With no Perez to protect star players and demand game time for them, and with no Roman breathing down his neck for instant pragmatic results, Mourinho will have a lot of control at United. This will be reflected in his signings - he will finally get players that HE wants.
I hope this freedom and control ensures he makes the effort to stick to attacking football and playing youth, too.

He can sign and sell whoever the feck he likes.
Except Rashford, Martial, Smalling, DDG, Shaw or BFS, of course. :P
I think the board has forced our two post Fergie managers to play Rooney at any cost. He's a marketing commodity for the club and wasn't allowed to leave.

I just read that 13 players are on their way out - Mata, Herrera, Depay, Schweinsteiger, Fellaini, Young, Carrick, Varela, Rojo, Romero, Darmian, Valencia, Shaw.

And I wonder why Blind ain't on that list.

Because he was one of our best performers last season

I've been on me jollies the past week and spoke to a few United fans. Not one of them thinks Mourinhio is a good move. I even met a lad on the train coming home and he thinks a City fan is calling the shots at Old Trafford these days.

Time will tell.

PS. Just stuck a few quid on Rashford to be Englands top goal scorer at 10/1.

If / when Sturridge gets injured it makes sense as I cant see the goals coming from midfield.

I've been on RAWK 24/7 all past week and spoke to a few jobless people posing as United fans. Not one of them wants to admit that Mourinhio is a good move. I even met a lad on the train coming home and he prays every night that a City fan is calling the shots at Old Trafford these days.

Time will tell.

Corrected :)

Kane?

Why on earth would be want to get rid of Shaw? Neither do I believe he will be in a rush to push Valencia out.

A lot of the others on the list may not be in his longer term plans. But surely the likes of Herrera, Darmian and Carrick will be around next season. I reckon Memphis will get another season as well.

As for the others, I can imagine they are not in his longer term plans but exactly who goes may depend on who we get offers for.

If Shaw goes then it's Mourinho Out!
It's a ridiculous list. It leaves us with no RB's, next to no midfield. CBJ the only LB. Also we still have Wilson, Blackett, Powell to deal with, two of whom are definitely not good enough. I think he will send a pile of kids out on loan as is his habit. Then 4 players to come in. Bringing in too many will cause more problems than it will solve. A change of philosophy, the dreaded word, is what was needed. Also we would need another backup goalie.

The fact, as has just been mentioned, Carrick is on the list, despite us supposedly getting him to sign a new one year contract makes it bullshit.

If he got rid of Shaw then it'd start him of on a bad footing with the supporters and would only exacerbate fears that he doesn't care for some of the younger players.

I don't think this is the case. If the manager wanted, he could bench Rooney.

Moyes - under Moyes, Rooney was one of our better players. He'd just signed a new contact for big wages. There was no reason for Moyes to bench him.
LVG - By this time, Rooney was past his best and was a liability for most of the season. He had about 10 good games during the season. LVG was not forced to play him, but it was LVG's own rigid philosophy which states, "My captain shall always play".

If a big name manager comes in and feels Rooney sucks, he can be benched/sold.
If Ibra comes in, Rooney probably won't play as a striker, because eventually Jose or Ibra (or both), will call him out for being crap. Jose did this with Torres, claiming that Chelsea had no strikers (implying that Torres was not a striker).
I think Rooney's best position will be on the bench or as a midfielder.

Jose is here to win. That's what he does. He is not here to make Rashford, Rooney or any other player look good. And Woodward knew this, when he was signing Jose.
