Gaming Nintendo Switch

How does the piano work? I can't figure it out

I spent half an hour searching for exactly this answer after the video had fried my mind! There are some sort of infrared stickers on the back of the keys. Apparently it works instantly and seamlessly!

This whole idea is perhaps the most Nintendo thing of all time. It's fecking brilliant!

Oh wow. I assumed it was just cardboard. That's cool!

To be fair it’s the type of thing I’d love as a kid. You get to build shit and play after.
It reminded me of these things I had growing up

Finally got one, it's coming later on. Bought Mario Kart and Zelda. Enough to be going on with for now?

Yeah there’s hours of entertainment there, when you’re done pick up Mario Odyssey as well I love it.

How long does the switch take to turn on from a dead battery? It’s been like 15 minutes and it’s just giving me the nintendo logo followed by a black screen with the charging icon.

I Haven’t played that but it seems mixed. Some people claim it to be game of the year while others can’t get into it, it’s a mixed bag.
it's definitely not game of the year tier, but it's still a very good game, worth getting into.

I just finished the main story about 5 minutes ago and I don’t know what to do with my life. I think it’s my favourite game I’ve played in the last 5 years.

It’s also a JRPG so you know not for everyone.

I don't know about 15 mins, but it takes a little bit. Best to leave it alone in that time to get a bit in it too.

But have you tried holding the power button down to make sure it fully switched off before you tried to switch it back on again? That seems to work better from dead.

I left the house for like 2 hours and when I came back it worked. I won't let the battery drain ever again .

Can't play tonight but if people add me I'll be up for a few games in the week.

Finally started playing Mario and my god it's so much damn fun.

Are moons easy to miss? I assume there are loads more than the ones you have to collect?

Those who say game of the year are just wrong.
But for a jrpg, it's very, very good. And quite impressive for the hardware that the switch has (pushing it a bit on performance...).

What's Xenoblade like?
@Snowjoe Now that you've finished it, maybe you want to let them know what awaits them at the end?

Yes moons are easy to miss, and yes there are lots more then you need but you need to get most to make the end game

They can be, but when you go back when you've completed, you are more likely to just roam around the maps and you'll pick them up quick enough.

Agree though, lots of fun.

Yeah they are incredibly easy to miss, on first few planets I'd usually do maybe 35-40% of what is there - will probably need to come back to them soon.

Anyone here got Splatoon 2?

Mario and Zelda alone make the system worth owning. Seriously need to get MK8 though, just still salty they brought it out so soon after killing off the Wii U so didn't want to buy it again.

Also, the Labo may be for kids, but at 27 I want it just to figure out how all the bits work.

Not yet.. waiting for bonus pay day to buy a few more games.. I have some professional exams in the coming weeks too, so could do without the distraction - although with MK8, Zelda, Mario O, (I sold rabbids), overcooked and rocket league.. The studying is not going well.

Interested to hear peoples opinion on it though!

I loved the first, and its basically the same. Sort of game you sit down and think "I'll just play a couple of games to kill 20 minutes" and next thing you know it's 7am and your alarm's going off and you've got to get ready for work.
It's such a Nintendo version of a shooter. It's easy to pick up the basics, you just want to paint more of the floor than the other team. But there's a fairly high skill and tactics ceiling if you're interested in becoming better, but it's a lot of fun to just play at random too. There's actually a single player campaign this time around too, with a few levels, boss fights and collectibles. I've only bothered to do the first sector though (i think there's 4 or 5) so can't comment much on that.

Yeah I got it at launch. I love a good FPS - the last one I had was Destiny which I was obsessed with - so I wondered if this would scratch my itch. It was fun for a while- but I got fed up of the 2 characters who talk each time you load the game and whilst the motion controls were fun - it never felt accurate like a proper controller does. Played it for about 6 hours - really good fun and would recommend - but (obviously) very very different to Destiny. Also my theory that it would be just be kids and big kids playing was proved correct - I finished first in virtually every game I played - compared to Destiny where I'm lucky to not be bottom!

@Olly have you seen that game Celeste that’s just been released in the eshop? Been getting great reviews and you love a good platformer.

I bought Stardew Valley. And I actually took my Switch out of the dock. Enjoyable game even though I don't really know what I'm doing. Chopped down a lot of trees, though.
