It's turn 6 man, you only have yourself to blame. I'm stunned that Irwin, Benarrivo and Zambrotta lasted this long after entering post-Turn 2 "anyone can get injured" territory. The quality of fullback backups, particularly LBs, is bound to be non-existent.

But then, no one ever gave a crap about fullbacks, I already knew that.

Great thing about those three is that you can easily use them on either flank, which boost your options when injuries are unveiled.
Not many that fit that description.

Would work if they were backup players. As starters (which they sure are) it doesn't quite work though as they can get injured themselves too. It does give you some flexibility re: next fullback pick and therefore which side you wind up getting a rather trash backup on. Also obviously gives flexibility when reinforcing later.

yeah that was my point. Not many great wingers in the pool and some sides will end up narrow, so you can start easily your 14th player on the less vulnerable side.

But isn't that a direct result of the relevance of the attacking fullback during this exact period?

Why have 4 players out on the flanks when you can get two to do "the same job"?
