Nuri Sahin

Nuri Sahin will play next season at Arsenal. Turkish midfielder on loan up to the English side and is scheduled to return back to the discipline of Real Madrid at the end of season 2012/13. Sahin did not come into the squad for the match against Benfica target set in the 'Eusebio Cup' and neither did the last friendly against Oviedo.

Jose Mourinho wanted the Turkish march one year on loan to enjoy a few minutes and Real Madrid wanted to include him in Operation Modric ', but the Tottenham players do not want. The Arsenal was another of the clubs that were interested in the midfielder and finally Sahin will look for a year t 'gunner'.

Marca says Arsenal with no option to buy. Think it's short-termism.

It'd obviously be a quick fix but it's better than nothing for them, and they need someone given the uncertainty over how much Wilshere will be able to play.

A quick fix to what?

Arsenal's central midfielders;

Song
Wilshere
Ramsey
Arteta
Coquelin
Diaby
Rosicky
Frimpong

They need a central midfielder like I need a third ear on the back of my head.

Ox can play centrally as well. Strange deal by Arsenal but maybe Wilshere's injury has taken yet another setback.

They have two reliable midfielders, Wilshere is currently Hagreaves'd and the rest are all pretty hit and miss, there is definitely room for Sahin.

3 of those are out for the first couple of months of the season, another is Diaby. Coquelin looks promising but has a lot to prove & Song will be missing for the ANC.

I'd say there's room for another body, especially a loan.

Well Wilshere is still injured, Ramsey was in shite form at the end of last season, Diaby is a bit useless, Rosicky will be injured for the start of the season and may well revert to shite when he comes back, and I wouldn't want to rely on Frimpong or Coquelin if I were an Arsenal fan. A loan this season might be better for them.

Defence should be a bigger priority but getting Sahin for a year would make sense to me as a band aid until next year when their midfield could be sorted if Wilshere's injuries clear up and their young players develop.

Wenger three days ago on the Arsenal central midfield:

Rennes anchorman M'Vila, 22, has been a long-term transfer link for the Gunners, with reports stepping up due to the chronic injury problems suffered by Diaby and Jack Wilshere. But, speaking from Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the Far East, Wenger insisted that Diaby – who is fit and ready to play against a Malaysia XI – will be key to the club’s fortunes.

“No [I am not interested],” Wenger said in reference to M'Vila. “We wait on Diaby and Wilshere.

“When you look we have [Alex] Song, [Aaron] Ramsey, [Francis] Coquelin, Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Diaby.

“In defensive midfielders and box-to-box players we are not short if they are all coming back. If we have setbacks in pre-season it could be different.”
Diaby, it seems, is key to Wenger’s thoughts. He plays in the same position as M'Vila and the French coach is convinced the 26-year-old is the best man for the job – despite a dreadful injury record that has seen him play 21 Premier League matches in the past two years.

“He is the first player who would be on the France team-sheet in midfield when he is fit. Laurent Blanc said that before the European Championship and he waited a very long time to know if he could play or not. But he couldn't,” Wenger added.

“You can't imagine how happy I am firstly to have him in the squad, because he is an exceptional player. I am cautious but confident because he had two hard weeks and came through it well.”

Heard Rosicky was going to have an operation too. An injury to Arteta and they'd be fecked.

Well I'd have no problem taking him on loan at Utd for a year anyway, seeing as we seem hell bent on waiting on Scholes and Giggs to retire before actually buying a midfielder. It would make all sorts of sense.

TOO much sense for our midfield transfer policy.

Coquelin is probably shifted to RB.
Rosicky had an Achilles injury recently and has been operated.
It's uncertain when Wilshere will return.
Frimpong is out till November with Ligament damage and will probably be loaned out.
Rumours are there that Ramsey will also be loaned out.
Diaby..Well..
Song...I suppose ACN will again be held this January and he won't be available.

Having Sahin on loan for a year gives us that extra time to ease our returning players.

That sai, it is still speculation and probably a backup plan if Cazorla deal falls off.

Fergie has acknowledged that our midfield is a problem. I think we'll buy a midfielder, not sure if I'd have taken a Real Madrid player on loan with no option to buy.

Quite a few of those are either unproven or permacrocks. I don't expect Rosicky to repeat last season, Diaby is constantly injured and Wilshere seems to be out for a couple of months. Frimpong is a pretty limited player and Coquelin has only really played full back for them. I can see the logic behind it.

Why? He was the an integral part of your team early last season. Every young player has slumps. At his level I'm not sure what he'd learn by playing for someone like Wigan every week.

Dunno we've got Lansbury, Henderson, Aneke and Eisfeld as well. We even let Ozyakup go (which surprised me since I thought he was very good).

Makes a bit more sense now.

Ramsey won't be loaned, no chance.

Seems Marca got ahead of time and has now edited it. Let's wait and watch.

Just rumours and not something we(fans) are keen to see come through.
If we have all our players back fit, his game time will reduce though.

Maybe a discussion for another thread but I'm surprised you let go of Bunjaku. He looked quality from very little I saw of him and ofcourse youtube videos.

I think Lanzbury will be let go, i don't think he's even been given a squad number?

Henderson's just coming back from a season out too. Eisfeld seems to being played further forward and Aneke going on loan wouldn't surprise me.

Perhaps a response to Malaga telling us to feck off over Cazorla.

Attitude related issue. Some kind of fall-out with staff.
West Ham who took Morrison, were unwilling to take Bunjaku, which was odd.

Well he has signed for Sevilla which is a big step up from West Ham

I don't think we will, sadly. I think he wants to stock up in attack so that midfield is less of a problem, and milk Scholes, Giggs and Carrick for all their worth while he still can. It'll be next Summer before we buy in midfield (I think)

"We do have an issue in central midfield, there's no doubt about that, because getting a Scholes or a Carrick is very difficult these days," said Ferguson.

"We have the boy Nick Powell coming through, but he's young and although he's a very good talent he'll eventually be a midfield player.

Well he recently said this in a interview. I'll be very, very surprised if we don't sign a midfielder.

Oh I know about the interview, I just think he's stubborn, has a bad record with signing midfielders and as such will try and avoid splashing out on one as long as he can.

He was rumoured to be a right strophead. Someone will take a chance on him he's pretty talented.

EDIT: gone to Sevilla.

I think I've only ever seen Sahin play once or twice.

Carrick can't make the England team under successive managers, yet Fergie believes there's no available midfielder around the world who can match him? This logic recalls the good old days of last summer when we couldn't buy a midfielder because he'd take playing time from Pogba - all 15 minutes of it.

It's all very strange. :)

A fantastic central midfielder who's currently available on a season loan or reduced transfer offer? Nah sounds too sensible for us, better spend £25million on a winger.
