He's as obsessed with Martial as some are on this forum, and it's costing us points.

Don't forget Lindelof & De Gea too although when it comes to Martial love that fancam wally Ricky runs him close

If he still can't see Lindelof-Maguire is a problem then he is deluded. Today was a horrendous performance and he must take the blame.

Yeah I am sick to the back teeth of his obsession with Rosie & Jim

Ole is more than good enough to win the league for us with just a few additions. We’re not even far away now.

After what happened to the likes of Liverpool and Spurs yesterday, we should have been going out there and making sure we were in touching distance to City. The performance either says a lot about the character of the team, the ambition of the manager or a bit of both. At least our unbeaten away run is still on the go.

I see players like Bruno wanting to leave in a year or two if we keep Ole. He has done really well to steady the ship, all credit to him, but for players who want to win trophies, he doesn’t have the cutting edge to lead us over the finish line.

That said, the board and Woodward should also have their share of the blame, but that’s for another thread.

Rashford has been consistently bad on the right wing all season, why does Solskjaer keep on playing him out of position so Pogba or Martial can out of position on the left wing as well? Does he not realise having one player out of position is better than two? I really want Solskjaer to smash it here but how can you expect the team to be consistent when the manager keeps on making brainfart decisions that cost us, the Fred sub in the CL being the worst example out of many this season.

He simply has to go if he fails to get top 4. Maybe a trophy changes this of course but this team doesn't have it in them to win a trophy.

Interesting few months ahead.

We’re miles off being good enough to win the league.
Not really. Off the boil recently and City on an amazing run.

The thing is when I said we’d finish third last year, there was bunch of miserable nay-sayers claiming we were miles off finishing third. When we did finish third, half of those guys said we didn’t deserve it. What’s the point? What is the feckin’ point.

I will be surprised if we finish third this time around to be honest. We are hitting bad form at the opposite time of last season for starters.

Agreed.

We’ve had a really good season so far when you consider expectations at the start.

This so false. Ole hasn't proved anything. All he has proved us that he is very inconsistent. You don't win titles having some good runs followed by bad ones and this has happened since he has arrived. Until everyone realises this we will continue this way till it finally clicks the guy isn't good enough.

If you’re right, he’ll be out before too long. Like waiting for Xmas, it seems so far away and then it’s here before you know it.

Again - it’s madness that this thread explodes after literally every single game.
A manager should be judged at the end of the season. Or eventually after a very, bad run of results.
Currently we are 2nd in the league and in EL/FA.
Every single comment is pointless until a competition is over.

And by the way - in both Sheffield and Wes Brom games we got fecked by horrendous refereeing.
Last year Liverpool were shit in a lot of games but had much better luck with decisions going their way.

At the beginning of the season most people were certain we won’t even make top 4, now the same people are outraged we are not putting up a good enough title challenge.

Just let the season play out.
The overreactions are astonishing..

We’re a couple of key players away from being there. I don’t know what the big knee jerk is all about on here, we already knew this at the start of the season. We knew one of City or Liverpool would win the league, we knew they were stronger than us, we hoped we would be close behind.

A CB has to be the priority, the defensive errors are what’s letting us down and making us vulnerable. Teams know this and fancy their chances straight away, and gifting goals inside of 90s to the likes of West Brom quite rightly give them the belief they can beat us. Whatever semblance of a gameplan we have goes completely out of the window and every game becomes an uphill battle.

Why oh why did we buy Van de Beek, when we clearly aren't using him instead of two ball-winning midfielders who function as playmakers, when we are playing a team like West Brom. I get it, he hasn't shown too much yet. But he isn't a player that comes in for half an hour every now and then and immediately has a direct impact. He is a player that makes his teammates better by playing fast and moving intelligently around the field and thereby making room. That sort of impact doesn't win us games in the last minutes of a match. And that sort of impact needs to be worked into the team.

Give the man a run of games. Especially when we aren't facing the top sides. Fred, McTominay and Matic are all very static when we are on the ball. They seek the same pockets, and has a defensive mindset. If we want to break down teams that sit deep, we need to play faster, more dynamic and with much more movement. I think someone like Bruno and all of our attackers would benefit a lot from someone like Van de Beek.

As I see it, we rely way too much on individual brilliance in most matches. Especially against defensively minded teams. It doesn't look like we work continously on a system that can rattle them. We are too easy to read.

He has to stop playing DDG as he costs us too many points, if he doesn't think Dean is the answer ( he really hasn't had enough games yet) then a new GK, as you say a dominating, mobile CB. A RW, then maybe can stop trying to make AWB do what is isn't much good at.A DM who can also pass the ball, a striker who can score thirty goals, unless we think Mason can do that.

We did, but there's also Oles blame for trying to fit Martial and Rashford in the first eleven, when Martial shouldn't be nowhere near starting spot let alone taking place on the field from Rashford (who has to play on the right).

There’s no style of play. No identity. Plan A is hope Fernandes pulls something out of the bag. That’s also plan B, C and D too.

Don’t care what people say his playing career remains the biggest reason for his employment

It depends on what your expectations are for this United team. If you are happy to get top 4 every season only to bottle the Champions League when we eventually get there and maybe win the occasional cup, then sure he's doing a great job and we should extend Ole's contract. Anyone with an ounce of ambition, however, would want him out the door in the summer to be upgraded for a better coach.

It's been said many times that football is a results based business. I would largely agree with that and for this reason I would say if Ole finishes second or wins one of the two remaining cups then this represents an improvement on last season and therefore he should stay.

Outwith this we are talking gut feeling ,and gut feeling with no measurable improvement would lead me towards sacking. I don't think his team selections or game management are good enough to retain him other than top 2 finish or cup wins as previously mentioned.

I’ve said it before but there’s not very much more to learn about him as manager. I suspect the progress the team is considered to have made this season will be shown next season to have been somewhat of a red herring in an unusual season. He’s quite clearly a decent manager. The problem is that there are issues that haven’t been solved in 2 & 1/2 years or whatever and at a certain point that can only be laid at his doorstep.

We are probably 3 good players away

3 more good players won‘t change anything, why ? Because the manager has no system

We should be beating the likes of West Brom and Sheffield easily or at least create chances. We were lucky to draw today FFS and scrapped wins against average teams all season.

Correct. Also if some players would pull their fingers out of their asses, looking mostly at you martial, DeGea and lindelof
Manager is responsible for form of players. And manager's job is to pick a player, bench a player, train a player and make him better than he is. Also his job is to motivate players and his job is choosing best tactics, formation and style for team which he has.

IF it is only one player (Martial) i would agree with you maybe. But except Bruno and Shaw; who is having really good season?
Greenwood is not a shadow of player from last year.
Rashford is playing one good game and 3 bad.
McT has good run lately because of goals scored but his season in overall is average at best.
Maguire and AWb are part of defence which is doing silly mistakes all season.
Telles was average.
VdB having a mare of season
Fred plays hot and cold.
"Future superstar" Tuanzebe looks like championship player.

So to sum up; Bruno and Shaw are great, Pogba, Cavani and Rashford had some good runs in form. And that is it. So surely it is about manager, not players?

We are probably 3 good players away

We’re a good coach and 3 or 4 good signings away.

What separates us from City this season and Liverpool last year is the ability to go on those 10, 15 or 20 game runs necessary to challenge and ultimately win the League.

Whenever there’s even the slightest bit of pressure on us, ie the teams around us dropping points, we crumble and fail to capitalise.

One or two bad results throws us into a 6 or 7 game patch of bad form as well which ultimately falls on Ole’s head as he should be motivating the players to get back to winning ways.

You wonder when this will dawn on the players.

I agree that the reactions are hyperbolic in general but does the continued inability to break down low-blocks not worry you? At no point today did it ever feel like we were going to win the game.

It’s been a consistent issue in the 2 years Ole’s been here with an over-reliance on individual moments of brilliant to provide the breakthrough.

Agree that DDG needs to be demoted long term, it’s debatable whether Henderson is ready yet though. He’s been a bit shakey himself at times. DDG and his ridiculous contract are certainly a problem for us.

The contracts we hand out are ridiculous, but that won't end because we also give these out to new players to attract them to join us in the first place. We have to because they are not joining to play for Ole.

This. We need Grealish, Sancho and Upamecano to create (i am not even talking about winning) chances against Wba, SU or Palace?? Ridiculous excuse. Mourinho and Klopp are labelled as managers who make excuses all the time. Well, they are nothing comparing CAF's excuses for Ole. Excuse after excuse after excuse.....

He is not good enough, ffs!! Give Ole world's best 11 and situation would be only little better.
