Old Trafford could be bulldozed and rebuilt under plans by Manchester United owners the Glazers
If club did do a full rebuild, one of the biggest headaches centres around where United would play home matches while work is carried out

Meanwhile a shaggy dog has been seen walking around the area carrying a tin of paint.

If glazers choose to demolish and rebuild, means they are here for the long term.

Fair enough. I’m all for a new stadium if it’s on the same site and is still called Old Trafford and not some stupid sponsorship name.

In many ways an entirely new stadium would be very appealing. I have been in the Spurs ground and a couple of the newer NFL stadiums and they offer a pretty fantastic experience.

But that's a lot of history to just throw away and I'm sure there would be a lot of opposition

I wish the Glazers cared enough to build a new stadium, but they don't.

Whichever route allows for the cheapest, most superficial revamp is the one we'll get.

All the Glazers will be dead before ever rebuilding Old Trafford, they could not give a toss, they haven’t even visited in years. They will do the most minimum option possible, cmon

As if they care enough to finance a full rebuild.

I think we know which one of those three would be top of the list

Personally, I feel more open to it than I ever have previously, but I wouldn’t trust them not to mess it up anyway.

Some Gullible suckers will lap this up and actually believe them.

Would bet my house that they don’t re-build even one stand. This is the tactic they do for years, always drop stories about ‘considering’ or ‘planning’. People who actually do stuff just do it, they don’t talk about it for years or wait for a riot in their stadium. They are con artists of the highest level, hence their leveraged buyout and sale of shares ever since.

There's not a hope in hell they knock it down and rebuild it. It cost spurs around a billion for their stadium, and unlike spurs, we can't easily move to another ground down the road which has 90k seats and is sat empty.

I would expect them to only perform renovation of what is already there. I doubt that we see any sweeping changes or rebuilding of the South stand. I do like the idea of a smaller stadium being built on the main stadium site for academy and womens teams to play at - much better than them, playing elsewhere.

Would be fine with that but as long as the new stadium has a bit of soul to it, rather than one of those generic fish bowls. OT is arguably the most recognizable stadium in football, would be a shame to lose any of the uniqueness.

I've never been but the general impression I get from fans that do go and go to other large football stadiums is that it's not really up to scratch.

If they reckon they can find the money for the investment and that it will increase the value of the club more than it will cost then I don't see why they wouldn't do it.

If they rebuilt it on the same ground and kept the name, i think the history can stay intact. same as Real Madrid did. Old Trafford is far behind most stadiums nowadays isnt it?

well you can absolutely forget about that.

it will be called the Heinz Meatball Old Trafford if Heinz pay enough etc etc

Agree with all of this.

Honestly, it should be rebuilt stand by stand. As a ground its starting to look and feel very tired. However, closing entire stands for long periods to allow them to be rebuilt will probably be unthinkable to the ownership.

All that being said it'd be nice to see our women and youth set up have a real stadium to play in.

Honestly it's fine, yes it's not as fancy as other stadiums but it's not derelict. Saying that whenever I do go it tends to be in the South stand not far from the Stretford End so there could be some really bad parts that I'm just not aware of.

A new stadium would be good because while OT isn't necessarily a shit hole, I don't think it reflects our status as a club given our history.

Eventually the stadium will need to be rebuild, but it all depends on how much it would cost to put a band-aid on the current stadium and push the rebuild 10 years down the road.

We can't do the South Stand... where would the cranes go??? It's either an overhaul without an extended South Stand or a Spurs style rebuild. Both sound great but I doubt they'll happen.

The price of steel and construction materials in general is skyrocketing. There is zero chance the Glazers will build a new stadium. A 90,000 seater new build would cost billions in this economic climate. Just not happening.

2 years at Wembley it is then ;)

I'm 20 mins away so could be marvellous.

They'll probably get huge loans. American banks seem to like financing these projects. So I've been told.
