Nkunku | Chelsea player

Big blow for Pochettino. His chelsea team is bare thin, so he cant really afford to loose a player of his quality. Perhaps that is why Pochettino has been pushing the chelsea owners to sign four more players before the window closes. It will be a miracle if chelsea somehow makes a champion league spot if they don't address the lack of quality in depth in there team.

Getting the excuses in early for him, good man.

Fantastic joke, bravo

So this is the second player they have tied to a long term contract that seemingly has knee issues?
I just read that the second highest league goals scorer in their expected 11 now is Silva with 28.
They needed a striker 2 seasons ago and it’s somehow even worse now.
Poch could do well and if he does he won’t get the credit he deserves. This looks to be a hugely difficult job
Just keep Liverpool away from 5th and we’re all good

Meniscus injuries are horrible. He should rest it for 9-10 months and come back season after.

Nah not quite. He might not be out thst long.

If they removed the damage part of the miniscus he will only be out for about 6 weeks (but more likely have issues in later life) If they've repaired it then it will be about 6 months.

I've just had one removed, one repaired and ACL Reconstruction so unfortunately know my recovery times

There's no way they don't repair his meniscus. He's only 25.

I assume he's on an 8 year contract so they have got plenty of time to see the best of him.

Could this mean one last Chelsea chance for Lukaku?

We have to replace him with a Loan or buy someone, not going to be easy, just not Felix again. Don't see our attack functioning well without him and it'll be another mid table season most probably if we can't find someone.

How can you say that after a few pre season games???

He was one of the few seasoned attackers in the team, from pre season he's crucial to our goal threat. Is it possible we'll still be decent going forward without him in the team..?

We'll be gambling that Chuk, Santos, Mudryk, Sterling, Gallagher all hit top form to get us enough goals for top 6, if we don't get someone else. If we then end up mid table again come the end of the season no one can be particularly surprised.

This is too on the nose for me. I'm out.

Needed surgery. That’s crazy. It looked like a nothing incident with Hummels at the time. He carried on for bit. I thought taking him off was just precautionary. Now out for 4 months.

How has this guy not been given a "supports Chelsea" tagline yet?

Gutted for nkunku. Missed last world cup now missed start of the season with new club.

That's bad news but at least the window is still open for them to look for a replacement. Heard this Chumbawumba guy is meant to be good.

It’s kinda zapped my optimism for the new season. I know it’s just one player but Nkunku was set to be the main piece in this new attack.

The small small silver lining is I actually felt Jackson looked better in pre season when he was the main man up top as opposed to playing second fiddle to a Christo centered attack.

The worry now is we nullify even that by panic buying a number 9, getting Felix back on loan as a placeholder doesn't sound like too bad an idea a point and this is coming from someone who thinks he's hideously overrated.

He missed the world cup because of a LCL problem. This is a meniscus problem. Both on his left knee.

No idea if those things are connected but.hard to imagine not.
The rigours of the PL won’t be kind to his body, either. Genuinely hope he gets to show his best for you.

Hmm… don’t wish ill for the guy, but those knee(s) of his seem to be a concern by now?

Whoops, looks like I was wrong. This is also a left knee injury.

Definitely somewhat concerning but both were contact injuries and that fecking awful pitch in Chicago didn't help at all - I'd be more concerned with recurring non-contact injuries but of course it's not a great sign.

You still have Broja, Jackson and Lukaku* as centrally playing attackers :D Broja deserves chances imo and Jackson as been good also?

Isn‘t Broja injured as well?

Would love the scenes when Neymar gets signed and is just as much injured.

Broja is coming off an ACL injury and has played 0 minutes since before the World Cup. He played no part in preseason. No one knows where he is with his recovery yet, don’t think he’s even training with the team yet, so I’m pretty sure we won’t see him for another month or two.

That's nice of you.
Take it with humour.

I like Ney, and in theory he‘s exactly what I think you‘d need but he‘s totally injury prone by now and it wouldn‘t get better playing in the EPL so imho would be the wrong signing.

I reckon thats him like 70% of his former self now, 2 major injuries back to back you dont really come back 100% from those

Two knee separate knee injuries so far for him and he's 25.

We're not at Reece James levels of worry yet.

I’m somewhere in the middle; all the twisty turns explosive stuff becomes riskier and his game might need modifications to accommodate… or, he can come back and go for it as he was, with the risks that entails.
