Nuri Sahin

I was just questioning his reason but if you want unquestioning loyalty its no wonder hearts and minds campaign isnt working out too great.

Nobody is questioning your loyalty. Fergie's logic of what he wants to do with the squad may be completely different than what the "we need a midfielder" brigade, are thinking. Therefore if we buy one then great. If not, then he obviously thinks he already has the players he needs to proceed.

Well time will tell. We don't have anymore ex players to call out of retirement if we get into trouble this time around.

Yes we do. Keano is doing nothing at the moment, and Robbo is already at the club.

David May might even fancy a game in midfield.

Fair enough.

Must be me getting ready for the new season.

If he isn't buying does that mean petrucci and Powell will be in the first team?

Carrick one of United key players and perhaps one of its most underrated.

He will need to rest from time to time so just need to rejig the formation / tactics when he's not playing.

Marca reporting Fergie's interested, but only in " keeping him for as long as he wants".

FLORENTINO PREFERS TO LOAN HIM OUT FOR A SEASON
Ferguson wants Sahin on a permanent basis

Nuri Sahin is set to leave Real Madrid in the next few days, but his destination is yet unknown. Most of the interest in the Turk has come from the Premier League, the player's favoured destination, but finalising the deal won't be easy.

The latest team to show its interest in Sahin is Manchester United, a club that interests the player, but whose offer clashes with Real Madrid's interests. Madrid wants to loan Sahin out for a season or, as a worst case scenario sell him with a buy-back option. However, United doesn't think along these lines. Ferguson wants the player and won't consider anything other than signing him and keeping him for as long as he wants.

Florentino Pérez was one of the main advocates of the Turk's transfer to Real Madrid and he doesn't want to part with the player because he has high hopes for him. Mourinho also values Sahin's strengths, but after being out for the whole of last season, he thinks it better for the player to find his form at another club.

Another two Premier League clubs want Sahin. One is Arsenal, the club best placed to sign him. Personal terms between Sahin and Wenger's team have almost been finalised, but the clubs have yet to agree the terms of the transfer. Tottenham is also interested in Sahin, but Real Madrid wanted to include him in the deal for Modric, whilst the Londoners want to keep the two deals separate.

Can't Madrid just throw us a fecking bone or something? We've given them Ronaldo, Van Nistelrooy, Beckham and Heinze, yet they can't even let us buy Sahin? Wankers.

That's if we're even in for him, mind. Could just be a load of bollocks as usual.

Why are Arsenal in for Sahin? They have plenty in the centre mid already

No sign of this story on their regular Spanish site. Are they just fishing for page views?

Love to see him here but if the stuff about Fergie is true then it's the right call as this loan/buy back bullshit is just that.

The thing I don't get is wasn't he going to be a makeweight in the Modric deal and not a loan? So Real seem willing to let him go if it suits them, maybe they just need the right offer.

Mourinho has now claimed that should he want, the 23-year-old can leave the Spanish giants this month.

"The point is, he's a young boy, he wants to play every match," said the Portuguese. "He wants to play to be happy, and in Real Madrid with Xabi Alonso, with [Sami] Khedira, with Lassana [Diarra], [Esteban] Granero, [Mesut] Ozil, the situation is not easy.

"Real Madrid is very difficult. It is not an easy club, because we demand a lot. We have great players, and when you don't start well, it is difficult to do it.

"If he stays, he's not a problem for me, he's one more solution. We leave [the situation] in his hands. Be happy.

"Decide what you want to decide, to be happy. If you decide to leave we are going to help you to leave. If you decide to stay, we are going to support you and try to succeed this season."
...

In short, we are not arsed whether you go.
Someone will have a gem of a player at a bargain price next season.

Eh? How did you work any of that out from Mourinho's quotes?

He's giving the distinct impression he won't get in the way of a permanent transfer this summer. Bearing in mind the (alleged) interest of at least three English clubs and however many other clubs on the continent why on earth would Madrid sell him at a bargain price?

He did not get that from Mou's quote, hence he put it on a new line.

Or so it seems to me.

Rumours are that Arsenal are trying to agree a one year loan agreement.

I am just dumfounded as to why we cannot do the same?

Is SAF just not interested in midfielders? What do we lose by getting him on a loan?

Maybe a gentleman agreement to get RVP

Ok so he is certainly available. I think if we really are interested, Fergie would give Jose a tinkle as they seem to be on good terms. I suspect though, that we're not in for Sahin. He'd be a great option for us though IMO.

I would be amazed why we would not be though?

We persist with using park / rafael as make shift midfielders, this kid is a brilliant player; fergie does confuse me sometimes.

We are short in quality numbers, and a top young player comes available, we should definitely be interested.

Especially with Kagawa here now, thats even more reason he would want to come over.

He'd really fit the bill - young, creative, probably not very expensive. Even if he doesn't make it here for some reason we could probably sell him for a similar amount in a couple of years. It's a really low risk transfer.

We won't be in for him though.

The one glaring reason I thought Fergie's reluctance to buy a central midfielder was to allow our reserve prospects develop and grow into the first team....but now Pogba and Morrison have departed, I can't see what the reasoning is behind the lack of investment. Frustrating is the not the word! I guess we'll be sitting here again crying out loud one year from now.

This transfer makes too much sense for us to actually pursue it.

This. Value? Quality? Central midfield? Available?

We'll sign another winger and maybe a young full back.

We should get a translator so we're able to ask Kagawa's opinion on this one. He played with him for half a season. Should know a thing or too.

If Arsenal sell Song, what do people think they're looking for for him? I'd love us to sign him, could also help out when we have our defensive injury crisis. To me he looked like the most improved player last season, never knew he could be creative as well as a powerhouse.

Could be a decent option if we improve his tactical awareness and positioning at times. I'd rather we pursue a top quality one first and perhaps look at more of a backup player like Song if we have money left over.

I think he's definitely on the path to top quality. I couldn't resist doing a special thread for this fantasy of mine, at the prospect..

He didn't play much for Real Madrid last season but this is a nice compilation package for when he did.

If he's actually for sale with no buy back bullshit then I can't see why we wouldn't be interested, he's class and young enough to become world class.

How about because we never go for players in his situation? Coming off a bad season where he was out of favour after injury. We havent done it before, so we're unlikely to suddenly do it and make Sahin the exception even though he could be a really good player for us.

There's obviously a reason why we stick to buying players after they've done well at their previous club and are coming in with momentum

jose had questions about his 'energy' and work-rate...perhaps fergie feels that if sahin isn't enough of a grafter for JM, then he's not enough of a grafter for us either.

Yeah... like micheal owen was in favour and never injured

This kid has had 1 bad injury in his career, and has taken a little while to get going again. He is the ideal backup / replacement to carrick, nobody else out there would fit in as well as he would IMO.

If only Rodgers had worked with him in the past, we might have been in for him.
