Gaming Nintendo Switch

Yeah, I've been enjoying it tons (obviously with my game-time:lol:). I think it has some major issues, but it's very enjoyable. Being simple enough to just play when you don't want to think yet complex enough to make some use of your head when you want to with a decently engaging story.

Think it's right below the first Xenoblade, which was a fantastic game in itself.
Did you play Xenoblade? Or any of the Xenogears/saga games?
Nope first one.

If you want a perfect party multiplayer game, go for Overcooked. I know it's also been available on PS4 and Xbox One for a while but it feels right at home on the Switch, pure perfection.

I had quite a bit of fun with two of my flatmates on Snipperclips yesterday as well, a third would have been ideal though as one person needs to control two of the things. :)

Is it finally patched? They had lots of complaints about frame rate and generally how they treated people who bought it at first.
Yes it's patched and works great (although still quite doesn't perform as well as PS4 / XB1)

What do you mean how they treated people at first though?

I may be wrong, and please correct me if I am, but not long after it came out and I looked into buying it there was a to do when they launched the game on the switch knowing it still had severe problems with the framerate even stemming from the other versions that had been out a while and they were blowing people off (giggity) all over twitter and all that promising a patch rather than refunds that took a ridiculous amount of time to come. Basically they over sold themselves, then bullshitted about it rather than being honest and focusing on the simple fix.

If it works now though, I'm in because it's perfect for the Switch and I fancy a row with the missus when she fecking burns something ;)

No idea if you're wrong or not mate - although I do remember something about them releasing it knowing the framerate was bad. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though purely because they are a 2 man team and also if they had announced a launch date they had to stick to it to maybe :)

Oh yeah, we aren't talking EA levels of cnut here, just I always check things out before buying them and I think even if you are doing it alone, don't try to mug people off.

Snipperclips is for two people maximum though, isn't it?

I have it too. Good game but I can take maximum 6-7 levels at once and I get tired.

I'm kinda not enjoying super mario odysseys gameplay for some reason.
I mean, i love the world(s) and all that, but it seems like the controllers don't feel as fluent as with the N64 game (which i recently played through). Tried with joy-cons in the console, out of the console and with a pro-controller.
Somehow I think it's my experience of depth that is the problem as I seem to struggle a bit on getting him to move as well as I did with the SM64 game.
I do have terrible eyesight and issues with my focus as well, so seems plausible. Means I'll take up BotW as my next game now that I'm done with Xenoblade 2.

That is very plausible mate, at the level of lighting and the clever use of reflective lighting and all that really can make a difference compared to the basic vertex lighting of M64. Not to mention frame rate as despite what you'd think, a higher/smoother fps combined with those visuals can do all sorts. Remember, it's just a visual trick to get your brain to see 3D on the tele, if your eyes and focus are out of whack, it could explain a lot. Stuff like rpgs and souls and all that it wouldn't matter as much, because those aren't based on focused character movement like Mario.

Plus, let's be honest, if there's ever a game that is unlikely to be toppled as the greatest of it's kind, it's Mario 64. Or you just suck at it ;)

No you can play four at a time, which is great fun. But yeah, you can only do so many levels in one sitting.

Yeah. I'll give it a proper go after I'm done with Tomb Raider (if i can find a fix for the issue that they have) & BotW. But I suspect that it'll be similar to how my focus-issues gives me headaches when I use witcher senses on TW3 and that I can't fix it.

Fingers crossed matey. Fwiw I love the game, but it's no M64 or even Sunshine for me. I'd put it alongside the Galaxy game as spectacular examples of how to take a genre in a direction, yet not quite groundbreaking enough as those two. Sunshine really needs a remaster though, people think it's like Twilight princess or Skyward sword in that it's a lesser sequel, but it's nothing like that it's a genuinely great game and easily holds up to this very day. In fact, dare I say, that Mario is still the most controllable version ever.

Btw, what Tombraider are we talking and what issue? I've not tried the second one on PC due to being a bit bored by the first, but that one ran with no issue for me. As you know though, PC gaming has it's own unique issues, like Nioh has got a load of stick for being a poor port, yet mine runs fantastically well at 60fps with no a single crash to date.

I have MK8, Skyrim, and Rocket League so far. MK8 and Rocket League are really fun and I love Skyrim but just don't have the time to sit down for a couple of hours to play so I feel like I'm just not accomplishing anything on it.

I'm trying to decide between Odyssey, Rabbids, or Zelda for my next game. Zelda seems like it would take a lot more time (like Skyrim) and I'm sort've looking for something I can pick up and play for an hour or so at a time and then put back down. Any recommendations?

I'm only part way into zelda, but I've been playing it an hour at a time. Doable so far for me.

You are never going to accomplish anything in Skyrim. It's just too big

But for pick up and play, out of those three, Odyssey is the game. Zelda is as bad as Skyrim for needing attention (though it's a whole new level of game compared) and Rabbids is a bit too tactical for you to jump in and out of easily. Mario is something you can really enjoy but put down and come back to days later and not have to re-learn the buttons or wonder what you were doing.

Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Yeah, as far as I've been able to research the issue lies somewhere between programming (at the games end) and drivers for both nvidia and amd graphics cards not solving it.
I've tried the conventional turn off x-y-z (from general settings to steam overlay, s-overlay being a issue for many) and with my heavy-end laptop it still crashes despite not getting heated up or anything like that regardless of if i run DX12/DX11, overlay, fullscreen/exclusive fullscreen, vsync, different types of aliasing, settings anywhere from high to low end with and without tessallation (which was the issue for many).
Recently tried to overclock my already powerful processor (quad-core i7 2.9Ghz) a bit to see if that helped, but it didn't. Also tried to run it on both my integrated GPU (since I have 32GB ram i figured it might still run fine on low-settings) and my nvidia 8gb card.

Last thing I've tried is just reinstalling the whole thing, haven't tested since then as I wanted to finish up Xenoblade 2 anyway.

Yeah I played Skyrim on PS3 when I was a student and had time to sit around for hours on end to play, just don't have the time for that any more.

I was leaning towards Odyssey anyway but Rabbids does look fun. Any recommendations to consider outside of those two for pick up and play?

Odyssey seems a no brainer.

Wow that's cool.

I have three joy-cons because I caved in and bought a third grey one before Christmas (my right joy-con was a little loose, it wasn't coming out on it's own but you did not have to push the button to release it which was frustrating). I want to buy another one now but I have some spare money and I'd probably prefer to buy the red and blue one just to have an option to switch between the colors.

I will end up having 5 joy-cons though. I don't think any game allows you to use 5, right?

Is there someone from Manchester here who would like a joy-con for 10 pounds or so? It will be the loose one but it makes no difference if you don't connect it to console and it actually makes no difference either way because it's not totally loose either.

My girl ended up buying her own switch when she realized I don't half-ass play games.
Now we have 2 dockings, one I'll have in my office once i get a proper desktop and 2-3 monitors and one in the living-room with our main-tv. 4-chargers, 1 for each docking and one for each console so we can travel without having to take stuff out of where we hide cables.

I also got myself a pro-controller and a hori-stand. I really want to buy a pair of white & black joy-cons because it fits with the colors i use in my "office".
Price of them looks to be on around 1400 NOK though, and I'm only prepared to pay around 7-900 for it to fit the style.

You could always have one player using two joy-cons as one controller and the rest play just using single joy-cons I suppose.

Wowzer. They are awesome though.

Another thing we are polar opposites at, I have current count and much to my gf's dismay (and amusement it has to be said), 8 games on the go at once and I'll likely complete half of them at best  Nioh is already taking a back seat despite me really loving it, I think I have an attention problem

If i like a game, I tend to want to finish it fully (but in my way of saying fully, not platinums that say you have to do some mindnumbing stuff 500 000 times). And I've got all the time in the world, luckily I also have a girl who wants me to spend time and money on things that entertain me. :D
But yeah, those are awesome, fits great with my equipment: White blue-yeti microphone, light aluminium headsetstand w/usb-hub, AKracing pro-x white&black, changed color-theme on my sensei mouse and alienware to white and got a black steelseries xxl mousepad with white steelseries logo, wanted white framing but found it on sale and figured why not). Gaming desk I couldn't get white or black due to my need for motoric height-adjustment, but got dark aluminium to make it not take too much.

Need my two blankets, one because I enjoy having a blanket, the other because sometimes it gets cold. :p
The teddy is a gift from my best friend from when I was at the hospital.
Need to find a better carpet that is possible to roll on and covers the room (at least from desk to door), but that the chair doesn't glide too easily on.
Trying to figure out about canvas-painings and what I need to look at in order to just buy something I can put on the wall straight away without any other work. Feels too empty above my laptop now.

Will over time upgrade to desktop + 2-3 monitors, have found which monitors i want, just need to save the money for it.

Desk has usable holes in the upper right and left that I can get cables through, but the switch-cable is a bit too small so I'm just using an anchor at the end of the desk for it.
Would prefer black&white headset, but since I need noise-canceling and hate spending money just for the theme I doubt i'll change it out anytime soon.

I'm exactly the same. My argument is usually that the next game I want to play might fall in price before I finally get around to it. It's especially true now where I'm gaming so rarely.

EDIT: Of course Steam has often tricked me into buying their offers anyway.

You have taste. Though I'm also not afraid to say that the pink joycons pop!

You have taste. Though I'm also not afraid to say that the pink joycons pop!
It's really a storage room we're trying to make into a office for me to have my pc and stuff at. Since it creates such a mess when i live in the living-room. up in the right corner i have a box of pain-killers (to the right of the fan), and i just about never seem able to keep that box tidy. When pains come it's more important that I get the painkillers fast than opening boxes like they are supposed to. Now I seem to have stuff in better order, but have to clean my desk every now and then.

I really want those joy-cons to be black&white, and possible the stand for the tablet to be white-ish in contrast to the black tablet. Used to play summoners war 24/7 on the tablet, but now that I've quit (sold out, reason i was able to buy everything else apart from the laptop) it becomes a tool to do research on when I'm playing a full-screen game on the laptop.

Also, me moving in here gives Katrine some much needed "alone-time" so she can fully indulge herself in whatever she wants without having to take my over-sensitivity towards sounds into account.

Also use the "it'll drop in price" argument towards myself, only exception being games I've looked forward to for a long time, then I'll drop whatever game I'm working on to get started.
Nowadays I'm waiting for Divinity original sin 2 to get down in price. Haven't gotten through the first one, but I'm enjoying it so much that I'm sure I will and by the reviews of the 2nd and gameplay-videos I'll love that as well.

Yeah I am like you. I always promise myself not to buy too many games but always end up with a massive back log because I MUST HAVE THIS GAME NOW. I have about 10-12 PS4 games I need to finish, and I have not finished a single game on Switch yet and I got pretty much all of the big ones. I am confident I will finish a lot of Switch games though because I will travel more this year and Switch is absolutely brilliant on the go.

Caved in and ordered one of these with Zelda too. Should be arriving tomorrow I think. First time i’ve ever had a Nintendo console so quite exciting :)

I had the 3ds before and I mainly played Pokemon, but after the Switch I tried out some older games and I'm just amazed how awesome Nintendo is.

That’s good to know! I’m quite similar in that I only ever had like a game boy or DS to play Pokemon and other than that i’ve played Smash a few times at my mates house.

I did exactly this about 10 days ago. Going to finish Zelda first though before I go buying any more games.

I cant believe i've had this since Christmas and haven't even looked at Zelda yet. Been so immersed in Odyssey! And Mario Kart and Rocket League on lunch breaks at work is good fun!

I almost wish I was in your position to focus solely on odyssey enjoy it and the move on to probably the best zelda game ever.

Currently I'm back and forth between both. I love them both but I will probably park Mario for a bit because of how immersed I am in zelda
