This. We need Grealish, Sancho and Upamecano to create (i am not even talking about winning) chances against Wba, SU or Palace?? Ridiculous excuse. Mourinho and Klopp are labelled as managers who make excuses all the time. Well, they are nothing comparing CAF's excuses for Ole. Excuse after excuse after excuse.....

He is not good enough, ffs!! Give Ole world's best 11 and situation would be only little better.
He's going to Bayern in the summer, so think of someone else I'm afraid. Someone who doesn't realise Ole and his coaches will turn him into a defensive shambles.

He has to stop playing DDG as he costs us too many points, if he doesn't think Dean is the answer ( he really hasn't had enough games yet) then a new GK, as you say a dominating, mobile CB. A RW, then maybe can stop trying to make AWB do what is isn't much good at.A DM who can also pass the ball, a striker who can score thirty goals, unless we think Mason can do that.

So lets buy him half a fecking team

I watched 15 mins of the game. But by all means renew his contract. I’ve come to terms I’m the guy in the wrong and he just needs Varane, Ndidi, Rice, Sancho and Haaland to make this work.

So lets buy him half a fecking team
No. Let's buy someone else half a fecking team. Just got major niggling doubts about Ole. I usually like managers being loyal, but think he is being loyal to a fault. SAF kicked a lot of good players out of United without a second glance.

The contracts we hand out are ridiculous, but that won't end because we also give these out to new players to attract them to join us in the first place. We have to because they are not joining to play for Ole.

Well, that’s nonsense. We’ve been absolutely terrible with transfer fees and contracts since the LVG days. We completely obliterated our pay structure long before Ole joined. We’re still paying for that now, we made a rod for our own back.

Fantastic achievement to finish third with Manchester United that has the biggest salaries in the league.

Let’s be honest, it was Fernandes that dragged us to 3rd. It’s not like the team just suddenly clicked in our final 5 games to get over the line.

I think Ole has peaked. This is his best. He can not and won't improve the team much.
There are still few genuinely good managers available like Rose, appoint him before it is too late like Pochettino.

Again - it’s madness that this thread explodes after literally every single game.
A manager should be judged at the end of the season. Or eventually after a very, bad run of results.
Currently we are 2nd in the league and in EL/FA.
Every single comment is pointless until a competition is over.

And by the way - in both Sheffield and Wes Brom games we got fecked by horrendous refereeing.
Last year Liverpool were shit in a lot of games but had much better luck with decisions going their way.

At the beginning of the season most people were certain we won’t even make top 4, now the same people are outraged we are not putting up a good enough title challenge.

Just let the season play out.
The overreactions are astonishing..

Does this apply to praising him after good results as well ? Or only to criticism ?

LVG still had the kudos anyway, but yes I think players had already sussed that Manchester City and Chelsea were the clubs to go to if you wanted sure fire trophies. I still think if that Leicester game under LVG had not ended like that, we might have been onto something as we were playing great football.

Isn't Rose rumoured to be wanted by Dortmund?

'We won't let Man City run away with it' - Solskjaer

Yeah it's easy to say shit like that Ole. We need a bit more substance and less words.

I'm tired of the 'We go again next week' and 'We let the fans down we know we're sorry' generic vanilla statements because they get boring after 7 years.

Weak as piss.

Did he say that today? Also, quite amusing that he thinks he has any say in whether they run away with it or not.

So. We hired a manager who inherited second most expensive squad in league which finished second.
Then we bought him RB, CB, LB, MC, AMC, RW, LW AND ST for 300mil. And now we should buy him GK, CB, DM, Rw and ST too? Bloody hell.
It is like he inherited Palace squad

Weird statement. So because a lot of fans on the caf moan, they can’t point out that Klopp and Mou are a couple of moaning tw@**? Because Ole usually don’t make excuses. Apples and oranges.

Not really that is what I think we need as someone said we only need three players. Not that I think it will much difference if Ole is the manager. I could see him getting Sancho and still playing Marcus on the RW when it suits him.

3 more good players won‘t change anything, why ? Because the manager has no system

We should be beating the likes of West Brom and Sheffield easily or at least create chances. We were lucky to draw today FFS and scrapped wins against average teams all season.

This a hundred percent. It does not matter who we sign, we cannot break down teams collectively. With the players we have we should be having chance after chance against West Brom and Sheffield United.

Look how Guardiolas teams are able to carve the poor teams open, week after week.

Sacking a manager who is in second place sets a truly awful precedent.

How do you even get your head around that one? Basically you need to be first or you're sacked? Is that the message?

I get that fans are inpatient and want a proper title challenge but this team isn't good enough. Keep reading people say put Pep in charge of these players and we'd walk the league. You know why that's absolute rubbish? Because half of these players are good enough on the ball to play the Pep way. He'd sell most of them and have to start again.

Ole deserves till May and then we evaluate there. If we sack a manager sitting in 2nd spot it would truly be the most ridiculous thing we've done since hiring Moyes.

6 new pages in just a few hours, and almost every page have those same users that are on the top poster list for this thread, just parroting each other.

Was this good enough today? No of course not. But I can look at the table and think about where we thought we'd be at the start of the season. Nobody expected us to win the league this year. All things considered where we are at now in this season is pretty decent.

Martial was arguably our best player last season (with bruno just having half a season), nobody expected him to regress and vanish so much. I wanted him to start on the bench today and maybe come on if we were ahead. But I can understand the thought that he should be able to kick on vs west brom.

At least now were getting to a point in the season where they have some more time between matches to do actual training sessions to make improvements instead of more maintenance as it has been for months now with 2-3 games a week. Since they usually have the day off after a match they only ever got 1-2 days on the field before the next match, not a lot of time to work on trying new systems when the focus is also on setting them best up for the next game. I really hope we get time to do a proper pre-season before the next season starts.

When is he ever going to go in on officials for these decisions and at least give us half a chance of putting some doubt in the minds of them again, the way he just tried to laugh off Klopp bringing up the penalties we get was completely powderpuff for a club like this

This forum loves to hate itself, I'm sure of it.

Man Utd win and this thread barely hits 2-3 pages.

Man Utd draw or lose and this thread EXPLODES with all the Ole Outers coming to cast their stone his way.

Absolute joke of a fanbase.

What is it about Ole that you hate so much that you have to kick him while he's down every single time Man Utd do not win. Most of this forum expect the Man Utd of old, but that Man Utd will not exist ever again, it was a different era. I'd expect if this was a Liverpool forum, they'd be calling for Klopp to be sacked after the form they've been in! Ole is the right man to take us forward, if you cannot see that then there's no turning it around.

Funny how when United were top the excuses were it's a COVID league and Ole doesn't deserve credit and it's not real and that we were top by luck. Now Man City are top it's a case of ohhh there just that much better than us, they're gonna win the league. United could never do that under Ole! This forum LOVES to hate itself and it adores the misery of losing a game. Because when we win, there is never this much activity on the forum.

I agree that the reactions are hyperbolic in general but does the continued inability to break down low-blocks not worry you? At no point today did it ever feel like we were going to win the game.

It’s been a consistent issue in the 2 years Ole’s been here with an over-reliance on individual moments of brilliant to provide the breakthrough.

It does worry me. Seems like a lot of our players are cowards. Credit to Maguire for charging forward today. He had all the right intent, just doesn't have the pace or ability to pull it off. At the moment all our players except Bruno and occasionally Scot, refuse to take a shot unless it's in the penalty area. Today we kept passing around, everyone passing the responsibility to the next guy. This is an issue and it's up to Ole to fix it.

Does this apply to praising him after good results as well ? Or only to criticism ?

It does apply to both. Sometimes things work out, sometimes they don't.
Throughout the season we get ups and downs. At the end of the seasons we see if the ups outweigh the downs or the downs outweigh the ups.

For example - if for second year in a row we fail in all semi finals, every single praise for winning against Liverpool doesn't count for nothing.
Also if we win the cup, every single complaint after West Ham game also counts for nothing.

It's a manager thread. Not a player performing on the pitch. Managers should be judged in the long term. But hey, that's the way I see it. I'm perfectly aware I can't stop people who like to go all out with their emotions on football forums, this is how the internet works.
I'm just trying to look at things with a bit of common sense.

Agree that DDG needs to be demoted long term, it’s debatable whether Henderson is ready yet though. He’s been a bit shakey himself at times. DDG and his ridiculous contract are certainly a problem for us.
We've not exactly given Henderson a chance to play himself into form. You can't gauge him off the odd cup game. We've wasted a year of his development by keeping him here, we've done the same with players like Tuanzebe and James who should've just been either sold or sent out on loan, they'll learn nothing by never playing.

Why didn't we gave Moyes whole season? And btw, Bayern sacked Kovac 2 months after winning double and looked them now. How stupid they look, eh?

Somebody said Harry had a lot to say about the referee and VAR on MUTV. Ole has to stand up for his players, otherwise referees will just carry on making these decisions.

I think there’s too much made of this so called progress we’ve made. If anything we are pretty much performing exactly the same as last year, neck and neck with Leicester with Chelsea soon to be not far behind. The only saving grace is that Liverpool have fallen off a cliff. City have obviously taken it up a notch, we can’t compete with that.

The defence looks ten times worse this time around, whether that’s a personnel issue or due to releasing shackles somewhat in order to make the attack more functional I am not sure. Maybe a mix of both.

Anyway, just get top4 and see what happens in the summer, but I’m not banking on us getting the players we need to improve as usual.

My biggest worry is we are hitting bad form towards the end of the season, the opposite to this time last year.

It will be great if we win a trophy, the F.A. Cup is only good if we get Top 4, ideally you would want to win the EL as that guarantees CL and being in the Pot 1. Arsenal and Spurs will have the same idea as they are even less guaranteed a Top 4 finish.

Not sure this is the season to be able to judge progress.

Thank god we didn’t go PSG and give him a new contract. He’d be coming out in April saying he‘ll be successful and some of these man want be here.

It is like he inherited Palace squad

He inherited a largely rubbish, overpaid squad that were completely and utterly bereft of confidence and were languishing near mid-table, and finished 20 odd points behind the league leaders the season before, while playing awful, pragmatic football. We’ve shipped out many from that squad, but apparently many isn’t enough.

Because going from Champions to wherever Moyes took us (7th was it?) is massively underperforming. Same with Bayern in a league they should cruise every season, no excuse.

Is currently 2nd in the league underperforming with what he's got? Did you expect to be higher at this point?

So you think we should sack him right now or in the morning? Is that what you'd do if it was you in charge?

Amazing that Chelsea went and got a good manager and could be 4 points behind us if they beat Newcastle.

Tuanzebe and James are squad players, there for us if and when we need them. For every Henderson where “he needs to play himself into form”, there’s a Martial for which Ole gets consistently criticised for playing.

Sacking a manager who is in second place sets a truly awful precedent.

Nothing wrong with that at all. It shows that a club understands football deeper than just the final result. It wants first place and looks at the manager thinking "You've done well, but are you good enough to take that extra step". And it can decide he's not good enough and look to upgrade him rather than just be passive and wait & see.

The form seems to go in waves since OGS has been in charge. Title winning form over a a few months, then relagation form for another couple of months, or vice versa. This season has been the same with a very poor start (after a great run at the end of last season), having us around 15th, then a fantastic run taking us to the summit. Now we’re on another awful run that hopefully doesn’t continue but the players don’t look great at this time. There’s no way we don’t beat Newcastle, surely. Then it’s two big games vs Chelsea and City so who knows where we’ll be in a month. It’s very tight.

I really hope we finish the league season strongly as if we miss out on top 4 after being top in January I can see it all going pear shaped for OGS. The players and fans can only take so many false dawns before people start to think its just not working. We’ll know more in 6 games time, so let’s see where we are.

How about hiring a manager based on 8 games?
