Yes, shoaib can bowl a bit especially in the subcontinent. Always good to have an option incase a main bowler goes for a few.
Really? Always felt Salim Malik was the better bowler.

Shoaib's record in Pak
in Pakistan 65 57 431.5 10 2014 48 3/29 41.95 4.66 53.9 0 0

Salim's
in Pakistan 65 30 146.2 5 730 24 5/35 30.41 4.98 36.5 0 1

Exact same number of matches, but obviously one has bowled a lot more. But Salim has the better record. His medium pace usually takes wickets when people try to go after him.

I don't even remember salim malik bowling. Weird.

The pitches also played a part as spin wasnt helped on pak pitches. Besides, all we need is Shakib+shoaib to bowl the 10 overs for the 5th bowler. They wont be any less effective than Richards+Swann in any case so that is also not going to matter a lot. Dhoni as captain is famous for utilizing his part timers in such a way that the runflow would be minimized against them.

I don't like Dravid opening. I like Kirsten a lot, I always thought he was very reliable. NM's openers have the advantage for me.

The bowling is about even for me. I rate O'Donnell, and I don't think Marshall is that much better in the shorter format. I don't like Hasan, but Bracken and Flintoff are fine. Maybe slight edge to EAP.

Swann isnt any better than Shakib though. So yeah as you said our bowling is in no way inferior to EAP's.

Batting wise presence of Kohli and Dhoni in a chase is key. Lamb also has been a good asset in a chase (the 1987 WC final which Eng lost by 7 runs saw Lamb play an innings of 45 off 55 in a key point of the game and had he got more support from batsmen after him, would have even won them the game. He was the 7th batsman to be dismissed at 220 chasing 254). Malik is the relative "weaklink" in the batting but he is playing at home so that is also an advantage for us and in comparison to flower isnt inferior anyway. So I believe we have a more complete lineup adept at chasing.

EAP middle order, Jones/Viv can keep the score card ticking by some lusty blow and quick singles and some late hitting from Jadaja/Harris/Flower. And if at all everything goes by plan they can set the target of 280-300 max considering his early slow start.
NM/parth with Kristen(much better in sub continent pitches) and with Kohli/Dhoni(better chasers) with Flintoff coming late this batting line up looks good enough
Hadlee/Marshall can cause some early damage and Aaqib with is late strike can cause some damage but his middle over bowling is concern, I don't think Harris/Flower/ Swann can contain middle over run flow which is crucial for any ODI side, Kohli/Dhoni should enjoy playing those middle overs and can score at brisk pace which mean less pressure for batsmen coming behind them.

he has played test in pak too but as this is ODI draft didnt really consider it. Roberts has better test record in India and Pak if my memory is right but thats irrelevant here imo.
I can get that, since you said he had not played in sub continent.

Don't think it's such a big deal whether a player has played ODI in Pakistan or not.

Personally I doubt that fast bowlers who have very good records elsewhere will struggle in conditions here (I am talking about both Hadlee and Roberts here. Even bracken)

Went for NM/Prath in the end. It was very very close but I think he'd just shade it with his batting.

Co grass NM and Prath. Nice team you had there EAP, very close game.

I was surprised that Kristen was underrated. Always thought he was a classy opener!

Yeah, I was surprised he went late and people thought he wasn't the clear standout opener here. something to consider for me moving forwards.
