the attempts to educate.

The difference is Poch actually came close to winning the league and the CL and lost to better teams.

We're here arguing about losing the EL final to Villarreal.

He is going to lose the dressing room. The players are going to be fuming with that set up

I have defended him all season but he really let himself and the club down tonight.

Not going to moan at the starting 11 as I approved of it. But he failed to react to their deep defensive block and basically allowed Emery to steal one tonight.

Not making any subs until nearly the 100th minute too was ridiculous.

I feel this day will sadly be the one that kills Ole long term. If we can't beat the 7tj best team in Spain with all the resources we have then not sure where we go from here tbh.

Not read the comments but he he needed to make subs and be braver.

Amad for Rashford could have been a masterstroke in the 70th minute.

Sat hoping Villereal sky a penalty because I know the keeper won’t save one...wondering why the manager didn’t sub the keeper

I will remember all the comebacks from this season. It’s been a rollercoaster season and we’ve conceded first almost in every game but came back with a win. It’s been great to watch those comebacks! But yeah, would feel better with a win tonight of course..

This manager should have never been given the job on a permanent basis in the first place. How a club in the size and prestige of our club appoint a manager from the Norwegian league? and people wonder why are we miles off City and Liverpool.

I know this isn’t the place for rational talk and the usual are out in force but I think the fact Fred wasn’t fit from the start hurt us a lot more than people realise. It meant we went all in and didn’t have a game changer from the bench. We should have still won within the 90 minutes and in all honesty I though we played well second half and totally dominated them. Extra time was a horror show though - as was leaving rashford on - but I think Ole trusts his big players to his detriment at times - but ultimately that’s why they like him.

Do you have a problem reading? I said SINCE. Our current back 4 (and the entire team) is better than anything we had in the last 6 years or so. Remember Darmian - Blind - Smalling - Rojo (Shaw) ? Or Jose's Valencia - Lindelof - Smalling -Young? We quite clearly have the best team SINCE SAF but as I said, unfortunately the clearly worst coaching staff.

Came close to winning the league? He finished third as that footballing powerhouse Leicester City won it and second to worldbeaters Lille.

Where were Spurs before they hired him and where were they when he left?

Starting lineup was good, tactics were not.

Starting lineup was not good. He bottled it, didn't have the balls to make a decision to leave one of Rashford, Greenwood or Pogba on the bench.

No wonder most of the squad acted like spoilt brats collecting their medals, seems like "the boys" are just that and are constantly being pandered to and infantilised.

Not making any subs until nearly the 100th minute too was ridiculous.
Given the impact those subs made, there is zero evidence they would've done much had they come earlier. We were on top until maybe the last ten minutes of the match.

The biggest issue is also that top 4 will not be as easy to get next season. City already miles ahead of us, Liverpool had big injury problems, Chelsea will spend big etc. The team will without doubt be in bad spirits after tonight. I'm not really sure what he thinks he can achieve here tbh. Tonight proved he's not a winner.

Not the boys, just Rashford. Considering all the great things Rashford off the pitch aid in PR, I wouldn't be surprised if the owners are part of it too.

Tonight was not a good performance, but it was hardly surprising. We’ve been relying on individual moments of brilliance all season.

These players do not know how to win as a collective and that’s never going to good enough if the aim is to be successful.

We can talk about the details, and they are obviously important, but the major issue is that this is not a team. You wouldn’t bet on us to win almost any game.

There’s very little intentionality, conviction, and aggression, in either the attacking or defending, and there are few signs that the players have a clear idea of what they are attempting to achieve on the pitch.

Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Leicester, all have a clear identity and, crucially, players that understand their role within the team.

We finished above three of those teams in the league, and that has to be recognised, but if we are to make the next step, then we have to become a collective unit, cut out the mistakes, and stop relying on individual players to win games.

The obvious flaw in that strategy was laid bare tonight. Our most important individuals failed to perform.
