Any big club would sack their manager after that. Imagine Bayern tolerating that..they wouldn't. Should be sacked tomorrow for that but won't be.

And who do you bring in knowing full well that you can't fork up the funds to rebuild the squad for them?

Unfortunately the owners will probably give him another 3 year contract.

Yeah that shouldn't happen

Even though it hurts right now it would be kneejerk to get rid now. Let Ole see out his final year and then let him walk away

Use the next 12 months putting in place plans for his successor

I do. It is about progress. We are now one step closer and I expect trophy next year.

How can you look at his woeful performances in semi finals and finals and think this is a man who will bring us trophies!?

We've made no progress in how we perform on the big occasions. We've gone backwards in our performances against teams of a similar level.

Strap yourself in for a horrible time next season.

I’m sorry but he’s clueless. In game management is just so amateurish.

Doesn’t make a sub until 100 minutes. Throws the rest on for penalties but then that doesn’t get the impact of having fresh legs and lets the starting XI just run in to the ground. Could see us visibly getting tired and sitting off/not able to press and he just sits there.

Considering how he himself was a ‘super sub’, I just find it odd.

We’ve finished 2nd, 5 points ahead of a Liverpool side we’ve laughed at most of the season and trophyless again.

His management tonight on the big stage was quite frankly woeful and inept. He was schooled by Emery who was a laughing stock at Arsenal.

This will take some sugar coating to cheer many fans up tonight. Simply not good enough.
A Unai Emery who'd quite frankly be welcomed back at arsenal!!
Ole made some wrong choices tonight, and waited too long to make changes, but I'd still give him the benefit of doubt the fact it took a missed penalty from a keeper to lose the game.

He's done enough to earn next season so can't be bothered to moan beyond that right now. His flaws are obvious to most, he'll either improve or he won't.

At this point there's surely only two options - surround him with top class coaches, or go out and get a new manager entirely.
He's already shown that with our current setup, having a squad multiple times better than the competition won't necessarily equate to success, so throwing another £150m and cslling it a day really isn't going to get us anywhere.

He won't get sacked, but he will eventually.I just wish it isn't a long drought till we realise he isn't the man to take us to that next level and win trophies.

Ole - you've done a great job steadying the ship and getting CL spots but time's about to end.
99% of manager are sacked eventually , so yes you are right, probably

As a fan over 45 years - i've seen United sides of all standards. I've seen the years just prior to success and know the signs. We're knocking on the door and with some investment the future looks positive.

Sorry if that doesn't fit your 'ole out' agenda.
Agenda

Behave yourself. We didn't even try and win that game.

It's always the same with this club, as I said earlier in the season, they won't act proactively, will wait until it's absolutely confirmed he isn't good enough, by which the top managers would have all joined other teams, leaving us with the second tier, which we will continue to waste years on again, missing out on further top class options cause we left it too late. Rinse and repeat for a fecking decade.

Don't want him to go but really showed his weaknesses tonight. We were on the front foot until the last 10 min of normal time but he didn't read the direction of the game because he probably was too scared to sub off one of our best attackers. This really became evident in ET where everyone was completely gassed.

3 years in club, spent 300mil euros, lostcall important cup games and he deserves ANOTHER season? How low are standards for some of you? Big clubs sack managers after first season and we will go with failed Cardiff manager in 4th. We are pathetic

It’s embarrassing how our “fans” are swearing, cursing at him etc.
I get that we’re unhappy. But think of this.
Fernandes let him down today. Pogba also. And Rashford and De Gea massively.

No matter what happens next, Ole did a good job so far and doesn’t deserve the severe abuse he is getting.

And honestly ask yourselves. If YOU were the manager, would you have subbed off Bruno for VBD? Would you have taken Pogba off?

He tried, couldn’t win it. Let’s see where we go from here.

Even if he gets sacked - any fan who sends him out with abuse and cursing is frankly an absolute idiot. No matter how unhappy you are, you DON’T turn against club legends. Never. Even if you want them out.

I appreciate Ole's work and the progress.

Last year 3rd and semis.
This year 2nd and a final.

Ole deserves to be backed big on the transfer window a push on for a title challenge next season.

Doesn’t matter how much backing he gets he’s not winning the league, taken is as far as he can. Would be harsh to sack him of course but not fair to expect such a limited manager to compete with Pep.

Yeas they are good but they are not Chelsea.

And fecking hell I'm pretty sure we didn't let all our starting players do the full 120 minutes in the FA Cup final either.

Luckily he was smart enough to bring Mata on in the last minute and even then he nearly missed it. No guts to put anybody other than De Gea in goal for the pen shootout either. I'd rather have fecking Maguire in there.
It was always going to be that way.
They came to strangle the game and when it became clear after about 5 mins that the ref was playing for them I accepted our fate.
Tbh honest though, how many of their pens were saveable by anybody? I can think of 2, maybe.

I've so wanted him to do well and I've backed him up to now but I just think there will always be this mental block with trophies with Ole in charge. He will always be the bridesmaid. I fully expect to be here in a year's time saying the same thing.

Those expecting a title challenge next season have their heads in the clouds. Those calling for his sacking are also wasting their time.

Big supporter of Ole and still am but there's no doubt tonight was on him, that extra time was a disgrace.

Very good season from Solskjaer and the staff. We should have had some trophy but that is expected next year.

Dramatic and hatefull comments here after losing final doesn't change that.
That next year was last year. Or this year? I can't remember anymore because with him it is always next year

This is a good point, he was a sub yet can't seem to make the right ones. But I see it slightly differently.
He could clearly see that the opposition were posing minimal threat, so he brought on the players he deemed were best for the situation, ie, penalties,
We had 90 minutes to break them down and couldn't do it! No difference in extra time.

People are posting ole has to go. So you think these are high IQ people.
No they are all 40 IQ people. Losing to Villareal and playing so piss poor in a final should be accepted. Give him £200m we go next year for the title! Knee jerk.. Fecking hell man.

Could say that for anyone. We need £100s of millions spending to cover up our squad and management deficiencies. We're fecking lucky if we are able to spend that because anywhere else and the club is looking to improve on Ole to take them up a level, not their expensive team that can't beat 7th place Villarreal, struggle against a crap Milan, make a huge meal put of 7th place Roma etc. Add to that the CL embarrassment, getting spanked by Leicester in the cup (who were injury ravaged and still didn't break a stride).

The excuses are beyond a joke. Let's throw money at it till Ole wins something, yippee.

This is the reason why you don't hire a club legend, standards have dropped. Tonight was atrocious and any big club would have him gone. He has been here nearly 3 years adn we haven't won a trophy.

That game was lost by the 70th minute... top tier management simply can’t be just picking your best 11 players on paper and then hoping one of them does something over 120 minutes... this is huge blow

All Emery did was notice that we’re consistently shit against a low block and bad at set peices and play to that...it wasn’t a particularly special tactical gazumping.
He looked like he froze tonight. The pattern of the game became set and he wasn’t able to affect it. He didn’t even seem to try massively. It just looked really stodgy and nervy by the time extra time a came around.

Gutted for him as a trophy would've shut a lot of the naysayers up for a while at least.

Went big with the starting line up but by doing so he removed his best attacking options from the bench. Clearly we should've subbed some players for energy purposes alone but there were no match winners or game changers on the bench to affect the game so I can see why he stuck with the 11 even if I disagree with it.

To lose by the odd penalty in 20 is really harsh and not a reflection on him (nor is it a reason to jerk off to emery btw - ridiculously fortunate win)

I think he just about deserves another season, we've definitely improved and at times played really well. We're undoubtedly inconsistent though. hopefully he can have better preparation next season and a less hectic schedule allowing us to actually train. If he's serious about taking the next step and challenging for the league he needs some real statement singings though and I doubt they'll come through given the post covid world

Top 4 should be achievable, the question is how serious are we about going beyond that

Watch Chelsea win on Saturday and confirm sacking managers can give you success. Money and a good manager, none of the process nonsense.

Conte is free. Allegri is free. Give me someone who knows what he is doing. Lets not ruin another season.
He is just out of depth. Emery is not some great manager but showed how you run the game.
Sack him ffs.

Emery has won four Europa Leagues with underdogs and got the jobs at PSG and Arsenal on merit - don’t compare this professional manager to the one currently in charge of Man Utd!
