I hear you but I think that was the wrong mindset by us. This Spurs is no better than Sheffield. We gave them too much respect...It would have been harder being at Spurs ground but we could have easily made them look like Sheffield today.. let’s be honest they wasn’t going to attack us was they.
I know what you mean, and I'd love to see us just put our best team out and attack, too, but I got why we played it more cautiously. The amount of muscle injuries players are getting since returning is no joke, and we don't want to risk losing one of our better players again. Especially when - for the first time this season - they're all actually fit at the same time.

Like, I would've loved to see Pogba play the full 90, but we've already rushed him back and he's reinjured himself twice this season, so I did agree with Ole to play it on the safe side. Thankfully, we reaped the rewards from that decision today!

  • 13 games in a row unbeaten(9W,4D)
  • 33 goals scored.
  • 3 goals conceded.
  • 10 clean sheets.
  • The run contains matches against City(twice), Chelsea, Tottenham, Wolves and Sheffield.
  • Pogba and Rashford were only available for 2 out of these 13 games.

Can we just accept that he's doing a good job despite his unremarkable management CV.

Think of where we were in Jose's last few months, and the atmosphere around the club. This team right now is fantastic and exciting to watch, full of young homegrown talent, this is what Man Utd is all about and Ole gets it. I'm really looking forward to every game we play again, for what feels like the first time in so many years. Gonna give the bloke some credit for this.

I'd be feeling far safer if he got last 20 minutes rest so that he can start against Norwich. They are one of the teams that tene to sit deep against stronger sides.
We have Brighton only 3 days after Norwich, so I actually expect to see a lot of players rested against a Norwich side that are struggling for their life in their league. I could be wrong of course, but I hope Fred and McTominay are picked for this one, and that the midfield today are being rested. I believe we are allowed 5 subs also in the cup games, so we can always bring on our best men if needed.

That’s an amazing set of stats. Need to keep the form up though and make sure we’re make the UCL.

Bailly; Romero; Williams and Chong best start. The rotation is key. We need top 4.

All about how he wraps up the season. Tonight was one of the team's best performances under him, looked really composed and confident. Doesn't hurt having more than one or two players with technical ability and thoughtful passing. Promising.

I don't know whether he will help us reach to the top or not but one thing for sure he will leave the squad in a better shape than jose or lvg left for their successor.

Perhaps one of his most important contributions to our attack was to move Rashford on the left and Martial through the center.

Perhaps all he needed was a talented set of players who are able to show their talent, as he allows a lot of creativity and expression

Looking at the condition of the team, I'd expect us to win that 2 trophies.

No excuses, I want those trophies.

Brilliant form. It feels like some real momentum at long last.

Europa and FA cup are a real possibility at this point. I think we'll get one of them.

I agree, he's doing a good job. I'm still not 100% convinced he's a manager who can win the league, but there's a lot to like. He's stabilised the club and genuinely appears to be changing the culture. Given the place we're in right now, he's the perfect manager for us.

My fear is we get in a position where he gets us into a position where we're consistently in the top 4, but not really challenging for the league. What do we do then? Stick with stability or take a chance one someone we think could take us to the next level? Could be a real conundrum.

For now though, I think he's doing as well as you could realistically expect.

If we got 6 points which we should have done. We would have been on level points With Chelsea right now.

Just saying.
Spurs away is not equivalent to Sheffield at home. There was no guarantee starting pogba would have fetched 3 points. He was coming back after a long lay off so it wasn't that bad of a decision to bring him on as a sub. Not starting matic probably was a bigger mistake but then Mctominay always performs like a beast in big games so again not a bad call.
I agree with @Mainoldo.

I even said this before the game, it was important to start Pogba against Spurs.

We could have replaced him in the second half after having taken a potential lead. With all the substitutions we’re now allowed, we should have started stronger.

It was clearly evident from his effort for the goal what we had been missing in the game. Hence, I’m of the opinion we should’ve started him, taken him off after a half or 60 mins if we had taken a lead and play it safe to close the game from there on out.

We left it very late to even get a draw which in my opinion was risky business. Considering Spurs’ form, we should have bombarded them in the first half how we bombarded Sheffield in the first half. Specially since Mourinho literally came to park the bus and we enjoyed so much possession. With Bruno & Pogba starting, they wouldn’t have been able to sustain our pressure for too long before conceding a goal or two in the first half.

I actually agree with him on aiming for third spot. I’m not saying is a guarantee, but I feel like Leicester can be caught. I think us and Chelsea will make the top four come the end of the season.

We’ve finally got ourselves a fun team assembled. I like the direction that things are going. Get a proper RW in for next season, a new midfielder to complement Bruno and Pogba, and who knows?

Spurs are crap we should have beat them. As our best XI proved today. Spurs will never play like that under Mr you know who.

That was our problem too we set up like it was a big game. It wasn’t a big game.

we gave spurs a goal start(just like Everton away)because of silly school boy errors and should have had 6 points from both those games.

Oles not perfect and his in game management needs to improve but we where set up fine against spurs(should have been two goals up before they scored)

I've been impressed with Ole. I'm not going to get giddy because everything seems to go to shit when I do but I've liked what I'm seeing lately.

While Sheffield United weren't much chop, Manchester United could only beat what was in front of them and they did so impressively. I haven't seen every game United have player under Solskjaer but their performance yesterday was somewhat reminiscent of their play in Solskjaer's first few games as caretaker.

I think a strong finish to this season is key for us going into next season, as there's only 3 weeks between this season finishing and the new one starting. Plus we have the EL sandwiched in between, so rotation is key and I think we'll see that this weekend vs Norwich.

I find it interesting how quickly this thread grows after we drop points ... and how slowly it grows after a convincing performance. Pretty pathetic.

The likes of @SS , @RedDevilRoshi , @Majima were in here pretty quickly after the game against Spurs, but when they've nothing negative to say after a convincing victory over a rival, no sign.

Hats off to @Samid , @Paul_Scholes18 - both were also quickly here after Spurs, both were again quickly here last night.

If you're going to knock Ole so quickly, at least give him praise when he deserves it. He's doing well.

Yeah, let's not allow facts to taint any arguments. Ole is clueless.

Said as much after the game as well, and there's more than a few others you could have added to that list. Pathetic people, the worst type of 'fan'.

Though, on @Samid, as far as I'm aware has always been pretty fair to Ole, any criticism he's given has been fair and even handed and has tended to praise him when it's been due.

3 goals conceded are from 3 goal keeping blunders.

If we qualify for next seasons CL and if we keep playing like this, then obviously the managers future isn’t even in doubt. Our aim should be to win the next 6 league games...The next 6 games are winnable...Chelsea have to play City,Liverpool and Wolves until the end of the season. If we don’t drop silly points,I can easily see us finishing above Chelsea...We desperately need CL football for next season...

Had a fairly easy cup run apart from the City games which did see us get knocked out of the league cup.
In the league we got 4,3,0 which is good. Hope we can keep that form up.

But the issue was never the big or tough games, was it? So, which is it? Either way you look at it, there's been a great improvement.

Yeah, anyone who looks at those stats and isn't impressed surely has an agenda.

It's a nice mix of games: 6 tough, 4-5 "easy", the rest somewhere in between. The fact that Pogba and Rashford were unavailable for 11 out of 13 makes it even more impressive.

He's certainly turned a corner in recent times. If it hadn't been for the temporary stoppage of football, I think we would have gotten 6 points from the last two games as opposed to four.

No idea what those other posters said but if it was anything along the lines of my post, then this is pure nonsense. My sole issue was with how long he took to make substitutions and my only other post in this thread is this:

Shocked to see so many wanting him gone. If Poch becomes available, I'd consider it, but really we should back him after the first half of his tenure here. It's gone to shit, but there have been contributing factors like personnel and fitness that are out of Ole's control.

So why are you making it out like I'm regularly in here screaming for Ole's head?

"Pathetic"? Feck off.

We're currently on our 2nd longest unbeaten run since Sir Alex retired.

Our "shite defense" also has the highest number of clean sheets in any unbeaten run in that time, only conceding 3 goals.

In the league we have struggled against the weaker sides, but not so much in the cups.
We have improved clearly since the winterbreak. That came at the right time.

I think you're out of order. I don't need to answer to you. I haven't posted in any of the player threads either, apart from Martial's, that must mean i have something against them too?

Starting both McTominay & Fred deep away against a Jose team, with Matic & Pogba on the bench is almost criminal. Same old build up problems we've seen with Pogba now with Bruno... Subs 15 mins too late.

I expected much more creativity and confidence on the ball from the team. Pretty rubbish today i thought.
My biggest frustrations with today's match is, why did he repeat the very same mistakes with Bruno we've seen with Pogba countless times (no-one able to create from deep, leaving him isolated) away against a bus parking Jose too? I get the comment about energy but we clearly needed more than that today.

I was expecting to see a fluid midfield, that can't be neutered by man marking one player out of the game (which is what happened). Is that too much to ask for?
What was wrong with those comments vs Spurs exactly?

I think yesterday's performance was hand's down the best performance i have seen from a Utd side since SAF was here. I couldn't be happier with Ole because of it. I am very happy to see that Matic, Pogba & Bruno has the makings of a great midfield for us. I am ecstatic to see Martial's progress with him this season. I haven't seen him happy like that since LVG was here. That's credit to Ole's man management. The quick sharp interplay between the front 5 was mouthwatering to see. I only hope to see that kind of performance more and we kick on now, as the results have not been good enough this season, it has to be said.

Wasn't Jose's "unbeaten" run littered with a load of draws?

I wonder what the breakdown of those 17 games looks like, I'd be confident that at least 8 were draws.

Yeah, win percentage should definitely be a column. And then there's the information behind the stats: who were the opponents? Did we play with a fully fit squad? How many of the goals conceded were "freak goals"/goalkeeper errors?

Going 13 games unbeaten isn't all that impressive. It's all the additional information that makes the current run so great.
