Nkunku | Chelsea player

Started well then had an average month, got injured again and did allright when he returned for the end of season dead rubbers.

Looked pretty good at the start (not just in conference but in his league cameos aswell) but in the last month or so he looks like he's mentally checked out and it's hard to blame him too much given the situation.

It's a shame but I'll be happy he's not going to United as he'd be perfect for Amorims system (and we would sell with a good offer).

What situation?

He doesn’t start. That’s the top and bottom of it really. Injuries ruined his season last season and he’s more or less been Jackson’s back up this season. He’s looked good in the conference league, but quality of opposition is obviously too low to learn anything meaningful. What role would he fill at Bayern? Seems like an odd move for him with Kane there.
Cheers for the answer! You as well @Dancfc

As for the bolded: Bayern has no backup for Kane.

If I recall correctly Nkunku can also play as a second striker/10. Bayern is/was interested in Simmons and Wirtz so they seem to have a plan to play a formation with Musiala and Wirtz/Simmons. Nkunku could fit in here if Bayern cannot get Wirtz or Simmons.

Nkunku to Bayern seems to be a thing. Which probably also means no Wirtz or Simmons in the summer. Wirtz was extremely unlikely anyways.

I'd imagine he didn't sign for Chelsea to be second choice or regularly be injured. It was his big move that hasn't worked out from his point of view.

Checking out is a bit of a lame response from any footballer who has to fight for his place or deal with injuries though? Big red flag for anyone thinking about signing him.

I guess if you’re going to be back up regardless, you’d rather be that at Bayern than Chelsea, but yeah seems like an odd move for him. He can be play 10/second striker, I haven’t been too impressed with his work in the 10 role when given the chance and we never really used him as a second striker, ever. I can’t think of too many top clubs who have a position like that open. Thats been his problem basically. He’s an odd fit.

Weird. Not really the type of player we need imo.
But i would prefer him as a backup for Kane and Musiala to the likes of Tel and Müller.

For Leipzig he also played sometimes as a left wing if i remember correctly.

He hasn’t really impressed on the LW or in the 10. Almost all his best games have come as the main striker. I don’t know what it’s in it for him to go to a team that already has Kane. He’d be better off joining PSG imo.

I had it in my head that he was a free transfer but the fact that he cost you c. 50m means that you need to try and command a big selling fee for him. Amazed that people are interested in doing it though given his injury record.

How can they possibly get that much for him, given his age, injury record and performance?
January premium. But They won't get it. €70m might be their starting point but anything above €50m would IMHO be stupidity.

Come to think of it: It is Chelsea. Let Bayern value Tel at €60m. Tel + €10m for Nkunku?

They say 70m "package" so I would guess that isn't the transfer fee? Probably value of contract being offered to Nkunku included in that figure.

No, I think it means Chelsea have an interest in Tel and would accept a package of Tel + 'insert amount'. The tricky bit is finding common ground in Tel's valuation.

He doesn't fit easily in the team, so natural he wants to go and Bayern are obv a top

Be a loss for us especially if any more injuries or problems.

Bayern need to pay if they really want him.

Why would chelsea be requesting his wages in the package? The way Romano words tweets means that the package is inclusive of add ons. If you included his wages in that 70m figure, over the course of a 5 year contract, chelsea would be left with a very small transfer fee.

Chelsea negotiators must dish out happy endings during these talks, because they can't half shift out their deadwood quickly and efficiently.

We’ve not sold him yet but it looks hopeful. We dropped £52m on him but he’s currently on our books for around £39m. Anything over that is another help for PSR.

I’d be thrilled with £50m (€59m)

Bayern DoF Freund pretty much ruled out his transfer, and that in fact they are not planning to bring in anyone new as things currently stand.
