If Jose's first act is to extend Cack's contract and let Mata and Blind go then there is no doubt in my mind... Mourinho is insane.

For me, he's already taken away all of the negativity surrounding last season. Just can't wait for next season to start.

I just read an article in El Confidencial about a meeting Woodward-Mourinho and players that he doesn´t want. I don´t know if this is already known or not but more or less say that he doesn´t want Mata, Herrera, Schweinsteiger,Fellaini and Young. About Carrick, they say that they have a pending conversation -because of his relevance/ancestry in the dressing room and in the club- to decide his immediate future , pointing far from Manchester.
Varela, Darmian and Depay are also in the list. They don´t know the destination of Shaw, who could be loaned.
They continue writing that in the exits will influence the financial fair play and there are players who can also thicken the blacklist of Mou, as in the case of Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo and Antonio Valencia .
"Jose Mourinho likes the qualities of De Gea , which he considers one of the best goalkeepers in the world , hence the Portuguese has declared him untransferable in closed doors/private, although is aware of the special situation suffered by the Spanish goalkeeper, as well as the fact that Real Madrid are indebted to him and will try to take it in exchange for Keylor Navas , an operation that should have been done a year earlier"
"It has also been speculated these days about the signing of Alvaro Morata for Manchester United. The environment/circle of Mourinho has denied this hypothesis . The new Manchester United manager believes that his new club should focus its energies on strengthening the midfield and the defensive part of the team, that last season gave too many headaches ."

The Shaw part is definitely bullshit. Mourinho wanted him at Chelsea.

That article looks like a lazy guesstimate based on conventional wisdom. I doubt they have genuine sources at all, albeit we are talking about Mendes here, so anything is possible.

We've no worries over FFP. I call BS at this article.
According to this article, we're looking to sell off 11 players which would be ridiculous considering the fact that LvG already thinned our squad last season.

Terrible article  Shaw is one of our best players and we got nothing to worry about with regards to the FFP..

Find that hard to believe given the state of our attack.

Yep, the article seems based to be based on popular sentiment, as opposed to real ITK information. Loaning Luke Shaw in particular seems out of the realm of possibility at United. Selling that many players in one go would be overkill given some of our injury issues, and the fact that the squad is already quite thin in the context of a full league season preceded by the European Championship/ Copa América/ Olympics. Reckon he'll employ his Chelsea II template at United. Try to resolve the fundamental issues in his first transfer window while retaining the bulk of current squad, maybe add an opportunistic player in January to steady the ship further (Matić), and then sprinkle the squad with top quality to (hopefully) provide a boost in Europe (Costa, Fàbregas, Luís) - whilst letting go of players who didn't impress him in the first season, or started fading with age. Though maybe in United's case - it'll be fast-tracked because of the time he reportedly had to assess the squad from afar.

This old video makes for interesting viewing:

Dramatic overhaul of the squad in less than 2 seasons. The critical part after that will be adding more top players to push the squad further (which is something that Chelsea failed to do as a club). Because he always wins the league in his second season, so a careful rejig avoids complacency/ stagnation, apart from improving the overall quality of the selection.

Absolute comedy gold. Yeah we'll just magically sell or loan out 12 players and find upgrades for them all.

Must have been written by a Spanish Neil Custis.

This. Especially the Shaw part, as if we'd loan out a (very good) £30m left back. You could maybe believe he might sell him (very doubtful) but why the feck would he loan him out?

Good post. And a reminder of what Neville is good at.

But his predictions are all wrong

  • Player available in Bale, nope Chelsea didn't get him nor did City or United
  • Will have to bring the youth players through, nope didn't happen
  • The rest of the league could be in trouble for the coming 3 years, nope Chelsea are the ones in trouble

With that much info I can only conclude that meeting must have been held in El Confidencial's office and all their staff were present?

His predictions were based on 'its' which didn't happen. He was saying 'if' Chelsea get Bale and move Hazard inside, and 'if' they get a brilliant partner for Terry. He was right with what he said, it just didn't come to fruition.

Chelsea's front office fecked up. they decided to only add Pedro to an aging squad that ran on fumes to win the league. not a single Jose target was signed.

With no Perez to protect star players and demand game time for them, and with no Roman breathing down his neck for instant pragmatic results, Mourinho will have a lot of control at United. This will be reflected in his signings - he will finally get players that HE wants.
I hope this freedom and control ensures he makes the effort to stick to attacking football and playing youth, too.

He can sign and sell whoever the feck he likes.
Except Rashford, Martial, Smalling, DDG, Shaw or BFS, of course. :P

It is a bit silly

Neville really didn't make any interesting points in that Chelsea review, yes Mourinho signed alot of new players, yes he did a good job because he won the PL, yes obviously adding Bale to it would even make it better. He is just stating the obvious and being a gigantic transfer muppet.

Transfer forum is full people making the same reviews about United or other teams and trying to predict signings and lineups. Nevilles thing wasn't any better than that but because he is a retired top player his muppetry gets broadcasted on Sky and people call him a great pundit because of it.

Loaning Shaw isn't that farfetched. He's just back from a major injury and is still super young. We may not like it, but it doesn't seem such a crazy notion.

That being said, I doubt it will happen. Most of the players listed there lots of people on the cafe complained about all season.

Shaw is by far and away our best LB. coming back from injury doesn't mean anything.

You'd have to be mad to think he could get loaned out. Also I think he's played 3 full seasons in the PL now so he's an experienced player

Loaning Shaw would be daft, he's one of our best players and we sorely missed him last season. If he was to be loaned out, where would he go anyway?

Its a similar pattern for jose at chelsea, in summer 2007 his summer signings were very underwhelming, summer 2015 almost the exact duplicate of transfer activity, and what happened during both summers going into the season? jose did not last the rest of the year. We be hoping under this board, jose has no roman, or perez to fight with, which hopefully means he has a right good go at making the job a success. Because this maybe one of the few times Mourinho will have total freedom of the job, which in theory means it will be succesful, but we will see

It's a ridiculous notion. You don't loan out the World's most expensive left back after an injury, you simply cannot risk his rehab being in the hands of a lesser club and medical/physio team. It's complete utter drivel.

United will want full control of one of our best players return from such a serious injury.

Did he ever actually confirm he'd pulled out of Soccer Aid?

It is  Behave!

It's beyond crazy.

Not only did we spend almost £30m on him but he was developing very very well until his injury. Throw in the fact that Mourinho courted him at Chelsea and our backup left backs are Rojo and Bojack and it's the most absurd suggestion going.
