Old Trafford extension

Great find on the pictures

Not really, I frequently post on a site that is about new developments in Manchester, and has a lot of ameteur photographers running around all day taking shots of the city. As I live abroad, it's a nice way for me to keep track of what is going on in my city.

Some of the pictures earlier in the thread I took myself a month ago.

Is that Fredthenobend hanging from the crane?

It makes me laugh, you have pages upon pages of FC United an tranfer talk crap, yet this, the most important thing to happen to our stadium in 10 years, and very few of you are interested. And a load of those so called "local" supporters who go past the place at least once a wekk could easily take an interest, even post some pics, do they?

No, they would rather ask us all to boycot the Champions League qualifier after not gaining success in asking UEFA to chuck us out. fecking hell, I don't even live in the country, but at least I've posted some pictures of this, and get pictures to you.

I went out of my way to get some photos and I wont even be there next season

He's probably protesting in his delightful little way, and will blame the police for brutality for bringing him down. I'd get a gun and stick a bed of nails underneath the cnut.

You even paid to get in?

Glazer will be happy. ;)

Checked the place out yesterday, Weastey. Taking shape. Ended up in the middle of Chorlton some how.....then thought feck it, I'll drive past Mecca.

It's friggin hot and humid. Just been to the gym.......and I feel faint..also have a mild headache. No pain, no gain - BULLSHIT.

Viva la revolution.

It is hot mate, I'm really not liking it. I'll be glad getting back home TBH. It might be hitting 40 degrees at times there ATM, but it's this fecking humidity here I can't stand. No breeze, it's awful! I can't bloody well sleep at night, and as it's here I can't stick the air conditioning on because there is none.

Bloody UK houses and there mad infactuation with gas central heating, not much bloody use right now is it?

Our houses are made for the cold mate. Heavy bricks and insulation help keep the heat in. Spain and other hot countries are catered for the heat...... but sometimes it feels a lot colder in those houses in winter than it does over here!

Couple of years ago it got upto 33c in Manchester.......... reckon it's been upto 30 deffo. But like you said, it's the humidity that kills you. Especially when you're in the gym.

Any well constucted house should keep it cool in the summer and warmish in the winter. In my house here in Salford I never need to turn the CH on at all, it's cheaper to put the two gas fires on at their very lowest temps in the two living rooms downstairs and let them heat the house. It's never cold in this house in the winter. It has nothing to do with heat, it's the humidity that bothers me, it's as bad in the street, there is no air movement. We must be under an anticyclone.

Tell your Gym to install aircon!

You ultrafit cnut! ;)

Fit I am not, Weastey. I'm above average(need to start cardio).......but strong....yes, I am. ;)

As for aircon. We're tough Weastey. Mancs and aircons whilst training? you've gone soft in Spain! and it's not really a proper gym.... I've converted my garage into one. Three of us train there. Got the lot, even a speedball and a running machine(not that I use it). Also a poster of Ali on the wall..just to lift you when you're training.

TBH, Weastey, not so keen on CH. It's fake heat...and feels horrible. Always prefer things on the cool side. Must be the hot blood in me.

feck....not only was it hot and humid.....but I had the radio on....then on comes Careless Whisper. Man, that really killed me. Try motivating yourself when you're rock bottom, and that gets played. Killed me, mate.........George Micheal killed me. I feel like suing him... the poof.

I've been meaning to pop down there and take some pictures for a while now, might even book myself on the tour just to get some internal shots though i don't think much will have changed since the earlier pics? Would be interested to see if the Stretty banners are back up or if they're gone for good?

How do i get photo's onto the forum? (I know how to attach photo's of the web and stuff but not from my digital camera)....any help please?:wenger:

Didn't go today, weather wasn't so good, let's see how it is tomorrow.

mufc1878, get them onto your computer then upload them to a site like this http://www.imagehigh.com/ and then link them as normal.

looks even stranger where the stands connect. the top of the roof is gone, the roof right above the seats in the corner is gone, but hte sides of the stands still come down and touch..

I know, weird isn't it? They say that there will be hardly any loss of seating for the coming season, so they are intending to use the existing corners this season. I think therefore that the sides of the stands will be removed near completion so that people can't get onto the new seats during construction. However, unless they get a serious move on, there are going to be a lot of very wet people sitting in those two corners for the coming season.

So obviously, the first thing they've got to do is put up the new roof, and they have got 35 days to do it. It's possible, but I can't see it myself.

i would have thought the roof would go on at the end? Trying to remember what happened when they built the North Stand...i'm sure all the stand was built before the tubular roof support stuff was built and then the roof clad. I remember everyone getting wet for a long time

They did it that way to let in as much light as possible. The goal ends were done different, I think.

the roof won't go on till the steelwork and core is fully done, and thats ages off yet...

if I were building it, the roof would be the last thing on...

bring back those plastic macs they used to have...

Check out the Debrecen game tomorrow.

True. Won't be able to see much during the match, but I'm sure they'll show it at the beginning, along with some suitable hyperbola. They might even get Big Andy to talk about steelwork and the core.

I'll take some pics...

You know about these things Andy, how long until it starts to properly take shape and give us an idea how it'll look?
For some reason all the artist's impressions of the inside just look really badly photoshopped (see above). I hope the architects have made better drawings...

the Architects are AFL...they do all the work for Liverpool too...

it'll be a while yet, once the concrete decking goes on you'll see how its going to look...won't be til the end of the season that it starts to take shape though I reckon...due for full completion in August 2006...

Looks naff.

I've found a computer render of the inside.

It's just as bad. Shitty effort by the architects.

I'm interested to see how the 2nd tiers line through with the third tier...if it'll blend through or just cut off like the council house...

The corners will be a split by a row of exec boxes. The stadium will look like a mess. None of it will match up.

I've just checked AFL's and Laing O'Rourke's websites and found feck all...

Some website, I found on google.

It's the wire frame computer render. I could've lied and said I know the architects. . . but I'm too honest.

Shit isn't it.(the extension)

I can't really tell what you can make out from that - I reckon it looks a bit flimsy though, they ought to put some concrete surfaces in and maybe some seats too.

It won't match up put it that way. I'm a bit gutted actually. It's going to be one ugly stadium.

Yeah, I remember the row of boxes from architects plan thingys posted ages ago. What none of it shows properly though, is how it joins up with the existing stands, particularly the North3, although it seems pretty cert that will just come to a sudden end.
That wireframe looks like the "wall" at the end of the N3 (or the Stretty, depending on which corner that is) will still be there, which must be bollocks - people at the back left (as we look at the picture) would be able to see feck all, except one of the goals.

The Stretford and K second tiers are slightly taller than the second tier of the North Stand, the corners I think will be as high. It really is a strange design. Surely looks are important?

Funny, actually - this is the one I was talking about, and it looks like the boxes will just come round at the same level as all the other splits between tiers, whereas the wireframe loks different to me:
