Gaming Nintendo Switch

I didn't play the first one, though I had a Wii U. I know they are technically classed as 'shooters'; do you feel that's an accurate description? I hope that's not a stupid question.

Nah man, not a stupid question. It is a shooter, just with different rules. It's great though, highly recommended. As @Sarni says, you can be a complete beginner and still compete. My 6 year old is great at it, but that doesn't mean it's easy to master though, the depth tactically is there.

That's a great 6-year old! My fiance's brother will be 7 in two months and he doesn't really understand 3D games much, he's running around but he doesn't really remember any controls so he ends up doing random stuff (which sometimes ends up well ).

Considering he spends minimum 5-7 hours a day (and sometimes 10-13 hours on a weekend) with a tablet/console, it's bad.

I had him playing Skyrim VR yesterday, and my god he not only picked up the move controls but pulled off a headshot on the bear in the cave at the very start. @afrocentricity and the guys in the VR thread will no doubt attest as to how impressive both those things are.

fecking brat, showing me right up!

Just managed to bag the lightning deal on Amazon for the neon Switch with a free copy of Mario Odyssey for £279!

They sold out in 2 minutes!!

Mario Kart is selling out everywhere on the Switch. You insane how popular this console is already.

Would owners of the Switch recommend buying a micro SD card? Been reading that the storage capacity on the switch isn't ideal and could get a little problematic when you start to build your game library.

Yes, but only when you need to.

Am i right in thinking that the physical copy of games on the Switch don't actually take up any memory due to the fact that you don't need to install them?
Like you would on the PS4, for example.

So the only thing i would be using the internal memory for would be save game files, etc.

I believe cartridges do take up a little memory, but nothing in comparison to digital, for obvious reasons.

I currently have digital Mario Odyssey, and Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon 2 physical. No memory card required yet.

EDIT just checked. 19GB remains free.

Mostly no, but some do need extra space, like with Doom, the multiplayer is a separate download, so you'd need to make sure you have space for that if you want to play online.

Cool. Good to know. The memory that comes with it should suffice for some time then, as i'll mostly be buying physical copies with the odd indie digital game here and there.

Just ordered one of these for the kids' Christmas. I've never personally had a Nintendo system (except a couple of Game Boys) but they seem to love them. I don't understand the excitement as there's absolutely bugger all that I want to play on the Switch myself, as all of the games look incredibly underwhelming.

Well, I guess I'll play Mario Kart a few times when they're not on it... And Odyssey, since my mate says it's amazing... Breath of the Wild has had great reviews too so I'll get that as well..... Oh, oh, and Splatoon 2.......
.....yeah, okay. Maybe I do understand the excitement...

Your weight is underwhelming!

Ordered some entertainment yesterday while drugged and bored.
Nintendo switch + super mario odysey pack
Zelda botw
Maro kart
Fire emblem
+ travel case.

Looking forward to jrpgs on the nintendo. ^^

What's the best screen protector for the switch, will any old one do ?

AmFilm tempered glass. It's brilliant.

Gone back to BOTW. Such an amazing game, I can't say it enough

I know right? It's all the little touches that just make it sublime. Easily one of, if not the most consistent worlds ever created.

I've sort of asked this before.. but I'm still trying to justify it.

What's coming out on Switch next year that'll make me think it's worth purchasing one now?

(Yes I know I know, Mario & Zelda are amazing bla bla)
